Spider Leg or Orni Wing Design

I plan to make an Octo pod spider with this method to make the legs. I will be able to go forward, reverse, turn right, and left with two motors, 8 gears, 4 planetary gears, and the two motors with pinion gears. Also, I'm considering how to use this as a very light ornithopter wing for an ultra light, servo ornithopter.

Perfect! Will you drive adjacent (1 pair) of legs off of 1 drive source (motor, servo, ???) or 1 source per leg? Tarantula lives!!!

+the1realanalogman My plan is to have 4 legs per side all moving the same direction. 2 of those will move together while the other two are 180 out of phase so at any time, 2 legs from either side will be on the ground. Gears will keep their timing correct per side and one motor per side so it can move forward, backward, and turn. It should be pretty fast! Then next will be Ornithopter wings.

+the1realanalogman Ha ha! The prototype will most likely be 10-12" across, but it will be driven by two motors, one left and one right like a tank. But, I do plan to build a bigger one too. It should be much faster and much stronger than the 24 servo Octopods because it will not rely on the individual weakness of any one servo.
