Once a transaction is done and cash has changed hands, the seller does not have the right to ask for it back! Very tacky. You could have just said "No"- but I'm guessing you were trying to keep the peace.

I’ve had it happen to me. Kind of. My wife had purchased a book for me through an LCS’s website. They pulled it and held it. She called and said my birthday was in two weeks and she wanted to send me up there as a surprise to pick it up. Their online price was $80. Well 2 weeks later. My bday comes. I go to the shop and they pulled it from the hold section and tried telling me I couldn’t take it home. That the price had increased by an additional $60 and I needed to pay that additional pricing. Fortunately. My wife called and talked and worked her magic. And basically said they needed to stick by their prices set to their online presence. So. Long story short. I still got it for the price she paid. But. It was a big hassle.

Marvel Universe 3, that was the set of cards that got me into comic books basically. I was like 11 and my mother and I started collecting them, and then I read the backs, and then, bam comics.

I bought a sealed box of Marvel series a few years ago for like $40 and had an absolute opening packs like I was a kid. It really took me back since it was my first set. I remember liking that they rate each mutant’s powers on the back of the cards.

Wow I’ve never seen that happen myself, I’ve heard horror stories of dealers being like that, but how can you not know the profit margin of a book you are selling? If they made a mistake and sold it for less than what they bought it or something like that, it’s their fault not yours lol, really grinded my gears 😂 great vid tho

Saw you at Terrificon this year. I gave myself 150 for the first day and was very happy with how much i was able to actually get. Cash is king and is way easier to make deals.

It was fun watching your style flipping through the books. Everyone has their way of perusing. I liked how you kept saying, "Nah, I don't think so!" Usually when i watch these comic RU-vidrs they say, "Yeah, I'll take this and that." Nice display of restraint, sir.

If he had the cash and you had the book, that transaction was completed and you should have kept the book. You were kind in doing that, but I wonder if he would have done the same had the situation been reversed and you went back and said you overpaid. Great video.

Nice discipline in digging. There were several issues I would have pulled to the side for consideration. With all the DCU and HBOMax drama going on, regardless of the polarizing opinions of MCU Phase 4, it appears the “safer bet” in spec or straight up key issues are Marvel. Hopefully the market remembers that DC, and more importantly Batman keys, should be bulletproof from some of this nonsense.

Let's give credit (though this won't be a surprise with the level of quality Gary delivers) for a thorough and steady hand when filming the WALK-THRU. I cannot stress enough how many guys upload walk throughs of various shows and yet have no awareness or capacity of foresight to realize what they are looking at might not always be what their *camera* is looking at, to say nothing of what the show LOOKS like. Gary you did a great job showing the atmosphere and layout and more comic hosts need to follow this example.

I bought a current comic book once from a shop where you sign up for a free membership like a punch card. I bought this book and on my drive home they call me up and say they need the book back because it was supposed to be reserved for someone else. I should have told them to shove it, but I gave it back the next day. They didn't even offer anything as a thanks. Never shopped there again.

I have a few slabbed Transformers 8. One 9.8 direct and another 9.6 newsstand. He newsstand also has a date stamp on the back cover in an inconspicuous location which is cool. Have not been able to decide which one to give up! Also have a raw Mask #1 newsstand. Was debating having it graded but it’s maybe a 9.4 so just holding it. Paid a few dollars for it.

Hey Gary, would you mind showing a video sometime of how some people put together comic con displays? I have my first one coming up and I’ve been trying to find videos of helpful tips for selling at them and how to layout / build a wall display. Having a hard time determining price points for bulk books like $1 or $2 or even $3.

Honestly pretty hesitant going to a con, from videos I see prices aren’t all that great especially considering you have to pay to get in. Went to this show its always ok ever year nothing grand I rather go to the beacon toy show that you showed last week feel that's a much better show and cheaper too. At least if he took the governor back he should have gave you a deal on another book to be fair . Take a couple bucks off .

I picked up a CBCS 9.4 new mutants 98 for $400 @ local comic book show. I looked up grader notes it says non color breaking crease in cover and slight non color breaking spine tics I can barely see them I think im gonna have it cleaned and pressed and submit to CGC

Cons can be real fun but not if you get chased down for a return (kind of odd honestly). As far as the guy cutting up comics.....I disagree. I know a guy who creates fantastic display pieces. I commissioned him to do one and gave him the comic to do it. We all know the endless longboxes of books people will rarely pick up and that keeps growing with all the FOMO and overprinting. Good to see somethin come of it.

Thank you for showing us the entire floor nice. But as for the seller to ask for the comicbook back because the price was too low is wrong on the person's behalf of asking his associate who sold you the comicbook to give it back, is not the way to do business. Once the deal is closed and final the seller no matter the price it was tagged given the seller should have honored that transaction and not go against it, not the way to do business like that at all. It's messed up. But God bless you Gary, not only that you kept your composure the entire time yet probably felt humiliated or embarrassed maybe upset disappointed even at the same time, you kept your cool and moved on. Small moments like that i'm sure there are some that will debate or dispute about it as the buyer has a right to do so to discuss the matter as long as it's civilized in a non violent way, but you did right to just move and not look back, good for you. Something better will come along the way that's worth spending on. As for the seller to do bad business that way God bless him. Thank you Gary, keep up the great work i enjoy your contents on your channel. Cool.
