Actually, it's not that impressive, I mean the footage is great for sure, but I don't know if it's that hard to get. These spiders are not really uncommon, I used to catch them from time to time by accident when I was a kid and were trying to catch tadpoles with a net, and that was in Sweden. Pretty sure they are spread all over Europe, it's just that you don't really look underwater in between the vegetation in "disgusting" waters where they might live. Also, just putting them in a bucket with some plants they started to make the diving bell pretty quickly. I´m sure this is shot in an aquarium, just through the glass.

hate to ruin the illusion for you guys, but the spider is CGI.

We put petrol in the water to kill them. Id rather have a few dead turtles then walk past water knowing that spiders live in it!

You should check out Jumping Spiders (Salticidae). They're the puppies of the arachnid world. Ogre-faced spiders are also kinda cute in their own weird way.

Probably. They whole pokemon thing was inspired by the study of insects. 'Catching the all' is about finding and identifying rare insects.
