One thing I noticed with this game, even as a kid, is how dark this game is. It feels so grim, Spidey is helpless, the levels are so liminal, they always take place during sunset or nighttime, and the stakes seem super high. Every time Spidey makes a joke in this game it doesn't land very well.
I remember seeing this game for the first time at a Toys R Us where they had a PSone portable LCD screen on display (which is what initially got my attention). At the time I was a huge fan of the original game, so news that this game existed meant I had to buy it shortly afterwards. For what I can recall, I always had the impression that this game was "darker" in tone for years, partially because of the creepy dark city levels and the more ambient music. The first half of this game seems to hold up better than the second IMO, and isn't as consistent as the original in that aspect. Still fun for the occasional playthrough, but definitely not as memorable as the first.
It's a shame there wasn't a third game to close the saga and with a sinister six And I expected some villains from this game like: Green Globin Main villain Secondary villains: Hobglobin Black cat Kingpin The Rose Son of Kingpin The Enforcers Alistair Smythe And your robots hunt spiders Man-Wolf (Jameson's son) Morbius Vulture Kraven the Hunter Chameleon Hydro-man Jackal With the clone saga The return of Sandman And finally Beetle Secret villain And all the villains from the previous 2 games return A shame it will never happen.. 🥺😔 like and Bye!
I personally believe they have different tones in stories. First one seemed more in the day story of spiderman While this one had a more slow who done it. They definetly addressed many issues from the first game.
