Spencer Rattler has been hyped for a long time. From high school, to Oklahoma, to South Carolina. Rattler is a fun prospect with a lot of upside, but can a team mold him into more then a project piece?
Rattler faced pressure on 38% of drop backs and his O-line saw 10 different starting combinations. He’s already faced adversity and he’s still a gamer. He’s my QB5
@@aiden2804 I like every bit of context when I’m watching and ranking QB’s in the draft. People would have a heart attack but I’d have to make a video of my own to explain each QB. 1. Penix 2. Daniels 3. Williams 4. Nix 5. Rattler 6. Maye 7. Taulia T 8. JJ Mcarthy 9. Jordan Travis 10. Michael Pratt
Undrafted. I met him and went to OU. THE BIGGEST DBAG in the world. Doesn’t practice. F’s his best friends gf. Last one in, first one out. Thinks he is a God. It’s comical, almost like Denis from it’s Always Sunny….. that’s a recipe for a Super Bowl winning quarterback.
100% He's a poor mans Pat Mahomes. He reminds me a bit of Baker Mayfield, love his confidence and swag, he could be a great Raider and who wouldn't want a RATTLER jersey right?
@@UZI-hb3cu Well, Jayden is the guy AP would WANT, bbbbbut they might not be able to work out a deal and go high up enough to grab him. If the Commanders really want him it's over. Rattler isn't a sure thing by any means, but there is a lot of upside to that guy in case we can't grab Jayden.
Perfect project is the best description of him. We’ve seen he has talent he’s had years to mature. The question is can he do it in the NFL. I think he has a good chance
Rattler credited his OC Dowell Loggains as being the #1 influence on helping him prepare for the NFL. Loggains is a disciple of Sean Payton from his days working with him on Bill Parcells staff in Dallas. He's also worked on 5 other NFL staffs. In other words...Rattler has been running much of Payton's playbook for the last year at SC, & has likely gotten a ton of familiarity with NFL concepts from elsewhere as well. Contrast this with the spread offenses that Bo Nix & Michael Penix Jr. have been running while surrounded by elite players & protected behind the best offensive lines in the college game. If I were betting on which of the three becomes a legit NFL starter, I'd bet on Rattler.
He seems like the ideal later round flyer high ceiling but falls due to low floor, i agree the jets and falcons would be good fits but some more good fits are the steelers, dolphins, raiders and depending on if they draft a qb before that maybe even the broncos.
Would love my Pats to grab him. I think we have way to many problems on offense to fix right now to invest heavily into qb especially with MHJ is just staring us in the face. Jacoby Brissett is very underrated and could see him being our Alex Smith.
Terrible offensive lne. A lot of dropped balls. Decent runner. Above average arm. Forced to throw on every down. A little undersized at 6ft and 215. Still think he can be productive. Has had his feet to the fire. Must clean some stuff up. Average footwork must improve. Could be decent if he has some help . Best case scenario, compare to Russell Wilson. Will have to do a better job choosing when to run. Will not be effective in NFL rushing laterally. Can he be coached up is the question.
I think he'll actually be around in Rd 3 for the Broncos (my team too) to take a flyer on. If he pans out, awesome. If he doesn't, we don't lose much since he's not a super high draft pick.
I can’t help but feel like if he can just get good NFL processing on even just a decent team with a decent play caller he can actually be a goood QB in the NFL
Good job covering Rattler. No need to go over his negatives. Due to his early career people already have too negative of an opinion so they have a hard time with bias. There is a lot to like and should translate to the NFL. You should also cover Devin Leary from Kentucky. Another guy that gets overlooked in this draft that can really pop with the throws he can make if you watch him. I have a feeling the NFL likes him a lot more than the media does as well. Anyway you should check him out.
His OC is a Sean Payton minion 😂 I think he's Sean's back up qb pick to Bo Nix. Broncos don't have a lot to move up, so they may have to let the board fall where it may. If Bo is picked up before the 12th pick, I can see Broncos moving back for a 2nd rounder depending on the move back position because they don't have a 2nd round pick at the moment.
interesting take. personally i don’t think mix is worth the 12th overall pick. if we wanna trade back to the mid 20’s, sure why not take the shot. worse case scenario if we trade back and he’s taken we can draft rattler
Sean Payton is not going to draft Bo Nix because he's not a fit for his offense despite what all these RU-vid draft gurus have been saying.. He already has his starter for 2024. He signed him as the first move he made when he came to Denver. Look for the Broncos to draft somebody like Dallas Turner or Byron Murphy in the first round. It would not surprise me if they get Rattler in the 3rd as well. Also...South Carolina's Xavier Legette, who is 6'1", 225 lbs, ran a 4.39 forty at the combine, but more impressively, Legette clocked the fastest GPS speed in either college or pro football last season, faster than Tyreek Hill. He'd look really good in Denver..
