Speedway UK 2023 News - Peterborough Panthers 

A nice thought but I suspect that would be excluded in the contract with Eurosport and is the watching audience now so small (in TV terms) that they wouldn't be interested anyway. Sky dropped Speedway because of falling audiences

It’s really sad to see how speedway is declining. The average age of fans seems 40 plus. I started going was 14 with my mates who went a year before. Got fed up going to football because of all the fighting. Then was hooked my old team hackney. The Grand Prix is popular I know people say it’s taking the best riders away from uk. But it’s the only type that gets any publicity. Even England winning the World Cup really didn’t get much exposure. I have no tracks near me maybe 60/70 miles away. Social media get people back but it’s the age thing I suspect. I can only see one big league next year as if a successful team like wolves have to close then I don’t know. I really think it’s so very sad this sport is dying hate to say this. Think the demise of the northern teams has impacted so much. Halifax hull etc and hotbed of speedway the midlands incredible how that has changed. Such a fantastic family sport no trouble etc. very sad. I so hope and pray it gets back on its feet

@@paulsowney771 Interesting thoughts but sadly I think this sport is only going one way although Workington's new track is a little ray of light. It seems that the number of people (like you and me) that consider this a fantastic family sport is declining. A 140 mile round trip doesn't attract you to return as a spectator does it!

10 family members attended the under 21 British qualifier at northside workington yesterday afternoon , a great afternoon of family entertainment, its a credit too the promoters and volunteers .

Yes Bill, sad to see such a long established team as Peterborough disappear. It is a long shot that they find a new location, Workington have done this but I suspect land is a little more available up there
