Adam and Jay react poorly to the news the that Spidey, currently, won't be in the MCU anymore, and have a few choice words for the powers that be.

Today on pReview'd, Jay and Adam react to the Spider-man MCU, then review it, and at the end Jay gives it his special rating. During the MCU they also talk the internet being on fire. Also in this MCU, i.e. the spiderman out of mcu, or as it's known on the streets, the spider-man out of mcu, Adam shakes his fist. A lot. But it wouldn't be a spiderman news if Jay didn't speak from the heart. But that's not all, this spiderman sony marvel deal also comes with a spiderman movie deal. All this for the low, low price of you hopefully watching the 5 - 15 second commercial before the video. As much as I love Spider-Man and want him in the MCU where I truly do think he belongs this is Disney’s fault (and I work for Disney). Going from a 5% cut to 50% is insane even with them wanting to split the production cost. But I do believe they’ll work it out in the end. Spider-Man is just to important in the marvel universe

They used that character for the part of the story they wanted, and now with all the stuff they've added its just not worth it to them to focus on something they think that their not getting enough of a return on.

Before I actually listen, I think I can guess Jay’s reaction from the thumbnail...Yup, I was right. I love your idea of “staying together for the kids” but instead of us as the kid, the kid is Tom Holland. If these “arrangements” last until the kid is grown and out of the house then we have 7 or 8 years (2 to 3 movies) because Tom looks 12.

This is a loss-loss situation for both parties, they need to work this out ASAP. They did too much of setting Tom Holland up as the new RDJ of the MCU to let this fall apart now. The beauty of the MCU is that it is all interconnected and after endgame and far from home, to have to recon the whole thing makes absolutely no sense to me. Even Fiege's comments saying, "we told the story we wanted to tell.." makes no sense considering the last film ended on such a big cliffhanger... I am hoping this isn't a done deal.

Yeah but in the last Spider-Man movie what they did was take him out of Iron Man's shadow and make him Spider-Man. Which what was cool about that is when Spider-Man is Spider-Man not only are you your on hero, but what also comes with that his the public for the most part thinking your a menace.

To be clear it's the fault of Disney. They wanted controlling interest over Spider-Man. It's all in the report that was put out for everyone to read. Sony doesn't need Disney either. While they made Spider-Man 3 and the amazing Spider-Man 2... They also made into the Spiderverse the first Amazing Spider-Man and Spider-Man 2. Disney's greed got in the way. There's no problem with wanting more money but they wanted control over production as well.

They apparently need Disney to make a Billion dollar Spider-Man movie. And btw Kevin Feige worked on all of the Spider-Man movies, including the Rami ones.

I listed one animated movie. The others were live action. Feige was a producer yes but had very little to do with them. He was working g on other projects. All the Spider-Man sony made did over 700 million minimum. Sony made great Spider-Man movies without Disney. Like Spider-Man 2 which is one of the 10 best comic book movies of all time.

This really sucks , but we could see venom and spiderman and sinister six . Marvel was getting 5% it's not being greedy to ask for more plus split the cost of making them . I really think Marvel should just put an offer to buy back the movie rights .

This news is so sad! I can't imagine what a non-MCU Tom Holland movie would look like...especially after he has been so entrenched. I mean, no Happy/aunt drama; no mention of the whole stepping up as the next iron man or his crazy new suits...and now that he is unmasked, I can't imagine Fury or the other Avengers not stepping in at any point or how he would protect himself in the public image without more help than Aunt May (what with the accords in place now and all) i mean, what would the movie even be about if they don't have any of this stuff going on? Would it basically be a full reboot with the same actor? Because, ugh, I am SO over the spiderman reboots. They finally got him right, why are they messing with it?!!? 😣😢😭

Totally agree with you guys on this. Spidey needs to stay in the MCU! He's been my favourite superhero since I was three years old, and I've known for years that he's the heart of Marvel. Fingers crossed that Disney and Sony can work things out!

I don't think Disney should get 50% but giving them a measly 5% of first day sales is ridiculous. Disney's work on the films is valued much more than that.

#8:25 Thor, Black Panther, Ant Man, War Machine, Dr Strange, Wanda. Plenty of people left. However this version of Spider Man just worked so well with the old and new pieces of the MCU its heartbreaking to not see it continue.

I'm very excited for Sony's non-MCU Spiderman Universe: Into the Spiderverse. You think Disney would ever do that? NO, they would Pixar-ify the crap out of it!! All these Sony Spiderman Nay-sayers, but if tomorrow Sony announced a stand-alone live action Spiderman movie starring Tom Holland written and directed by Lord and Millar... 75% of them would suddenly change their tune.

I don't care about the companies (both are greedy), but I love the mcu. We already don't have iron man and Cap....we need spiderman. Not sure why they just can't keep the same deal and move on.

Disney’s being greedy. I love having Spidey in the MCU; but I’m siding with Sony here. Spiderman is the property of Sony; and while Sony has had a couple of stumbles- they’ve also had some really good films (including Spiderman 1, Spiderman 2, The Amazing Spiderman 1 & Spiderman: Into the Spiderverse). And as they’re a professional movie studio- they learn from their missteps. Neither Sony nor Disney “need” Spiderman in the MCU; but both Sony and Disney would benefit with Spiderman in the MCU. That said- I’m still hopeful that they’ll mend fences. Cheers!

Not. Disney wanted to co-produce the movies 50/50. That means 50% of the revenue. Sony would rather have the 95% they were getting for only putting the money up for the movies and not actually doing anything making it.

jinxie712 Disney wants too much- 50% of the revenue for all Spiderman adaptations (including Venom, Morbius, etc)- resulting in Sony relinquishing some of the control of their own properties. If Sony film makes $800M- they keep it all. If a coproduction makes $1.2B- Sony only gets $600M. It’s better for them financially to not settle for 50%. That’s just smart business.

What do you think will happen when Tom "X3, Rise of the Silver Surfer, X-Men Origins, Elektra, Daredevil" Rothman is in charge of the movies himself?

jinxie712 Right- because studios have thrived throughout the decades by repeating the same missteps. 😂 I think they’d shift Lord & Miller to help oversee the film division. Though I’m still hoping that Disney and Sony come to an agreement; it ain’t over yet.

Y'all shouldn't be bombed out to much because I believe Sony can make something work by they self because that Sony has probably learned a lot from marvel studios to the point where sony can carry on there own with spiderman even though I think its bonkers that thy hey are breaking up to, but u have to look at the picture, look up what Tom Holland at D23 backstage when he was interviewed, and u have to think that Sony by themselves had four really good spiderman movies on there even though personally I like all of them some more than others but I did like all of them.

X-men and all their villains, FF and their villains primarily Doctor Doom, who will be the next Thanos. They have so many characters now, they only character that Marvel would be missing out on is Norman Osborne, and that's about, it. The rest are just part of the Rogues Gallery.

Welcome to the world of high stakes negotiations, boys and girls! Come on though. Disney's previous deal was pretty good. Disney got ALL the merch, they got to use Spiderman in their Marvel movies, they got to use him in their theme parks, AND they got 5% off the TOP of the box office for Sony Spiderman movies. That was a pretty sweet deal. When Disney went to the table and suggested 50% of the box office profits, yyyeeea....ok....sure - they would put up 50% of the marketing and movie making costs, sounds fair. Until you learn they didn't bother to cut Sony in on ANY of the merch or theme park money, they just did a grab for a bigger piece of the money pie. SO, their offer wasn't really to become "partners". LOL So, Sony just gave a middle finger and walked. Nothing is set in stone until it's set in stone though, so there's still room to keep fingers crossed!
