Speedrunners from the NPC's perspective: Part 1 

Jimmy "two-squeaks" didn't even have time to squeak once the poor bastard

"Concerningly punctual" is the greatest description of speedrunning I've heard.

Just as an FYI, the mob boss npc asks for you to find "Vinny Two-Squeaks" but will accept 'Jimmy Two-Squeaks' as well. It's probably a bug but until it's patched this is the faster route as you can collect Jimmy on the way to the vault before meeting the mob boss. I've been able to replicate this several times fairly consistently.

Incredible all the way through. The purposeful rapping of the door to trigger the henchman to clip the player? Genius.

I love how every time the colorless NPC gets interrupted by speedrunner being fast, it briefly gains enough sentience and consciousness to open it's mouth and put a "holy 💩" look on it's face right before the next line of dialog kicks in.

my favourite part is where he knocks on the door purely so the NPC can open it so it clips into him

Loved how the npcs are shocked at the occurrences almost like a real personal reaction yet then clip into their next scripted line of story dialogue Nice dichotomy

I just love how he used the door opening animation to clip through the wall and skip the 'boss is dead' custscene and subsequent fight to just come back and kill the last guy while he is distracted. Beautiful all the way.

Using the Don's surprised facial expression to the speedrunner's accomplishments and then carrying over that same look of surprise when the Don gets shot was genius.

Can we all stop to appreciate for a moment how great a mafia name “two squeaks” is? Definitely don’t wanna earn a name like that!

I love the cut as the boss looks wide-eyed and then goes back to talking like normal

The box glitching is phenomenal, as well as how calmly they continue speaking while it’s happening! Great work all around!

Love how the boss kept untucking, then re-tucking his shirt everytime he spoke

I love that it's like the ai gains sentience for a split second by how shocked they are. Then the scripting kicks in.

Love that Joel has not only sparked an entire new genre of video, but is actively encouraging and cheering on others who are taking inspiration from him. What a great guy 💛

This is the highest quality Joel Haver animation not made by Joel Haver I've seen!

This was the first Haver-style video I ever saw (before I saw any from Joel) and IMO it's S-tier. The acting and writing are pure excellence.

The "glitch through wall" clank just adds that extra mile to the video, it's so good

As actual NPCs, can confirm this is completely true.

I love the shocked reaction of the boss before getting back to script.

The voices are probably my second favorite part right behind the actual lines and timing. Such quality voice acting!! I can't get enough of this video. I've been watching it every day for weeks

Imitation is the highest form of flattery. You should share this with Joel Haver I'll bet he'll think it's great. Also anyone who dislikes like this video because it's in the same style. Just remember Joel Haver made a how to animate like this video showing us all how to animate like this. Good job my friend

I never realized how terrifying and efficient the protagonist is.

I love how the boss jumps from shocked back to neutral when he starts reading the script

Just imagine, next time you see someone doing some crazy Florida Man stuff that makes no sense at all, maybe you're just an NPC watching a player trying to break the physics and clip through reality for a speed run.

Everything was so perfect, the faces, the voice acting, the bodies slaming the table

I always like to imagine someone in Hyrule Field watching young Link backpedal 3 miles from Kokiri Forest to Castle Town and be like “what the fuck man”

Wow, this speedrunner finished the whole game in 1 minute and 30 seconds, maybe if he performed that box glitch a little faster, he could've shaved off a couple of seconds for the world record.

The jarring quick transition between the dialogue, shocked silence, and dialogue again is so good

Calling his animations “Joel Haver” style makes me so happy. I’m glad there’s still space for inspiration without people jumping to calling things “stealing”. Your work is incredible and keep it up! Edit: I honestly didn’t expect this comment to get the attention that it did. But to anyone who weirdly managed to see it now (4 months from original posting), yes I do know that this is just a form of rotoscoping and it’s been done before. But besides this creators work being wholly original and amazing on its own, what I mean is the general themes, dialogue, humor, and context are admittedly and beautifully inspired by Joel Haver’s work and I’m sure by the work of many others who also inspired Joel Haver himself. I loved most of the reply’s but I’m just making this because some people seemed to get weirdly salty about my original comment.
