Spider-Man 2 - The Best PS5 Game 

i like that when peter and miles are talking while swinging, the subtitles both call them spider-man but with their own logos to avoid confusion

The fact this came out only a little over two years after Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart blows my mind. In this day and age where the gaps between individual development studios’ releases are getting larger and larger, Insomniac cranking out games every two or three years is wild. I’m sure they have individual teams working on different games (a Spider-Man team, a Ratchet & Clank team, etc), but it’s still crazy.

As a longtime comic book reader series like Insomniac's Spider-Man and Batman Arkham actively validate my fandom because they wear the source material on their sleeves and use them to their fullest extent. Glad to hear this is no different

Y'know, I understand a review implies spoilers, but you guys really need to list whether or not this is a spoiler-free review if you're going to release it before the game comes out.

Insomniac have been the unsung heroes of the PS5 with Miles Morales, Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart and now this, and so I’m unsurprised to hear that it’s both amazing *and* spectacular. It’s been a long road from this game’s reveal to its release, and these’ll easy be the four longest days of my life while I wait to play it lol.

I've been struggling to decide whether I should get a Series S or a PS5 for as long as those systems have been out... but I think with Spider-Man 2 looking as good as it is, I've finally made up my mind. Spider-Man PS4 was already my favorite game for that system, followed closely by Miles Morales, and by all accounts this game is even better. I'm even going to splurge on the Digital Deluxe version for the first time in my life, if only so I can have Miles rocking that sick Kamen Rider-like Tokusatsu Suit. (Only way it could be better would be if Peter got a Toei Spider-Man suit to beat down bad guys as the Emissary from Hell...)

I haven't even played the first game and yet Steve's glowing praise has me excited at the prospect of playing this one.

The reviews and the fact I've barely had any PS5 games to play since I got one make me strongly consider getting this game, it seems like it could be quite good on a big 4K TV..

I want to watch this review. But I haven't played Spider Man 1 yet and I do plan to in the near future. I would've preferred a time to skip to rather than just a spoiler warning so when I saw that I had to stop as I didn't know if there would be more spoilers in the review.

I'm liking this video.. but I gotta say, I couldn't watch this past the first minute until I beat the game myself. This video feels more like a recap of all the cool things that are in this game, rather than a review that someone should watch before playing the game to decide to buy it. Feels like there was more about the game that was spoiled in this review than I would've liked. Maybe for reviews of big open story based games in the future, you could open with a quick disclaimer for what types of things within the game you'll talk about before jumping into it all? Love your guys' content, just kinda sucked I couldn't watch this until after my initial playthrough 😅

Dude imagine this decade at this quality Spider-Man in Paris or Rome, or Tokyo. Rockstar Games has great competition now in city building. Also Spider-Man's traversal is almost unfair competition 💟🌌☮️

As a non comic fan, the PS4 game is my favorite piece of Spidey media ever. The fact this is coming out in the same year as TOTK is absurd; and I'm beyond hyped. Your commentary on the technical prowess of this game is especially exciting. Great review, it was Pure Bliss just to watch!

So...there are only three major candidates left to fully suss out. Super Mario Bros. Wonder out the same day, Alan Wake II the following Friday and Like a Dragon Gaiden in Early November.

If you ask me, the "graphic upscaling" trend wont stop. In some way, the gamer community becomed addicted and obsessed with graphic power. Every new itteration of Spiderman will try to top the previous one. Watching the gameplay and reviews, what I see is merely a "more realistic" game rather than a "different" or new game. SM2 looks just like the first one but with extra whistles. Sooner or later the gaming community will realize that better graphics/realism is not equivalent to a "good game" A good game has the objective to be fun. And games become "classics" not only for the fun they offer, but for the uniqueness of the art and lore. Im seeing non of that here with the new "better than ever" Spiderman 2. And its starting to worry me how the gaming industry is forgetting about this fundamentals. All I see with this "blockbuster" titles is how souless the industry has becomed. So, what im trying to say is that, given that the "value" is balanced mainly to performance and graphics, given time, gamers wont want to play previous itterations due to the fact "the prequels look washed out, saturated, have bad textures, the sunlight looks off" etc (paraphrasing what Im reading in the comments). This comments are revealing to acknowledge that the SM games [or whatever] were not "good games" to begin with. They were just a performance show off from the tecnology at the time. Thats were their value resides, and thats what gamers are buying. Reading the comments, gamers are more worried about how the game looks rather than the "game" itself. Its sickening. And its just screams "bad taste". What supposedly and originally was considered a masterpiece, now its "outdated" [talking about SM1]. And eventually they will believe the same for SM2, SM3, SM4 and SM5 while waiting for the "newest release". On the other hand, we have games that dont focus merely on graphics, but on being genuinely fun. Games that offer a unique experience, personality and lore. Games with a colorful soul. Those games become classics for decades, for years to remember. Gamers replay them over and over again. To conclude, this Spiderman games wont ever be "classics" due to the fact they dont offer ART. As soon SM3 releases, SM2 will be in the bottom of your trash can. Proove me wrong. Because tecnology always is improving on itslef, previous titles will rapidly be forgotten for the "next and newer" Spiderman. You are not buying a game, nor art, you are buying performance. And thats is sad to say the least.
