In this video we look at some tips and tricks that can help you speed up the evolution of your chao and speed up the stat raising process by a lot! Feel free to leave and questions in the comments section!
In my chao series we explore Sonic Adventure 2 and the Chao Garden. The series will primarily focus on the Chao as we help them grow and develop. We will be raising a variety of Chao and will spend time in the normal, hero and dark gardens. Breeding for rare Chao and strong stat grades will be a priority of the series as we explore all that the Chao garden has to offer. This series is being played on the steam version, which allows us to potentially explore some of the mods that SA2 has to offer (Chao World Extended).

Sonic Adventure 2 (Japanese: ソニックアドベンチャー2 Hepburn: Sonikku Adobenchā Tsū?) is a platform video game developed by Sonic Team USA and published by Sega for the Dreamcast console and the last Sonic game to be released for a Sega console and is a sequel to 1998's Sonic Adventure. It was released in North America, Europe, and Japan in June 2001 to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Sonic the Hedgehog series. The game was ported to the Nintendo GameCube and re-titled Sonic Adventure 2 Battle (ソニックアドベンチャー2 バトル Sonikku Adobenchā Tsū Batoru?), with brand-new features as well as minor changes in the level design. The original game and content from Battle was released in high-definition on PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade in October 2012. A version for Microsoft Windows was released in November 2012.
The game takes place after the events of its predecessing game: Sonic Adventure. The series antagonist Doctor Eggman releases Shadow the Hedgehog, who joins Eggman and treasure hunter Rouge the Bat to steal the seven Chaos Emeralds. The game's story focuses on the protagonists Sonic the Hedgehog, Knuckles the Echidna and Miles "Tails" Prower as they attempt to stop Eggman and Shadow from collecting the Chaos Emeralds.

1:27 the fruit that comes from the Tasty Seeds you can buy in the Black Market (the banana shaped ones) can help speed up your Chao’s second evolution even more. each bite can give an adult magnitude boost ranging from +0.001 to +0.005, speeding up the second evolution by as much as five times also, keep in mind that the fruits that come from Strong Seeds do *not* give an additional boost, but, instead, extend your Chao’s lifespan by ten minutes, so if you’re wanting your Chao to reincarnate faster, don’t go anywhere near the Strong Fruit

Morbid question but is there any fruits that reduce the lifespan to reincarnate faster? Seems like a great way to quickly breed up to an S rank chao then keep raising the base stats till you're garanteed to get a max stat Chao you can then turn into a chaos.

This comment should be retracted as it is miss information. I tested both these fruits and they function identically to the regular fruit in terms of raising adult magnitude. The thing about strong fruits extending a chao’s life is still true tho.

Raising a chao or chaos may take hours and hours but in my childhood experience, it's totally worth it.

There's also another Location in the Hero garden that's good for the Reuse glitch (At least on the Gamecube) In the upper right corner near the pool theirs another pillar that's super faraway from all of the other Chao so they don't steal your animals. Also there's an area in the Dark garden that's pretty good too (Also Gamecube) it's a Spiked fence and it's near the big tree, Just put your Chao there and there stuck! Hope this helps! :D

yes that fence area is notorious for having items go missing under surface like the purple ball u win in dark garden haha, they don't disappear they are just under the surface of land, if u could shift them somehow they would end up in the blood pool also in the hero garden near the stairs to the gazibo, that walled area also has a lot of 'chao freeze' zones around it but they are not as strong as the fallen pillar ones

I just lost my 1st Chao I ever had, he was about to be 3rd reincarnated, I was gonna make him a Nutural Chaos Chao, but he didn't have enough love... he was my favorite. And I legitimately cried when I noticed; I was already going in & out of the game for other Chao to level up, but by the time I noticed he was gone, it was way too late.. im so upset with myself like a lost something, I lost my favorite Chao... here's to petting Chao 200+ times and sleeping with the game open for the next few days :(

wow didnt know this! i thought that each piece of fruit allows your chao to live about 2 minutes longer but I didn't know it actually sped up a hidden magnitude value that changes the appearance/evolves your chao.. this is why I have a fully evolved 'sonic' chao (nuteral run run) that shows only 2 years of age and became the full vibrant blue but my 'shadow' chao (dark run run) was 3 before he fully finished his evolution and became a full vibrant red

