He is even in denial about it a few seconds later, when he says “I’m sure he will”. He won’t allow himself to realize that he killed another man, he thinks he’s the hero, he thinks he’s just roughing up some bad guys so he can save the day, when he’s actually murdering and terrorizing a bunch of innocent contestants for no reason. And this is all in the fault of Speed Racer’s stupid, greedy, diabolical father for indoctrinating him into thinking that he was the only person who matters, and that he can kill and kill, with no consequences whatsoever.