Bo Nix is not ready to be an NFL starter, & he may not be for 2 years...or more. Sean Payton is not going to start a rookie QB, especially one who comes from a system like the one Nix does.
@@user-zr4km5ns8t what the hell you talking about? Bo Nix literally has the most college experience in college history and is used to the short pass game system that's almost exactly like Sean Paytons. And this is the deepest QB class in years, next years class is horrible, why tf would he wait another year for a worst class? Everything you said was just straight up wrong
His horrible offensive line is why I think he’s one of the most nfl ready of this class. He’s not going to panic over the speed difference, he’ll have better receivers, and has the arm to make the throws. His eyes are always downfield, and he never throws off his back foot.
Or, he's going to be very surprised at how much faster the NFL is and he's going to not be able to adjust in time. Just like Zach Wilson. He's going to panic and run out of the pocket prematurely because that's how he's been conditioned. Just like Zach Wilson
Rattler was smart to step up on that throw he does not want to throw from his end zone especially with a o-line that can collapse at any moment plus he does not have the speed to outrun those Georgia linemen.
Some thought that Lincoln Riley intentionally mishandled Spencer here in Norman, wanting instead to play Caleb Williams .. and it seemed that way to some of us local fans.. - The fanbase here wishes only the best for Mr Rattler and will now cheer for him on Sundays..
@@kiwi4kian it is a worse spot rn but they are about to get a wr1 in draft and have just overhauled most of their Oline. We will if it’s a team that could excite a QB by end of the season but I think there is a decent shot NYG takes rattler in 2nd or 3rd round.
He plays like Mahomes plays now for the KC Chiefs because he has too. Not saying he is equal to Mahomes ... but Rattler had a Bad O line and had no choice but to play the same way Patrick does.
Rattler w/coaching could "could" rise up from nice backup to a fill in game winner, but w/film on him NFL defenses would be tough. Again against good teams....eh. However he is an over achiever, he's definitely willing. Teams don't have patience- they do not give qb's the benefit of the doubt...see Geno Smith, Sam Darnold (this year will be much better), Baker Mayfield. What I'm saying is if he goes to a decent team w/good coaching??? Eh, he'll be selling insurance in four years. Thanks brother, appreciated.
Miami Hurricanes could've gone 9-3 with Spencer Rattler as their QB instead of Tyler Van Dykes last season. Miami Hurricanes had one of the best offensive line units in the country and with the starters playing all 12 regular games.
Hes a bug time boom or bust qb, however, we say the same thing about Drake Maye. Im sorry. I dont see much of a difference between the 2 as prospects. Both are low floor high ceiling guys with big time arm talent and a handful of mistakes every game. I dont get how one is QB2 or 3 depending on who you ask and the other is widely considered QB 7; behind Williams, Maye, Daniels, McCarthy, Nix, and Penix.
Because you keep one play on a loop at a time and prolong the video by doing so, it's hard to scout him for ourselves with a limited array of selected plays to watch. I hope my criticism helps as I believe we all could help one another be better at anything we do.
I disagree w the part that "he's not polished"-I think his mechanics and processing are pro-ready. When you break him down on film and don't just judge box score, but really look at his teammates and the competition, there's no good reason to explain why he slipped to the fifth round. I think it was just his name. There has been such a negative connotation w his name bc of the Netflix series and the fact that he got benched for Caleb Williams, people wrote him off as another overhyped 5-star recruit who flamed out-but the truth is, he actually thrived in adversity and still showed all those elite traits with his arm and intelligence. I wonder if Rattler had transferred to Oregon or Washington instead of Bo Nix or Penix, and got to play in a better program with an easier schedule, how differently things might have all played out. Either way, I think he's the steal of the draft-if Spencer gets a chance to start in New Orleans, his four years of starter experience and pro-style play might emerge like Brock Purdy did for SF.
