I'm not 100% sure but I think even more mature spiders do this, they are one of the first critters to show up on newly formed islands. They launch by streaming out Web from a high perch into the prevailing wind until there is enough to lift them into the air, and away they go, they have even been found up in the jet streams, but I would imagine for every one that ends up on an island probably a million became fish food.

spider can regrow lost limbs so it will probably be fine. the spiders don't like your bathtub they just fall in there and can't get back out. thats why its a good idea to have a towel draped over the side of the bath so they can climb out if they get stuck. spiders in your house are far more advantageous than they are a pest. I just leave them to get on with their bug killing business I'd much rather have some spiders than flies or roaches

@@adjustedbrass7551 They will literally chase you down they hunt for their prey and don't use webs. I just moved thankfully but the last house I was in we used to get one a week. Though as immersion therapy it almost squashed my fear of spiders completely. I just still won't let them just roam in my home

It's because they used to be gigantic enough to eat us. We destroy the atmosphere so bugs stay small, we cant let the past happen again

@@DrawsRene arthropods are limited in size by the amount of oxygen present in the atmosphere to support their growth. They breathe through small holes in their exoskeleton. In the age of dinosaurs they were big enough to eat raptors, if not for the meteor rain that killed most of life they would be unstoppable and we would not be alive to tell our tale. We need to destroy our climate if we dont want to become food for our sworn enemies: "the arthropods"

@@youtubestudiosucks978 First of all, the age of the giant insects was not during the time of the dinosaurs, it was during the carboniferous when life was developing on land this was way before the age of the dinosaurs. Second with the global temperature rising and humidity going up insects are going to only breed faster and we'll experience swarms of them everywhere, which will create pestilence and cause famines as crops and food storages are completely destroyed. Last but not least, we need oxygen to help muscle development, the more oxygen in the air the bigger our muscles can grow.

It's the only species we know of that actually does this, the rest of the jumping spider species don't partake in this behavior and some exclusively hunt other jumping spiders

(Condensed info at the bottom). There is also a pseudo-mammal jumping spider. The female gives birth to a very small amount (for a spider) young, comparable to most mammals, which she gives milk to. The milk (for now) is believed to be re-used un-fertilized eggs, hence not a true mammal I assume, but it is completely identical in function. The babies feed solely on milk, without it and the mother's care they die. The species is actually an ant mimic too and it is located in China. They mother has the same affection for her offspring as humans (better imo) as the kids can stay in the den until they reach maturity, and even after the females can still stay (or visit I guess) if they want, while the males do get kicked out when reaching adult stage generally, just like humans, they must travel to make their own family. But, as spiders go, I don't think the male lives with his family, probably due to their shortened lifespan, not to mention no real benefit here from the male anyway. There is no benefit of the offspring staying with their mother in their adulthood, so it's almost as if there is a lot of affection/love going on. I also assume the males couldn't stay even if the mother wanted it as their lifespan would not allow them to just live there for a while and then go onto find a female, so it's a really necessary thing that the mother tells them to leave. Perhaps.. And this is just my theory, these spiders evolved this behaviour in part from being close to ants (if they are that kind of ant mimic, not all mimics stay close to ants necessarily, and not all prey on them either) they picked up the whole family structure, but most likely it was just a similar evolutionary path to us, where instead of hundreds of offspring of which

I had a gnat infestation in my apartment a few weeks ago that I resolved with some vinegar traps but I opened up my closet and noticed a small spider web and around 30 dead gnats around it. These little fellas can be a huge invisible help at certain points.

I try not to kill mine. I like to try and capture them and put them outside on my deck and hope they setup shop nearby to help control mosquitoes and such. Though, when I find them in bed with me suddenly they've sealed their fate.

I always seem to have a car spider hanging out on the side mirrors. They have a great ability to resist wind.

I understand a lot of ppl are scared of them but they really are harmless to us. I hope one day you overcome your fear. I also used to kill bugs and be scared of them but I don’t anymore 🤗

@Coon Pooch A wolf spider bite is as harmful as stepping on a tack so killing it would just make a house more prone to bugs for no reason. Most spiders don't go out of their way to attack humans and the spiders that do, live in remote places.

That’s adorable! I wish that I was your daughter… Unfortunately, my arachnophobia stemmed from the fact that I had a lot of surgeries after I was born due to a major birth defect, and my very first memory was having my stitches being taken out from my stomach when I was just before three years old… They looked like insect legs to me and I was screaming bloody murder as I was squeezing my mom’s hand while they took them out. I honestly believe that is what is the foundation of my early childhood arachnophobia that has lessened a bit overtime but I still have it to a great degree.

Not really close at all other than being arthropods. Theyre about as close as you and i are to dogs.

On topic of true insects and intelligence, it turns out ants are not just a hive-mind, but the individuals are as intelligent as they can be for their size, they are so self-aware that they recognise their reflection in the mirror, when one had a blue dot painted on it's head and it saw that in the mirror, it touched the spot. It then differentiated another ant behind a clear glass/plastic wall.. Very impressive, same reaction as Elephants, matter of fact.

@@rockk9753 I have learned one thing I thought was interesting... I learned that the male platypus fights other enemy contenders using hidden deadly spurs on their hind legs, and they are deadly because the spurs inject some type of liquid poison into the body of the other male they are fighting.
