Spider-Man: Homecoming - Official Movie Review 

The description says Alonso but there's no Alonso. Where's my boy Alonso.

this movie is super fun and thrilling. Kenton crushed it. he was down right terrifying

Definitely the best Spider-Man movie. It has such a command over its characters and tone that it injects pure entertainment straight into the veins. Spider-Man/Peter Parker is portrayed perfectly and even the side characters are injected with so much humanity that it elevates their basic archetypes. Michelle is a good example of this. On the surface she is just another loner girl with some pieces of insight, but the way she is handled and the way that she is portrayed conveys more depth to the character than you would expect. It's that handling of the characters that makes this the best Spider-Man movie. Also the Vulture was great in this movie. Sure he doesn't get loads of screen time, but he embodies quality over quantity, and he is used judiciously and effectively to the point where it paints a great picture. The way they handled Peter's irresponsibility and how they used Tony Stark to help develop Peter's character is great. Also Queens is great in this. There are so many great little moments in this that I could continue rambling for hours. One of the best films of the year, and another mark for a great year of superhero films. P.S. the Captain America stuff was fantastic.

Reboot of a reboot of a reboot

I actually wanted an origin story. Origin stories lay the foundation for the franchise. Without it, this movie just threw characters at you expecting you to automatically care about them. Because of that it doesn't have the heart and soul that the Raimi trilogy had. Speaking of characters holy shit was that casting for Flash terrible. Peter looks like he can beat HIM up without any super powers.

Glad to see someone finally agree with me on the plane sequence. It was way to hard to keep track of everything going on. The scenes on the ferry and the Washington Monument were way better.

Wow, the description taught me a lot about Spider-Man. I didn't know he's a talented, young getaway driver, or that he's coerced into working for a crime boss. I always thought he remained a hero, very interesting.

I feel like Christy should heighten her standards. When she casually says a movie's great then gives it a 9 or higher, I feel like it wasn't deserved. Those should be for the AWESOME, AMAZING, MIND BLOWING films. I didn't get that sense with this review.

Okay, I just got super hyped when Christy said Shocker was in this movie. He's always been my favorite Spider-man villain and we are finally getting him after five damn movies. I doubt this will beat Raimi's first two, but fuck yeah for that.

I'm with Christy, this is the greatest spiderman film. The Ramey films have a classic vibe but ultimately just lack in the performances, homecoming's cast is flawless. Such brilliant acting done by all, on top of great action, pacing, and even the 3d is a stand out for me. Marvel is crushing, fantastic film after fantastic film. Guardians vol.2 is a deeper experience, and flourishes in it's subtext. But Homecoming is perfect in it's execution.

Loved it. Best of the SM movies. It was a bit long, but great through out. I'm surprised they didn't mention the John Hughes reference. I was like, "oh, this scene is a Ferris Bueller reference" and then Farris Bueller showed up in the movie. It was kinda on the nose, but at the same time it was kinda perfect.

Tom Holland is without a doubt the best Spiderman, but this wasn't the best Spiderman movie. It just barely makes 3rd place in my opinion. The first two acts were weak. The movie was humorous, which I liked, but it was impossible to have real moments because there was a joke every second. Alot of those jokes didn't even land . Homecoming was decent at best.

Anybody whose read an original spider-man comic/ultimate spider-man know that Spider-Man's story telling is 85% home life/high school, and 15% percent spider-man. That's who the character is, and his personal life plays a huge factor into the action at some point. So people who complain it's too much Peter have never read the comics and know the character that well. Spider-Man 2 was the same way, that was just us seeing him as an adult a couple of intertwining story lines which made it a complex Spider-Man movie, which is why it's the best.

I loved this movie but Rami's Spiderman 2 is above and beyond still my favorite comic book movie to date. This had a very different feel, so it's hard to compare, but I put this as second best.

I like how they changed Flash Thompson from a muscular white jock into a smaller stuck up rich kid, the use of diversity is a nice change to, like how they made Wilson Fisk black in the daredevil film.

I love how Matt stops saying anything about the plot to be careful on not spoiling anything, then they show the trailer right after lol

Great review and I'm really looking forward to seeing this movie.

Spiderman 2 will always be my favourite Marvel movie I guess. I did love Homecoming but not as much as Sam Raimi's first 2.

MATT!! That was sooo stupid!! How can you rant and rave about the film so much (even more than Christy did) and then give it a score below hers!!?? This is one reason why people don't like critics!! If you're going to 'score' a film at least justify your score by telling why it is what it is! This movie looks so uneventful. Once again, Planet of the Apes>>>> any Marvel release of the year. It has a 70 out of 100 in metacritic, which is good for a blockbuster. But nothing spectacular. once again, another cb entry that noone will take seriously outside the fanboy circuit.

People who believe it is on par with Spider-Man 2 (or maybe even 1) are in total denial of reality, especially if you look at it from a filmmaking and storytelling perspective. What you also have to take into consideration is that Homecoming is fresh from memory where as Spider-Man 2 has already stood the test of time and it still holds up. I wouldn't be surprised if Homecoming does not stand the test of time and then it will be even more apparent that nothing beats Raimis Spider-Man. I remember when Spider-Man 2 was released and all the reviews you could find was in newspapers and they all gave it a stellar score. Good times.

They say they are glad they didn't do an origin story but... how come Spider-Man's skills all seem not-so-natural to him? Everything looks mechanical like he's Darth Vader or something. I always thought Spider-Man shot webs from capsules created by Parker and not Stark? It just looks weird like he has no natural talents.

I loved the Toby McGuire spider man and the first Andrew Garfield Spider-Man movie, but Tom hollands level of annoyance in civil war was unbearable. Imma pass on this.
