Spider-Man 1967 - REVOLT IN THE FIFTH DIMENSION - Bakshi's Psychedelic Marvel! 

Dimentia 5 is 1 of the greatest science fiction stories I have EVER seen. I saw this a few times as a kid, but didn't understand it until I was an adult. Outstanding.

Spider-Man, Speed Racer and Ultraman were favorites in the mid to late 60's! I remember those psychedelic backgrounds and all that swinging! 😝

Revolt in the Fifth Dimension / Dimentia Five is my episode of Spider-Man / Rocket Robin Hood. 😉

I remember being intrigued by the Rocket Robin Hood/Spider Man connection when I was 9 or 10.

I remember seeing this episode on Rocket Robin Hood. It would have been the early 70s. Scared the crap out of me. Then, much to my horror, I see it again on Spider-Man!!

Bakshi's animation was so batshit crazy. love the guy.

Spider-Man 1967-1970 was a joyride especially during that era. Ralph Bakshi brought something into the web slinger. This was a interesting episode.

Maybe the sphere turned white to hint to viewers that the adventure was all an LSD induced experience?--and that Spiderman takes groovy drugs. The part about the religion in Dimensia 5 is very interesting--it makes me want to know more about it. :)

Damn all this crazy rocket Robinhood stuff is so much eye candy! Pair this with the 1980s Bernie Wrightson Spider-Man comic "Hooky" and you have a psychedelic Spidey double-feature!

Yes, this was the strangest and most psychedelic episode. It is said that ABC refused to air Revolt in the Fifth Dimension. And yes, Bakshi took it and another one, Phantom from the Depths of Time, from his previous series Rocket Robin Hood. Spider-Man's budget had gotten very low by the third season, and most episodes at this point were remakes of earlier ones.

Were "Infinata" and "The Phantom from The Depths of Time" related on their mother's side or their father's side, it's clear they both had fashion issues ( the Phantom wears a cape for example..who wears a cape any more) but that doesn't speak to their lineage or their inability to dress themselves.

10 years after this episode Aired , there would be an adaptation of Spiderman on Japanese television where he would fight against aliens and demons almost every week.

Really enjoying your comparisons of the Bakshi episodes. This might be a very long shot but would you be able to do comparisons of Tom Harvey's three roles of the Bakshi era that were basically carbon copies of themselves:- - Radiation Specialist from 'Specialists and Slaves.' - Master Technician from 'Swing City.' - Doctor Atlantean from 'Up From Nowhere.' Tom played the villains who were basically similar designs to each other with very little changes but confused the heck out of me when I saw the episodes in the box set. I saw Swing City on the TV in my teens and the surreal moments really stuck with me. I was amazed that the character was used multiple times in different storylines to cut costs. But I found these awfully facinating to compare and also how badly the quality of the episodes got towards the end.

With as many times as you replayed the scenes, I'm shocked that you did not point out this blooper... when Spider-Man/Rocket Robin Hood put the module into his ring, he was wearing the ring on his ring finger. However, when the ring was removed it was removed from his index finger. Also, when you pointed out that they did not retrace Spider-Man over anyting "how about that" that was because they were reusing animation from the first season as you can tell by the fact that his chest emblem spider has only six legs. I also believe the running cycle to be taken from an earlier Spider-Man episode if Spider-Man's back is clearly arched upward even if he is leaning forward whereas both rocket Robin Hood and Little John are hunched over and therefore Spidey could not have been traced from one of those Cycles.

So what happened to the warrant after that and did Bakshi ever come back to Canada after that?
