I’m going from ZERO theory understanding to some comprehension….its really helping. I’ve got good rhythm and feel, this stuff is the missing pieces. And yes, I am that nerd…in a jam circle, guy calls out just the 1st chord….a Bb, and with my circle of 5ths wheel, I got the other 2 chords and got to playing along! I don’t care what other pple think of me, I’m into the feel and groove, and want to be on key and know what’s coming next

Brian, I just wanted to tell you. I've been playing for 2 years and bought your course and have logged on learned the first layer of the fretboard and let that digest this past year and am now ready to move on to the caged system and chord tone targeting. Compared to other people, I feel as if I have learned way more theory about how to sound good way faster. Thanks for your course making everything about theory as simple as it could possibly be.

I'm the one that posted the second one you mentioned and I was serious but it came across more complicated then it meant to be. Basically Eg.. Key of Am/C, for 6th & 1st chord play box 1 @ 5th fret, for 2nd & 4th chord play box 4 @ 5th fret and for 3rd & 5th chord play box 4 @ 7th fret.

@zombieguitar
@zombieguitar 28 дней назад
@@matthewperry6506 oh okay...sorry about that then! I understand now that you are talking about the "switching pentatonics" or the "3 pentatonics" approach. That is certainly a valid approach for sure, and I've done lesson vids on it before...but it's not my personal favorite method. I personally prefer to think "one scale and target chord tones", which is what I was talking about in this video. Here's an older video about the "3 pentatonics" approach. I believe I just used pentatonic box #1 for each of the 3 pentatonics, whereas you are talking about lumping it all together into one small fretboard area. It's the same idea though: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-jNubvZbZ9k0.html

Love this lesson! Fills big gaps with just a little. Had the similar problem with air conditioner making noise through interface and it just being noisy. Solved interface noise by running ac off seperate circuit from greenhouse breaker outside the studio and adding fan to drown out ac mechanical noise in room also allows me to set thermastat lower. Hope that helps. Stay cool 😎

(Bratty young adults, they're "gangsters" whos parents have cattle lol) The fan and surveillance cameras monitor in the studio help ignore the riff raff outside. Occasionally ill fire off a few rounds and tell ppl to f off when they get out of hand drunk over there, but usually the fans drown them out.

Thank you for sharing. Would you say if we are into learning blues then the 2nd pentatonic box would be good to learn in addition to 1 and 4 (along with the associated chords within)? Reason I ask is because I see a lot of material being covered around blues licks in the "home base" shape of that 2nd box.
@zombieguitar
@zombieguitar 27 дней назад
I'm actually going to do a vid in response to this question next week. "Blues theory" is a bit different of an approach then what we are talking about here, but even in blues you will find that box #1 and #4 are the ones that are used most often. In order to expand a bit for more "diagonal" playing, people usually add the "upper and lower extensions" to each box pattern. The upper extension is a little piece of box #2 and the lower extension is a little piece of box #5. I will go over all of this in the next vid!
@MixedMuscleArts
@MixedMuscleArts 27 дней назад
@@zombieguitar thank you for the response, sounds good, you da man! I think we'll all forgive the noise if you have to turn on the AC next time. We're at 115F in Central Valley Cali. I feel ya.

I just quit a "band" because the bassist refused to change keys to match vocals. He kept saying " sing it in your voice ". But my voice is in another key than the original. He wouldn't budge. So instead of straining my vocals. I just stepped down. Is that a normal thing to experience in a band?

Thanks for the great tutorial. One question, is G postion the first position? If yes, why is the system called CAGED and not GEDCA? This is a bit confusing sometime.
@zombieguitar
@zombieguitar 19 дней назад
I highly recommend not using CAGED names to label "positions". There are pentatonic positions, and then there are CAGED chord shapes. Using CAGED names to label positions is the root cause of the confusion with the CAGED system. The reason why is explained here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-x2Mb2U-0FUA.htmlsi=1Rucb9WXIUwPDiGG

@@zombieguitar Thanks for the video. Man, you have just a fantastic way of explaining everything. This is why I bought your courses in the past (it's a lot of material and I haven't go through everything yet). For the longest time, I have linked the pentatonic scale to the CAGED system. It has helped me very good in the sense that can solo over the entire fretboard. But based on your explanation, I see that I'm missing the $1M in the safe. Thanks for sharing all this this knowledge to us.

Yes that is exactly right. Here's an older lesson on diminished chords (it's super old so the quality sucks, but it will still give you the shapes you need).
