raising the dead: I purchased one used for CHEAP ($300 CAD). It's the perfect solution for my small apartment and monster VFX workstation. It's literally under the parallel side of my L-shaped configuration, between the legs and directly under my PC. I'm now on VR, but initially, I had my monitor mounted to the edge of the desk directly behind the wheelbase. It's a bit tricky to get in and out of this configuration, considering there's a desk leg beside my knee, but it's a price to pay for my constraints. I've been using this for a little over six months now, and I love it. I have made a few modifications for my F1-style position. The pedal base is raised to be parallel with my thigh pad hinge so I can utilize the heel rest of my Meca Cup 1s and not have to hold my legs up for the entire race. This required a few extra holes drilled in the pivot plates and, in my case, a used apple box under the foot box to achieve the height. This also stopped the pivot panels from continuing to cut grooves into the wood base, which are now about 10-13mm deep into the deck surface. Some hardware is a bit tricky to access, so more pass-through holes have been drilled to fit drivers through the exterior of the lower frame section, making adjustments substantially easier. I'm working on a 3D-printed set of flare dies to give these holes strength. If I'm successful, I might do more of that to the rest of the frame simply because I can. It's plenty light and plenty strong, but I love to experiment and tinker! All in all, 9/10 for a micro rig-this thing slaps.
I just saw the review from Boosted Media this morning. This chassis is really cool. Will there be other options for the mounting board like maybe some fake carbon fiber or just black? The wood looks very nice but its not very motor sports like.
Hi there! The mounting board is standard, but you can pick the chair in different shades of Italian leather, switch from pine wood to Teka wood, add in carbon fiber, etc! It's pretty customizable.
That cockpit needs to be raised 3 to 4" off the ground. Someone with a medium to a heavy built has trouble getting out of that cockpit from a seating position.
Boosted media just covered this in a video. And the back out the chair is cheap as fuck at the top and flexs a lot. Unlike the one in the video. And $500-600 for this turd. Buy a sim lab gt1 evo or p1x I think the top model is called
