The music, the moves, the time of day, a couple more angles and this feels like the entrance sequence of some character rushing someplace to start his adventure.
This is the reason I want walkable cities to exist, because there is just something so free flowing about this movement that just literally gets you moving. I miss the times of when there were lots of walking and bike trails and all that instead of just cars upon cars upon cars.
bro what is impressive is that I know for a fact that you're making what you're doing look easy, but it's absolutely not. This is my ultimate purpose of learning roller skating!
@@halfcabmelanchol I’m sure the guy has some cool stuff in his bag but fr he’s just skating, forwards, backwards, hockey stops, crossovers, all easy stuff, I’ve seen people do some pretty nutty shit on rollerblades, backflips off rails and shit like that (they have trick skates with only two wheels so you can grind between them) I would love to see this guy give it a go, even if he doesn’t know tricks he’s got a good base skill set and I’m sure he could learn some really cool stuff, would be neat to see progression of trick learning too
Urban skating is the best! When I was 35 I saw a guy rolling down the streets of San Francisco and I had to try it. There is nothing as cool as rolling through a city, so many surprises and pleasures.cheers!
Absolutely! I had no idea how much I'd like urban skating. All my previous experience was pickup roller hockey as a kid, which I stopped at 16 years old. At 38, I dug the skates out to shoot around at rinks for exercise. Then I found Bill Stoppard's channel, started urban skating and completely fell in love. It's such an amazing activity for me for several reasons including mental and physical health.
this is strangely satisfying. i’m learning to rollerblade again after quitting for nine years. it’s a shaky process but watching people like you gives me a lot of confidence and excitement for what i might be able to do in the future with rollerblades
I do 10-12km - (16-20 miles) every morning. Picked it up again at the start of the year.Commit a short time every day to doing it, seriously you pick it up so quick. I still can’t even stop that well, but I hit the street anyway. Started back on netball courts. Hahaha!
Very energetic , really enjoy it. I love the magic slides you did at the beginning. Any chance you will try to do a tutorial on that ? I still cannot master it ( only the powerslide )
Thanks! Yes, I do want to do something on the magic slide. It’s become my favorite stop, so I’d like to a video on how I progressed through learning it.
You should actually do it. Literally the most freeing thing in the world. I’m not as good as him, but I skate 10km every morning at 5am. Best start to a day someone can ask for.
Just got my skates in the mail last week. I’m learning now. Never skated a day in my life but I’ve always wanted to since I was a kid. This is why I want to skate! This looks so liberating and fun! Awesome work man
Amazing, I hope you have a blast with them. The only thing I don't like about skating is that I stopped doing it for 22 years. But now I plan on doing it until my body won't let me anymore.
@@rerollinginline Hey I know this is an old video, but just seeing it now. Could you advise what skates, wheels, and whatever other gear you're using? I want to learn to skate like this but don't know about the equipment.
@@gyrich i have the same question as this guy. never skated before but want to get it into it on paved trails (no stunts). any skate recommendations for a newbie? and do you recommend hard boot or soft boot?
You know what would be really cool? Have a little radar/blip thing on the screen showing your travels on a map. It'll be cool to see how much ground you cover in real time, like a videogame?
bro I love roller skating and ppl kinda mock me for doing so but ppl like you really make me wanna go in depth in the sport!! (thanks for wearing your protections and your helmet it shows to other people that even with them you can be cool and you are safer)
Classic) A man on rollers cuts the air and slows down time around him) How I don’t want all this electronic nonsense like scooters and electronic wheels to replace traditional rollers and bicycles, your body works, which means you are still alive. We will manifest the Will of a single people (after all, we all live under the same sky and say no to enslavement
DUDE!! A MILLION! KEEP GOING MAN! You could literally skate and vlog (get paid to live life with your family and share it) for a living. Understand the title of this video and what made it stand out. Straight and to the point, “City”urban “Speed” action.
can't tell if you're joking or not, but if not, he's using a 360 camera on a stick to record everything, hence why you can see him switching hands throughout
And this is why I got into skating again, and invested nearly 1k dollars for my kit , to one day learn to fly and commute with skates like this. YAH willing there will be no more broken bones.
It's been around two decades and a half since I last rollerbladed and I decided to come watch videos of people commuting on rollerblades after watching an ig short... it's 1:24 am in Antiguo Cuscatlán and here I am, feeling so energized and inspired by you. You freaking rock, I'm doing this again ❤🔥
Good job zooming around the pot holes in Philly I took a spill couple years ago heading to work on my boosted board on market manhole cover was like 2 inches below grade haha
Save up 20 dollars a week and in 2 months you can get yourself a pretty decent set, i highly recommend giving it a shot. Give yourself a few hours a week to skate at local sport courts. Go for it!
I miss skating ... i would skate the no so busy ares to work all the time. It was so much fun. Thats some really cool areas youre going around. Where do you get your skates?
have to admit, for the first half of the clip i kept thinking "who the heck filmed this though?" until i saw him swapping hands holding the magically invicible selfie stick :)
@@MacLeigh I honestly think it's situational, which is why I use them all when skating. The other reason I use them all is just to make sure I keep my skills sharp with all of them and it's always easy to use any of them. That being said, it's kind of hard to beat the magic slide in terms of pure stopping power. The faster you're going, the more useful the magic slide is. If you're bombing a hill and need to stop, a power stop isn't going to help. But... the magic is also the hardest to learn and takes the most lateral space to set up until you get good at it (it takes up far less with practice). So I'd say they're all useful and I learned them in order of power stop -> power slide -> magic slide. Also... the soul slide I think is not talked about enough as a slowing/stopping technique. I use it multiple times in this video but for example at 1:07 I use it twice, once on each foot, to slow down going down a hill. I'll be doing a video on this sometime soon.
