Spider-Man Web of Shadows DS TAS in 24:25 (Any% NG+)

I started this project back in June 30th (10 days ago lol) and have been working on it on average 4 hours a day and am super happy to be able to share it will you all! This TAS was pretty fun to work on and I'm glad I finished it in so little time, it was a little annoying at times but once you get passed those parts it's alright. I used to hate TASing fights in this game and preferred movement but since this TAS that has changed quite a bit, I now prefer making enemy fights (excluding the final boss, he gave many struggles). Once finishing the TAS I saw a few places that were suboptimal and could possibly be improved saving a few seconds. Overall this was a pretty good TAS though and would be difficult to improve.

Alright so i tried to do a speedrun and when i was little it took me 5h 43min and 23 sec,and now it took me 42min and 57sec,i still love playing this game on my DSi,it's just too good.

I'm assuming you mean the New Game + category, right? If so, 42:57 is not a bad time.

Actual facts. I just wish the team that made it made more than Web of Shadows and Shattered Dimensions. They nailed what a Spider-man game should be like. It would be really nice if we had more.

@@arctic_mountain they made a lot of those DS metroidvania type games apparently! X-Men origins wolverine, Iron Man 2 and even Green Lantern I'm pretty sure

@@RueLangston that is true, and they are also really fun to play. I guess I didn't phrase that very well, what I meant was I wish they had made more Spiderman games.

@@arctic_mountain yeah true that. But at least they made other marvel titles, and even an Assassin's Creed game on the DS as well, although I'm pretty sure they haven't made any new games past that era

I personally liked Shattered Dimensions better. It's just more well developed, such as ability to aim the web at the fallen opponent, or steal/throw items with the web. I did like WoS's "buying ability" more than SD's "find ability".

I love this game. It’s very nostalgic for me because it was the first DS game I ever owned, but even playing it again years later it holds up well. I always enjoy how smooth the movement and combat feel, and this TAS puts both of those on display to the extreme. Great work!

Thank you! This wasn't actually a "real" speedrun though, it was a TAS (tool-assisted speedrun/superplay) meaning I use cheats like slowdown or frame advance to make a series of inputs to try and beat the game as fast as possible. I do have some real speedruns of this game though, my current best time for NG+ is a 28:36

There's one in residential you can get to by entering a door surrounded by ichor on the ceiling, one in the sewers where you would help night crawler for the first time, one in pier where the symbiote portal/hive thing would be after defeating venom, and one in downtown inside the wall in one of the vertical rooms. I tried my best explaining without a video but it might be good enough, goodluck on finding them!

As far as there is in the game alone, there aren't any cheat codes. But I don't think you would really need them. This game is pretty easy once you learn how to combo enemies together.

There aren't any cheats built into the game like BlackTopSamurai said. There are "action replay" cheat codes though (requires an action replay cartridge or an emulator) that can give you fun cheat codes like invincibility, all upgrades, max XP (currency in WoS ds), etc. You can find action replay codes on some websites but there aren't many currently made.

@@TMP1212 Ok so I found some action replay codes but I only have an emulator for the game on my 3ds and not an actual action replay card. What can I do with the codes now?

@@nuggut4209 I probably should have mentioned before but the emulator you use also needs to have the ability to use cheat codes (a good emulator for computer with that ability is DeSmuME). If your 3ds emulator has an option like that you should be able to just type in the code you found and it should work. I'm curious though how do you emulate the game on your 3ds? Do you just use the original ds cartridge in your 3ds?
