For this one I looked back at the class and what it has to offer. Believe it or not, solar machine guns are pretty rare. In this review I talk about who it is for. There are a lot of you that won't find it useful, but for some of you, it brings something to the table you have not used.

People are really sleeping on the origin trait. Its really weird in a good way. Example: when you proc stuff like voltshot the puddle inherits it and spreads the lightning without consuming it so you're basically getting double uptime on the perk and we have 2 arc weapons coming from this season. Worth playing around with to see what other weird interactions happen.

I think you've nailed who the gun is for, yeah. Generally I feel a lot of people are weirdly harsh on seasonal weapons when a lot of them are clearly aimed at people who don't raid/do dungeons, not saying all of them should just be crap but we're not getting more than 1-2 per season that can possibly compete with guns from harder content.

Still like Fixed Odds more overall though this one's origin trait is fantastic ofc. Praying for the eventual reconstruction solar machine gun.

Incandescent heal clip is for solar hunters. Marksman dodge, scorch gives back dodge, run benevolence, throw grenades and knives. Works really well with calibans.

It’s a good gun but not amazing. The rapid fire frame really hurts it on controller compared to the other archetypes. SFA can only do so much. But despite that, this Christmas I’d encourage everyone to get an incandescent Avalanche… What this MG really has going for it (and why I think the pattern is a must-acquire for endgame players) is that Deconstruct + damage perk roll. If we ever get a mission or encounter where we need to kill Turrets or vehicles very quickly, you’ll be glad you kept this. :)

This thing really is for everyone, but especially the people you mentioned. Contest level raider here. I've been waiting for this thing to drop all damn episode. I never farmed an avalanche, don't play trials frequently, and don't particularly care for Fixed Odds, but its been my only Incandesent MG option. I would much rather a 450 or 900 LMG. Got this thing unlocked immediately on drop and sent my crafted Fixed Odds to the funeral pyre lol.

Great breakdown as usual. Just wanted to note that while the adept version of unwavering duty is unobtainable, you can still get the regular version. Even if you've never gotten it. The first focus will cost 5 engrams for those players, and then it drops to 3 for each one after. Costly but not impossible.

I rolled a SfA + Incan on Trust and it quickly became my favorite Solar weapon perk combo. Incandescent procs Stats for All and REALLY improves the feel of the gun. Without something like that, SfA feels a tad laborious to proc.

This gun is really fun to pair with Choir of One. So you essentially use Choir for damage and your heavy for add clear. You can even run The Call in your kinetic/darkness slot and run double special again with this gun, since it holds so much ammo and manages to clear rooms so well. It's a dang good time. Big fan of this gun, and the style and design looking so good really helps!

Envious assassin with incandescent is the god roll for this. Way better than stats for all. Gives you one 200 in the mag and all you have to do is kill like 3-5 ads first that’s it. In any gm etc, you’ll be killing hundreds of ads anyways. Take 5 seconds to kill a few ads then swap to this and clean house. You say it goes against the point of it but that’s 100 percent false. Makes it able to just unload in everything and almost never run out of ammo. Having over 200 in the clip is insane.

I normally do not like this archetype, but the initial explosion from the origin trait is very good for ad clear. Really tough competition from Unwavering Duty but I think this one will be worth trying. Incandescent machine guns are particularly great for Solar Titans since you can make tons of sunspots.

This gun feels really good, and I'm not exactly sure why. I'm a big fan of Delirium from back in the day, but it's not the rapid fire frame. They don't feel the same. I've also had the dawning gun, and that also doesn't feel this good. I just got it crafted to final form last night, so we'll see if I screwed it up. Some guns just don't feel the same after crafting changes. Dead Man's Tale has never felt as good in a crafted form as the OG with subsistance I got from the original mission Anyway, I'm a fan of this gun, but will be running it with Envious. I tend to clear trash with primaries, so this gets pulled out when the density reaches a certain level, or yellow bars become numerous. After having 3 machine guns with Reconstruction, I'm never going to settle for reloading by hand again. Envious is almost as good, and fits my playstyle fairly well.

Fixed odds is ASS that’s why. I have it crafted and it’s horrible. Sure it has incandescent, but the mag size is small asf and atrocious, plus the perks outside of incandescent are outdated asf. All the third perks are trash. Plus it’s a 360 those are the worst type of machine guns rn.

@@hatchell18 you’re not wrong, but the value of field prep skyrocketed when chest reserve mod swap got patched. Enhanced = 2 mods of extra ammo plus big boost to reload *also high impact lmgs have the highest dps of per shot damage of machine guns towards red/orange bars

I wouldn’t sleep on Envious Assassin for this thing. I got an Envious + incandescent roll and it fills itself up pretty quickly in my experience. Was just using it in Battlegrounds the other day. Idh the pattern yet, so I’ll try the other combos when I get it crafted, but envious was working really well for me the other day.

I feel the same way about destabilizing rounds. I’ve been farming the hammerhead for about 2 weeks and can’t get even 1 to drop and the gambit one has too many perks in the pool along with needing 3 engrams. Would love a void heavy machine gun to pair with the destabilizing rounds of choir of 1. Feels impossible

Yes and no. I believe avalanche is better all around, BUT very dense areas? This one. Also, this one is very good against shrieker/cyclops etc with that deconstruct roll. So Avalanche all around if you have the right rolls on it, but this is more niche.

