Really enjoyed your video. I am lovin spider riggin. We are in Texas at LOP for 3 months and catching 1.5 to 2 lb. crappie all day every day Spider Riggin. BnM Buck's poles and Millennium Racks. Can't wait to get to Truman for Spring fishing. Now that I am mastering Spider Riggin I don't have to be there at exact Spawn time.

I just got my Sportsman 1710 PFX cammo, i upgraded trolling motor to 70lbs and added a bow fish finder. Now I am looking to fabricate my own spider pole holders for trolling/cat/anchor fishing. I think that I have the bow mounted spider pole holder figured out as well. I will be using the side gunnel on the bow for quick removal and storage. Basically, there will be a receiver mounted and the extension T bar will just splip right into it. My plan on the rear is similar but a little more beefed up with only 3 rod holders on each T bar on the stern. I have the metal and skill, i will just use aluminum rivet nuts for the receiver base bolt on's. Next year I plan on getting the G3 cammo Bimini for shade/rain protection. Wish me well.

I spider rig with a 18:60 G3 and use jigs not minnows on 13’ ft b&m rods.

Enjoyed the show. Love spider riggin! Love chasing two or three poles at a time The other fun time is trying to not get hung up all the time. Love to take someone who can’t fish a lot maybe because of certain circumstances outside of their control and watch them laughter and have’n a blast. Thanks

Which model G3 is this? Truman is my home lake and looking to upgrade my first boat to something a bit more serious. Faulkenberry had suggested the sportsman. Never mind I didn’t finish watching the video. Is the 17’ wise enough to have two people up front to spider rig?
@g3sportsman
@g3sportsman 6 лет назад
Yes its plenty wide enough. In fact the G3 Sportsman 17 PFX has 3 pedestals on front deck and front live well too. Camo and painted versions. Check em out www.g3boats.com/sportsman-17-pfx-camo

Great video, I seem to drift backwards in my 18’ Nitro Bass Boat when trolling at any speed from 1-2 mph. I always have to turn the speed up to 2.5-3 mph to move forward. I have the power pole and drift pads but I haven tried them yet. I hope it helps. Where did you get your rod storage rack?

Get rid of the minnows. After decades of testing we catch as many or more on jigs with tube lures. Simplifies everything, not to mention MUCH cheaper than buying minnows. As for rod length, we also found the further you get your lures from the boat (especially in shallow water) the more bites you get. As much as we like to think so, our trolling motors are not silent, neither is the pressure wave pulses generated by the trolling motor prop. Our shortest rods are 14 footers, our longest 21 feet, in between are 18 footers we consider standard. We fish 2 people up front side by side, 5 rods each, and almost always end up at the ramp with more (and better) fish than anyone else that day. And yeah, never get in the boat without that EGO extendable net. :)

I hear ya. Not a fan of the minnows. Didn’t have longer poles. Had to use what I had and the leaving my Ego in the truck was definitely a senior moment. All in all it was a fun piece to shoot and really enjoyed the crappie supper. Thx for watching and the tips!

So put a tape measure to your b&m Buck poles I have three of them none of them measure to what they say they are by 4 to 5 in I called bucks talk to their people they do not care about customer service and come up with every excuse possible why their poles are short and they seem okay with it will never use their product again

Hi Scott, great video. I love to spider rig. I learned it from a guy named Tom Hankins from Indiana. I think you may know him, hehehe. Great guy, great fisherman.

Great video as always. Started spider rigging about 5years ago and really enjoy it. It is a way to get some good fish on certain days. I also enjoy single polling and crank baiting. I just love crappie fishing.

How do you install that driftmaster bar up front. Must it be through bolted or can you just use screws?

Davis Homestead for spider rigging your need at least 14-16' rods. I personally think 16' rods is the way to go from my experience.

Nice video, what’s your thought on pole length and position if your rods are different length?
@g3sportsman

I’d go with shortest on inside to longest on outside to give the greatest coverage
