you mean like selling prints of artwork already created, or a place where people can get like "customized" artwork? I have a society6 society6.com/remarin where you can buy a couple of prints but I havent updated it in a while x: after all, I only get a small percentage of each sale, so its not actually a major source of income at the moment

Le weel I've been drawing nearly everyday for about a year now, and I can say practice makes perfect...then again, I'm one of those kind of people who learn best by just doing it and getting hands on learning. So if I can do that, I believe that you can do it too! 👍 Edit: I have a speedpaint vid up...but I personally don't like it..Backgrounds and shading are among the few things I suck at.

For my lineart I use the third one from this pack: www.deviantart.com/pixelstains/art/3-Pencil-Brushes-for-Photoshop-520322091 I haven't used a proper "inking" brush in ages, last time I tried it was a total mess :'> The "softness" of the pencil-like texture is very good at making sketched-lines look cleaner than they actually are. With a hard-round inking brush my current linework would look totally scratchy (though it probably is just a thing of not being used to it anymore)

I'm currently closed for commissions, I use a list system to accept and work through new orders :> I've been getting some asks about commissions here on youtube, but until now I've primarily worked via deviantart so I didn't think of a system for youtube commissions yet. Once I re-open I could make an announcement for commission-opening via a normal speedpaint video here on youtube as well (just as a mention in the title/description with a link to a deviantart post for commission details) It would then probably work like this: you comment "I want to commission you" under that video, I let you know whether there's room on the list, and possibly tell you "send me an email", and from there on the info exchange can commence.

Ryu late reply, but I’d recommend using references like alligators and komodo dragons and tracing over them. That’s what I did and it helped a little :D

I go big: 4000 x4000 pixels at 300 resolution,, if you someday wanna do regular prints of your artwork, you could go even bigger. But at the very least, I like being able to zoom in and paint hair thin highlight in the eyes, which is only possible if you have a big enough canvas. Like you can't draw the shadow of eyelashes if you're on a canvas of 500x500 and your 5 px brush already is looking a bit fat

Remarin Ah yes, thanks. I usually go around 2000 but after I'm done sketching I crop to whatever I think looks good. But sure it makes sense you'd be able to make more details on a bigger canvas.

I would love to record myself drawing in a sketchbook at some point, but I have absolutely no idea how to improvise a set-up for the filming of it :'0 It's not like I can just hold my phone with one hand while drawing - knowing that I have a tendency to get shaky hands. I once tried just stacking up books next to me, and set my phone on the top of the pile with the camera-bit hangin out, but as soon as I would try using my eraser, the whole thing would shake. Thus that's still a work in progress :'3 And yeah, I hope to do more voice-over videos, but at the moment I'm trying to figure out how to stop myself from rambling halfway through. I want it to be a quick and easy process, without the video ending up being 30 minutes long. Lots of things to still figure out >:0

The first one was roughly 1 hour, the second on was 2 hours 30 min :> The first is a bit rougher drawn, less cleaned up, less detailed - there is also a price difference between the two. I like giving commissioners art options on a spectrum at different price ranges for different quality-levels!

Well I'm not sure there would be much to see, I rarely have a saved version of all the separated layers when I'm all done. When I finish I either have just the latest save ( and since I try to save regularly it would usually be after I've merged the whole thing already to 1 layer to make color adjustments) or I just have an extra save of the character and background separated (in case the commissioner wants a version with transparent background) I don't like to clutter my computer with unnecessary separate save-files, but I'm planning to someday go through my process with explanations; I'd guess that that would be more insightful than a pdf showing the character and the background in separate layers. Though if I ever post pdfs of artwork, it probably wouldn't be of commissioned pieces ;3 since I don't own the characters featured in commissions, it would be a bit disrespectful toward the paying commissioner to just do whatever I want with the artwork without asking them for permission.

It's been a while since I put this video together, but it seems I didn't credit that last song because it was a snippet of a not-uploaded track I made myself at the time! :0 I dabbled a bit in Garageband, and I mainly just liked the end bit of that track so I hadn't uploaded it with the other ones I made. But looking back on it, I could've totally just posted it alongside the other tracks even if the beginning is a bit messy, they are all similarly mixed together out of loops and such - So here, I posted it just now and you can download it from here: soundcloud.com/user-977594704/ghostly-dive-270418 I know the feeling of not being able to find a specific song, so I didn't want to disappoint!

The trick is in that little window showing the different layers in the bottom right of the screen! :> Right underneath the word "Ebenen" (german for "layers") you can see a lil' box that defaults to saying "normal". That box features layer settings, so if you, for example, change the setting to "multiply", then everything you draw on that layer "multiplies" onto whatever's underneath. // i.e. it darkens the stuff. So if you, for example, draw with pure white on a multiply layer, it's like drawing with something totally transparent. The opposite to multiply, is "screen", where everything you draw will brighten whatever lays underneath. So if I fill a multiply layer with a medium dark blue, it would make it look like there's a blue shadow on the entire drawing. But if I then, on the same blue layer, add bright yellow splotches, suddenly it looks like there's light shining on the drawing. It's of course a bit limiting since multiply can only darken, so I usually add some gradients set to various other layer settings if the light-areas need to be a bit brighter/more saturated. (layer settings like overlay are usually fit for that job) And with my shading method, I will paint the light/shadow situation on one layer. But since I'd need to use the eyedropper tool to colorpick the blended colors, I need to switch the layer setting back and forth between normal and multiply, since I can't pick the colors off of the multiply version due to it being combined with various other colors in that mode. Hope that explanation makes sense? I don't know how familiar you are with digital art programs or digital painting in general so I tried to explain it as I would to someone completely new to it x:
