the music in this game is very good, it has the atmosphere of investigation and mystery that the animation has ... The spider man made colorful and too happy, he gets boring as a character ... I think this spider man in this animation is even better than the best of cinema that is tobey maguire
Funny how you defeat enemies by punching them, since Spider-man wasn't allowed to punch people in the animated series due to censorship. Also, saying the words "kill" and "death".
Funny because in the Batman animated series, there were plenty of more ‘realistic’ elements. Did they think kids were stupid? Why is it ok for Batman to punch people but not Spider-Man? Also the common criminal gangs in Batman TAS all used actual guns and not lazers like Spider-Man TAS and both these shows were from the 90’s.
When I was like 15 rented this game and beat it over the weekend, I really enjoyed it and liked it. Some people say Spidey looks funny, but it's a nice game even if it's made by LJN. I even recorded the ending on VHS.
It might actually be their best game since wall crawling and webslinging actually work. You'd be surprised how many Marvel games failed to include those basic abilities back in the day.
The fact it's nearly impossible to move from foreground to background on purpose is probably the worst thing about this game, you know it's bad when even the longplay struggles
Had this when I was a kid. For what it is, it's at least playable. LJN got a company to make a decent game for once. I mean, mimicking the animated theme song somewhat on the SNES is pretty good.
LJN aren't developers but yeah their games gotten better even during acclaim.... well before bankruptcy along with all the other publishers from our childhoods - midway games, thq inc, acclaim entertainment.
Cool how Venom in this game acts as he did back when he had his own solo series in the 90's, being this super violent anti-hero leaning more towards the villains side.
I had it on my softmodded original Xbox along time ago it wasn’t a perfect game but I kinda liked it and now I’m just stuck with a stupid ass Xbox that is really boring and it’s not soft modded yeah I just fucking love boring old shitty games instead of good 1990 games on my Xbox yeah I missed that soft modded Xbox now I’m stuck with shitty Xbox now it’s just shit shit shit
Imagine how awsome this game would have been if the controls were better. Look how often he has to try multiple times to wall crawl or ceiling crawl. That was the downfall of this game.
I agree, there's alot of elements in this game that I like. But when it came to simply moving from the forefround to the background or wallcrawl, it could be a bit of a pain.
This game was fantastic. Just so good! It was certainly easier than f’n maximum carnage lol. It was funny they had characters not even on the show in this game like Jack o lantern and the Owl haha
My brother and I got to where we would never die. We played this like nothing else existed at one point. It was very fun to us. Awesome video and good memories.
I loved this game as a kid. I had it on the SNES, and it was hard as balls. I was never really any good at it though, I always struggled to even beat Doc Ock. This game had so many awesome mechanics, though, really set the standard for Spiderman games at the time. You could use all sorts of Spidey's abilities, his eye color even acts as Spider Sense! Don't even get me started on the dope-ass soundtrack. This game was just so cool and I was never good enough to see it to the end haha XD
Doc Oc 🐙 was the easiest, boss. You just shoot webbing 🤘🕸️ in his face, so the electricity ⚡️ will zap & kill ‘em. The Lizard 🦎 was a little bitch, too. They were all easy, to kill & woop 💥 on, lol 😂
@@cozmicmojo2181 Agreed. Animated series is pretty strategic for it's time, I liked the unique aspect of it. Multiple abilities, option to completely ignore certain enemies and a sense of proper objective makes this game one of my favorites. Beat em ups get repetitive quickly. However I kinda wish I knew the SNES version before lol, I've always played the genesis version and now is the first time I'm seeing SNES version, it looks so much better.
Ah, the armless green snake-monster, my favorite aberration... I ❤️ him! Okay, that crap was very difficult. I just remember spending an hour or more having fun with the Coney Island freaks (my favorite level).
I don't know if people think this game is good or not. In my case, i consider it a bad game because you get way too close to the edge of the screen when running, making it harder to react to incoming enemies and attacks. i also don't like how clunky and anti-standard the controls are. some of Spiderman's animations look kinda bad too.
My first thought even as a kid was that it had a very weird first level. A science lab laden with traps and weird bleepity blop music should have been at the halfway part of the game.
I'm glad there was a video game for "Spider-Man:TAS". There should be a video game for every popular TV show and movie. Additionally, every popular video game should get a movie and/or TV show.
ZaLO I'm sure that you're already aware of this, but there are "cannon foreigners". Those are characters added to a medium, that were not previously in another. For example, in "TMNT II:The Arcade Game" takes place in the same universe as the 1987 cartoon. There are two bosses:Tora and Shogun whom unfortunately, were never used on the TV show. Kind of like the Alien Spider character whom you were talking about.
At first I was like "Where?" Then I saw the red circle with the black dragon and was like "Mortal Kombat in a Spider-Man game??? Do they even have the rights to have that there?"
I used to play this game often as a kid and never made it past the Spider Slayer boss in the city. It had the potential to be a good game, but it was still pretty decent for its time.
@@quintondent5647 I don't remember the name but everytime I defeated him the game wouldn't move forward. I just stayed in the same room going in circles trying to find an exit. It wasn't like that in the snes version.
@@jackdaniels5962 the problem was in the genesis version you have to enter the card keys in order if not the game restarts whereas in the snes version you just put them in and go fight venom
I remember buying this game when I visited family in Serbia. For some reason it never worked on my PC and I was so sad but luckily I can see what it's like
I NEVER played this game Looks pretty good to SNES And.. it's UNEVITABLE to sing the opening song like on animated series SPIDERMAN... SPIDERMAN... RADIOACTIVE SPIDERMAN... Yeah! Nostalgia
There were only a few gaming companies that could screw up ANY Popular Licensed Movie Property. LJN was not only one of those companies, but LJN? They were the KINGS of taking a Popular Movie Property and making the Video Game version a complete pile of 💩poop💩! Now they did have a couple of okay games. Even a blind squirrel can find a nut every now and then. It was really sad and for gamers it STUNK! We saw the "Coming Soon!" Sections in the Video Game Magazines. Gamepro, EGM(Electronic Gaming Monthly) and others showed snippets of these games. However in the end many of them were just AWFUL and gamers ended up blowing a lot of money on games that again STUNK! The 🕷🕸Spider-Man🕸🕷 📺TV📺series📺 was one of best animated Superhero TV shows since the days of the Superfriends show. Also 🦇Batman🦇 the Animated Series was another classic comic book animated show, which also had some INCREDIBLE GAMES! Now I know I had a few Spider-Man games, but I had most of mine on the Genesis. Maximum Carnage and couple of others. But I don't remember ever having this particular Spider-Man game. Odd since again I loved the animated series. So thank you, this will be a treat.
this game looks like i would have attempted to beat my parents ass for buying me it. I feel sorry for what kid got this in 1995 for christmas. I didnt have nothing but this is worst than nothing. like dang yall the real heros.
Only ever played the Genesis version. Both games are deranged and insane and very poorly done. However, the SNES version, while maybe not having as good graphical quality, seems slightly better designed (levels-wise).
Why are all ljn games crap? All the levels in their games are confusing mazes that make no sense to the eyes and the music sounds like dry dog turds being thrown off of trash can lids...correction Maximum Carnage was their only game that was fairly decent and playable
That alien spider-slayer is awesome but it's a little but weird though thar slayer-thing really does like part goblin part spider but thar would be awesome 🕷 🕸 👺
I know a lot of folks will persecute me by using their computer, tablet or touchscreen smartphone keyboards to type angry comments if I say this but this is one of the best video game longplays I've ever watched. 🙂