@@rerollinginline Totally agree about the soul slide. Pretty easy to learn on either side, and easy to be confident using it at high speeds. I think people also don't talk enough about making slides instinctual. What good is a slide if you can't do it immediately when you have to stop without warning?
@@erikrhodes6324 Yup, I soul slide more than anything to control speed. It's like a drag stop on steroids once you get comfortable with it. And yeah, that's another reason I slide more than is completely necessary - so that when I truly need it to be safe, it's just instinct.
So cool, made it look so easy , is that a drone or what's being used to record because I know nobody is actually skating backwards that period of time ( I actually thought that 🤣) nice job and preciate the video , It definitely was nice seeing the city and that quick move at the 4:00 minute mark 👍
It's an Insta360 ONE R camera on a selfie stick I'm holding out in front of me. The camera stitches out the stick automatically and isn't even in the recording.
This looks awesome! Loves the music too - a perfect harmony for your skating. My daughter's has asked for inlines for Christmas; I'm sorely tempted to get some myself. Too late at 56?
how to hide record stick? Can you tell me about so that app or another one?.....Please help me.. I am crazy skater. But i have a problem for record video. And then help me record skill.😣😣😣😣
Thank you! When going downhill, probably over 20 mph/32 kph. On the flats probably usually between 10 mph/16 kph to 15 mph/20 kph. But I’m not sure exactly! Just guessing
@@rerollinginline , I had one follow-up question though if you can guide me. I went through a lot of videos to understand whether should I purchase a 4 wheel inline or a tri-skate. My priority is speed, smoother mobility on rough surfaces and cruising long distances, which the tri-skate addresses perfectly. But the reviews say that tri-skates (3X110) are probably difficult for the beginners as compared to 4X80 from stability point of view. Could you guide me on which one to purchase (although my heart is on the tri-skates in spite of a steeper learning curve). Thanks!!
@@dipeshotwani5824 I really can’t, unfortunately. That all comes down to individual skill preference. I also have very limited tri-skate experience and I’m not a beginner. You say you’re returning after 15 years? How well did you skate 15 years ago. I can tell you from my experience, after not skating for 22 years I did not feel like a beginner at all. My body was a little rusty and hesitant, but I could skate no problem. However, I have heard people return after 15 years and say they were a beginner again. Everyone is different. It unfortunately comes down to trial and error. If you have prior experience and really want a tri-skate, then you might have no problem at all. The other option is to make sure you get skates with removable frames. This allows you to try different setups. I’ve got 4 different frames I can use on my same boot.
Hard wheels help for sure. I use 89a hardness. You really gotta finesse the movements and transfer your weight from one leg to the one being used for stopping. Getting a steep angle helps figure it out.
I bought this and it arrived yesterday, I tried it and have a hard time just by standing, I don’t have a hobby and I want to try this. I hope I can go back to this comment if I’ve improved myself on this area😊wish me luck❤
Couple questions for you- What are you using for wheels, and do you feel the smoothness or roughness of the ground surface determines whether you use a full slide or the drag stop? Your magic slides are extremely smooth, and I was trying to determine whether you did them on rougher surfaces or only where it was hard and relatively smooth. I've burned a lot of wheels practicing that slide, and wonder whether it's the roughness of pavement around here that makes it so hard.
In this video I'm using Undercover Team Blank wheels (86A hardness) but I do magic slides on my 85A Rollerblade Hydrogens just fine as well. Many things can impact which braking or speed control method I use in a situation. Of course rougher surfaces will be harder to slide on, but with enough practice, you can do most slides on most surfaces (within reason. some surfaces just need to be respected, lol). I would just recommend learning on smooth surfaces first and continue to practice, practice, practice to really get comfortable before trying different terrain. I spent a lot of time working on my braking methods in controlled practice settings so that in real city sessions I'd feel confident and comfortable.
I'm just getting back into inline skating after 23 years. F, it's been a scary few days! How are you stopping sideways? I never did that. I always just dragged a foot behind.
Sadly, this is almost impossible to do at this speed in my place in the Philippines. Busy roads, occupied sidewalks, and broken pavements = accidents P.S. Roads start to get busy as early as 6 A.M.
OK first off, what camera are you using. Second off...this is Philly. I did almost this exact same route this morning. I'm in Old City - hit me up with a message. Let's go sometime.
I have a video coming up in which I experimented with that. Simply put, it's just more annoying and harder to hold the stick behind me instead of in front of me, while still capturing footage worth watching. I'd like to experiment a little more though, as people have asked about that kind of perspective before.
Wow, it's very flowing like skim-boarding, the fastest I've seen with self-videotaping. It was my first time to see open inner slides, which I thought less harder to learn and more stable than parallel slides (didn't know and dared not to practice)!
You know this makes me want to return to skating. 3 years ago i was going stupid fast and i ended up being distracted and i hit a parked car and had a broken arm+both legs looking at this video it makes me want to go back
I’m low key thinking about roller blading my way through Vegas as a cheap alternative to travel in the city Well I grind out security work. Gonna try to make a trip to establish myself and then move my dad out a few months later. The cardio from skating should help 😂
I’ve not spent a lot of time in Vegas, but if I recall correctly, it’s pretty flat, so skating could be effective transport if there are bike lanes etc. Thr cardio would help, lol!
@@rerollinginline I weight lift mostly as my form of exercise, the cardio from skating would complainant my training. Well that’s the copium to it lol, luckily my friend/ co worker who’s going with me next week also skates
It's a 360 cam so the stick doesn't end up in the recording. I use the Insta360 ONE R Twin Edition. Their website has some info: blog.insta360.com/how-to-use-the-invisible-selfie-stick/
