I love how each of the characters corresponds to a element, Saige for water, Tana for fire, Raine for earth, and Mira for air. Also the bow Raine uses is actually quite useless cuz the string is too short to be able to shoot any arrow far away, but the design still looks cool.
I actually think that it could possibly shoot long distance because the design reminds me of a mongol recurve bow a really small bow but it’s got a massive draw weight I don’t know if that design was intentional but I think that I could work
I love all of the designs. Minor nitpick from someone who has a biology major brother, Tana's horns are ram horns. Goat horns just grow straight up and don't curl like that, while ram horns are curly like Tana's are.
I occasionally watch Rwby from time to time, but otherwise I like how you had references to your favorite games and a Vanoss pillow in the intro as a nice touch
This is a really cool idea for a team. I personally am working on one called Team NGHT and they're all based on creatures from the 12 trials of Hercules, specifically the lion, hydra, birds, and stag.
Hi Panic, i really enjoyed your video and the way you explained every detail of the character and I'm not going to lie u got me hooked on RWBY again. As for now I'm watching RWBY again from the beginning (I'm at the end of volume 3 at the time of me writing this) and you also inspired me to create my own "RWBY TEAM" however I'm still trying to create there designs and weapons some are more clear than others but yeah anyways thank you and have a great day.
I'm here after Vol 9 finale. I loved the re-designs!!!!!! These are very cool and love that you broke down their semblances and weapons as well during your commentary. ^-^
I love your designs and my favorite is definitely Tana but I would add a chest plate for more armor but I love your design for her and they’re all awesome
Wow these designs are incredible. Love the work you've put into these characters. I do think the weapons could use a bit of an improvement though, especially mira's pistol kusarigama. I can't even begin to describe how difficult it'd be to use if you had the blade and rope come out of the bottom of the pistol like that. still your art and designs are really nice and do a very good job fitting into the aesthetic of rwbys design. like i can actually picture them clearly in that world
Recently I’ve made my own lil RWBY OC though I’ve yet to give this one a name yet. His Semblance is called Double Tap, in which striking the same location with the same part of his body will deal double damage. Accordingly his weapons are a set of Knuckle Dusters and Shin Guards both equipped with Gravity Dust....what were they called, um....they’re like those things from school book fairs where they’re shaped like rulers but then you can slap them around your wrist. Basically he puts those on his weapons so he can drag opponents off balance or towards his fist for the use of his semblance.
Manic I'm surprised about how you drew inspiration from the greek gods and goddess's not to mention your knowledge of the topic. I want to ask about your knowledge of the gods and how much of them inspired your OC's. I won't focus much on semblances as those aren't the whole character. First Saige: I'm surprised first off the connection of water and the goddess of wisdom threw me for a loop. As it goes when Athens was first settled the city gained the attention of both Poseidon and Athena. They fought to become patron of the city. Poseidon offered a sea giving the city a port and allowed it to become naval figure. Athena however being the goddess of wisdom gave the city the olive tree allowing it to trade and prosper. Ultimately naming the city Athens. Despite the fury of Poseidon. I was curious as this gave me a feeling of tension between Poseidon (Sea) and Athena (Wisdom). What brought you to bring the two together? Tana: I'm curious why you chose to make her faunus and the type of faunus she is. I would've thought she'd be based after something that'd be more powerful or determined (honey badger or something) everything was pretty much spot on however I would have like the idea of tana having a shield of any sort being a buckler, aspis, or hoplon. Somewhere to tie her to sparta, seeing as the notion you made how she would be mistaken with pyrrha who has more ties with Achilles and Troy. Raine: I understood the apollo reference and such with the bow likeness and down to earth personality. However I'm curious on the idea of him being a faunus with the likeness of a saytr and being based off of Pan. Again this is my input. You don't have to respond or anything I just wanted to share my interest in greek culture
Ah, I see you're a man of culture as well. 😂 But to answer some questions! Saige is the only character that I personally made. The choices behind the other characters' designs were all up to my friends Raine and Twi, not me. Originally, Team STRM was just based on the generic elements, and didn't have /much/ of a cohesive theme back in the day. We decided on the gods/goddesses thing about a year or 2 ago.
... I did not expect to see this in my YT recommended. *Holy crap it's been so long since I've seen you anywhere*. You prolly don't remember me; we like, never talked, but I've been on the RWBY Fanon Wiki for a while (I'm Jadefire62, as I am pretty much everywhere I go) and I remember loving your characters & Siren Academy. So it's cool to see you're still creating! :D I love the new designs! Also I have Autism too so it's nice to see another autistic creator doing what they love :)
@@MaximumPanic Wait, you actually remember me? *Aaaaaaa I'm honored* Ngl I watched your other speedpaint where you drew your OCs in different universes, which was awesome. But I was also listening to the commentary and I was like "yup, gushing about OCs this fast is also me". XD I could go on and on about my characters if I wanted to. I have my own group I could fit into almost anything if I wanted to as well, I call em my original 13. (Yes there's 13 of them, still very much in development after 8-9 years) Most of BUHI (now BURL) started out as versions of some of them tbh. But at this point the only ones who still fit that mold are Sandi & Rava. A lot of my other RWBY OCs I haven't really bothered fitting into other universes. But yeah I'm rambling now so I'll stop there lol
I made an OC named Raine too. They have a staff/spear/sniper combo. They don't have much folklore stuff of any kind, because they are me+RWBY rules and wishful thinking. Also, they have long hair which they keep tied up. But that's for the surprise factor of their semblance being hair manipulation (they can control their hair however they want, but only what currently exists, so they keep it long) which is really only useful during one on one person fights if they enemy gets real close, or grabbing stuff like extra ammo. They are pretty much water themed is their thing Also, did you put Saige into Phoenix/Night's OC tournament? She looks familiar
Isn't Saige's semblance reminiscent of Hazel's (on paper anyways, since it functioned completely different on the show)? Tana's semblance is a bit like one of Byakuya's Shikai/Bankai's techniques, except made of fire (so maybe the Head Capt of the Gotei 13). The glowing heart symbol is an interesting aspect of the semblance. But since it's a visual indicator of how long the technique remains active, wouldn't the enemy know how much they'd have to wear Tana down (by it beating harder & glowing brighter or vice versa)? Anyways, I like the elemental design & theme of the team.
Yeah, the last redesign hurt my anatomy's bones, you see, I feel like the arm you put behind the character should have gone in front and then the pose would work as I'm not even sure humans could contort like that without hurting themselves... other than that, pretty cool designs, funny enough, your mermaid's hair colour is closer to the original than disney's ever could, as the original was blonde while yours is light brown.