Hear me out on this. You made some very good points and gave great history on solar machine guns. So, with that said, I see huge potential with Stats for All + Strategist. Artifact perks aside, Phoenix Dive and Acrobat’s Dodge will greatly benefit from this perk. You said it best, it’s an ad clearing weapon. It’s rapid fire and can get the needed 10 kills quickly to get the class item back. It will build into Prismatic as well. Also being legendary makes it build into and exotic Kinetic or Energy weapon. Picture a Prismatic build with Facet of “Hope, Solitude, Protection and Ruin” Lots of possibilities. Food for thought.

I really hope they focus on balancing weapon archetypes between the elements going forward. Aside from the obvious deficit of stasis/strand good legendary or exotic weapon types, even amongst light elements the weapons are all skewed. Void is banging for legendary heavies. Arguably best sword falling G, best grenade launcher Edge T, Best MG’s Commemoration/hammerhead, and potentially the best linear Doomed P. The only one it loses out to is solar with rocket launchers, Apex P. Solars decent for heavys, some like MGs and GLs arent fantastic to my knowledge. Its arc thats really lacking (arc seems to be continually shafted). Its swords are meh, its MGs are meh, it has a good Rocket Crux, its GLs were good ie wendigo but you never see anyone using them now cos Edge beat its ass.

Speleologist does look neat, but hampered by the things you brought up: I ad clear with anything but my heavy, and I already have a Fixed Odds crafted with enhanced Field Prep/Incandescent so I have great ammo reserves, stupendous reload if I crouch briefly, and it's more stable and easier to control than a rapid fire. That said I won't judge someone for rolling with a Stats For All/Incandescent combo on this weapon as in lower tier content where you aren't concerned about boss or champion dps you can have a lot of fun mowing through crowds with that thing.

@@adhirg it does better damage, has way better ad clear potential, more modern/updated perks that are a lot better, has a better Intrinsic, and way more ammo etc.

I saw the perk pool on this thing and didn't care. I have 2 crafted Fixed Odds. One with field prep / killing tally and one with field prep incandescent. The only thing that would have interested me would have been demo / incandescent, but even then, the frame is off-putting for me. Fixed Odds seems highly underrated and seemingly forgotten in this day and age. But, realistically, I haven't needed a solar machine gun since I got the patterns for it.

Speaking as a solo pve player. Just solo duality its a rather easy dungeon last fight can be tricky to learn but still super easy to survive. Guns not really worth it but most the dungeon arent super hard to solo. Ghost of the deep is probably the worst mainly cuz the last boss takes long alone then doing the entirety of other dungeons. I can do duality is a solid 40 min. Ghost is like 2 hours.

Also I’m 99% sure my solar machine gun (avalanche, sub/incan) is from your suggestion at the time. You’ve always been on point, and I used that machine gun through all of the season for the raid, and master parts that didn’t require specific heavy. Fixed odds with FF/incan did work, but it was not as good or efficient.

Get envious with it and you get over 200 in the clip. Even more then reconstruction and almost never have to reload.

@hatchell18 I'm not really into using one I have to build up on a primarily add clear weapon, especially as 900s chew through ammo so quickly. But I'm sure it works well for the way some people use this weapon. Auto- loading does well for me as I frequently swap to whatever I feel is best for scenario

@@philipt2798 this gun is great in gms against champs and anything else too. It’s not just for ad clear. I wouldn’t use it for boss raid dps of course, but it melts champs and bosses in gms etc.

I have it too and it’s ass. This is a million times better with envious and incadescent. 200 plus mag size and never have to reload.

@@hatchell18 ya I don't think envious is good on lmgs. I don't wanna get kills wit my weapons to load rounds into my add clear weapon. Gimme that field prep, Incan fixed odds anyday. Better ammo economy, better perks

@@dabtasticcharizard9817 um it’s basically active 24/7 dude. It’s not like you need to constantly be swapping weapons like with bait and switch etc. It’s just like reconstruction. You’re going to be killing hundreds of enemies with your rocket sidearms or whatever main weapon you use anyways. You won’t ever be using the lmg all the time. But whenever you do swap to it you’ll have over 200 in the clip. It’s not something you need to manage. Anyone saying they don’t want to get kills to load rounds because it’s too much work etc has clearly NEVER used the damn perk on this thing😂 literally almost procced 24/7 with 0 effort at all. This is a million times better than clown cartridge. Also fixed odds is trash my guy

I don't really care for that type of play style wit an lmg, swapping off my add clear gun to clear adds with a new gun to load rounds into my add clear gun. u can do it if u like just doesn't really sound all that effective in higher end content. Destiny is a silly game, you just die sometimes for literally no reason, specially in like GMs so loosing all those envious rounds is also a big issue Do as ya like, but in every term except for raw DPS, which is redundant on an add clear weapon, fixed odds better

@@dabtasticcharizard9817 dude what part of it’s active all the time and you never even have to think about it don’t you get? USE IT before assuming shit. People like you just assume it’s tedious or a chore to manage when it’s not. Like bro in a gm or dungeon etc you’re going to always be using your special weapons or primaries for most things. Kill a small group of ads with a single voltshot shot or literally any weapon which takes seconds, then keep going ham. It always procs naturally without you even trying. Everytime you WANT to swap to your heavy it’ll be procced. You never have to worry about it.

Kinda BS that the Witchqueen Dungeon Key never goes on sale since it’s silver only. The dungeons are not worth 20 bucks, especially considering full on older expansion collections go on sale as low as 15 bucks regularly lately.
