Speedy Centering 

In this silent sped up video (with the exception of the music playing), I show how to center a ball of clay on the pottery wheel. This video is for individuals who are beginning on the pottery wheel and could benefit from seeing the hand positioning needed in order to center.
I demonstrate multiple ways to position your hands. There is not just one correct way to position your hands when you are centering clay. I suggest trying many until you figure out which one you prefer and one that gives you the most control. Sometimes you may find that you use a combination of positions or different hand positioning depending on how much clay you are throwing with or what kind of form you are throwing e.g. plate vs bowl vs mug or cylinder.
We all center differently, so I encourage watching many people and trying different methods until you find what works for you. I hope this helps. Happy creating!