Please note that the chao evolution type will increase or decrease more with animals allowing you to spend less time giving them

As someone who played this game 20 years ago it is much better just to use fruit (for stamina) because you can easy be at a decent level of stamina when your chao is lv 99 on everything else

So, i got back into sonic adventure 2 recently and i (almost) have an all S chao within 3 days thanks to breeding, from what i figured out, if you feed it non stop from birth, it takes a level 16 stamina for it to turn one, but do you know what level of stamina it takes for it to rebirth if you did it non stop? Also, been watching your guides, they're a great help, glad people still play this game in 2022!

Thanks for watching! Rebirth is completely separate from evolution and stamina. It is only based on the age of a chao and as far as I am aware, there is no way to speed or slow it without mods. Hope this helps!

Scared to give my chao any animals, I want a shadow chao. 8 year old me couldnt do it, and now 27 year old me knows how to do it (kinda) and I dont want to fuck it up.

If you want a shadow chao, you give your chao animals from the speed group (cheetah, boar, rabbit) and you can use the skeleton dog to get rid of the animal parts. If you don't want to give your chao animals, you can use green chaos drives. The glitch mentioned in the video does work with chaos drives, but it is a little harder to pull off because they float, but trust me, it works.

@alex4nder_lovelyy Keep using it until all the parts are gone. The skeleton dog can be a little finicky. Some parts take more skeleton dogs to remove than others.

Adult chao will do that if they really like the character you're using. If you sit for a few seconds, they'll stop and then start cheering (at least I think it's cheering) for a few seconds.

I've been searching for a video with an example of how to get the chao stuck in the pillar. At least this one shows it stuck, but yeah mine seems to run out easily on PC.

Hey there just came across you awesome channel! I was always playing sonic games and raising chao 24/7 when I was young. I recently decided to revisit and show my headband the magic of chao! However I have some questions. Is there a difference between sonic adventure 2 / sonic adventure 2 battle? Also all my chao just go into either dark or Angel no other colors / variations :/ just plain white Angel chao or dark black chao but I’m not sure how y’all are getting green / red / blue etc thanks in advance!

they will usually evolve into the colour of whatever chaos drive you're feeding them most. Also petting them equally with both hero and dark characters will allow them to evolve as a neutral chao.

I have a question: Do you need to give a Chao 1 of every animal for each life when they reincarnate on the Dreamcast version of SA2? From what I've seen and read, you only do that step once or, at least I thought so. I have 3 Chao I'm aiming to make Chaos Chao (Normal, Hero, Dark) and they're all on their 5th or 6th reincarnations. When the cacoon finishes, an egg is formed. All three have only been given 1 of each animal however, that was only for their first life and I have done nothing but feed them fruit and keep them happy. Does anyone know what else I need to do. Clearly, I must be missing a step somewhere.

Time only passes in the garden that you are currently in. It is frozen in other gardens until you step foot into them.

Magnitude and remaining life are completely separate. Evolving faster does not shorten life span:)

I need help. I was raising my dark chao to become a shadow chao, and all was going well, but after a long time he never turned black and red, but he rather stayed green and got a little bit darker (dark green) then went straight to reincarnation. Speed was his highest stat and I fed him fruits and drives constantly. Is there a reason he didn’t turn into a shadow chao?

I think the garden you have the Chao in has an effect. Chao go through second evolution faster in the hero garden. The dark garden is where Chao reach their second evolution at a much slower pace.

to make a shadow chao you must make sure when the first evolution happends it becomes a run type make sure to only use dark characters and feed him alot of fruits to raise stamina and make him grow up in the hero garden

I originally played on gc, and on gc the drive didn't work but I discovered the bug in sa1 cause it is a lot easier to accidentally do it, when I found that out I tried it in gamecube and it worked with animals, but not drives. I did not know drives worked in the pc version. Or does it work cause of a mod? Mine is modded so it should work either way if its a CWE or ECW feature, just curious.

The glitch does work with chaos drives in the GC version. It's trickier to pull off because they float, but trust me, it does work.

Not really, the best way to speed it up is by just leaving the game idle while you are doing other things. Just make sure your chao's happiness is high
