Well, now, with the Spider V coming out....these are $239 new from Line 6. I use the Spider IV for my main amp. I love the reliability and convenience of it. No cables between pedals to go bad. No power needed for the footboard (just a Cat 5 cable from the head). If dialed in correctly, it can be a really great amp. I know a lot of tube snobs bash Line 6, but I have a Peavey 6505+ that gave me nothing but problems. It is 100% again, but i'm looking to get rid of it. The cleans on the Line 6 rival the 6505+ hands down. To each his own, but affordability, reliability, ease of use, convenience, & maintenance-free...Line 6 wins!
I couldn't agree more about this amp and the 6505+. Couple this amp with a nice cabinet and you're set. I think the key with this and any amp is to spend the money on a good cabinet to get a good tone. It's also a pretty easy to find this amp used online so the ease of replacing it come in handy.
Wow,... Pretty cool,... *Question:* Is there an "attenuator" that can be placed before the speaker that can used to play at low volumes w/o losing the high volume crunch,... (sort of like create the Eddie Van Halen effect) ? Thanks.
I have never tried to use this with an attenuator but it does seem possible. I know that some of the newer Panama cabinets have one built into the cabinet for this very purpose.
Richard Lowe I assume that it's a combo amp. If so, then you can plug this head in the speaker of that amp if it has a plug. Otherwise you may need to make your own plug or modify the speaker cable to connect the two.
Hi! I have a question, to edit the presets with the computer i need only connect by USB de footswicht? Or also needs to be conect the amp head with the footswicht and finally the pc, thanks¡
Arthur Mendoza Jara from what understand, you need to have the foot controller connected to the amp via the Ethernet looking cable and USB to the computer to edit the presets using the software. It’s also cool because you can hear the edits in real-time
This kid at work today tried saying that his line 6 was better than any tube amp. I just let him ramble. He's trying to say he can get any tube sound out of his line 6 spider 4 head! HAHAHAHA!
Holy Crap !!! Did you do that intentionally?!?!?! You about blew my speakers and eardrums with that insane volume blast !!! YOU'RE talking is so low and your guitar is so loud !!! Good video but horrible audio editing !!
