Spike was always a favorite. What a great interview. He underestimates how much the fans love him. He could clean up on an autograph signing if he’s not been on that circuit.

If I recall, Spike said he was never injured in a match or from one of those wild bumps. Just amazing, especially for a guy that didn’t have a bunch of muscle or fat to pad him a bit.

On a video he did recently with Maven, it sounds like the closest he’s been to an injury was in ECW when fighting Bubba Ray he got powerbombed on the counter of a bar and he said that he felt almost paralyzed later that night but was okay the next day.

This was a very enjoyable interview with great insight on how it was to be in ECW and also how it was to be an ex-ECW guy coming to WWE. Spike Dudley's off-ring persona is pretty much the same as I pictured it back when I used to watch him taking crazy bumps; a team-oriented guy with an easygoing positive attitude.

Awesome episode with stories I hadn't already heard retreaded a million times already. Stuff like this is important to the historical record, now kayfabe is done. As important as the history in the ring is, I'd argue the history of wrestlers on the road is even more important, as there's so little of it in comparison. A story never told is a story never remembered. That Angle rib was amusing. Thank you.

Love Spike. Was truly amazed how he kept going. Some of those spots looked anything but planned. Haven't seen the full episode, yet. I listen to these shows, at work (seriously, guys, never stop, you keep me company and keep me laughing, overnight), but I assume the missed table spot gets brought up.

Spike is someone who is always spoken of highly by his peers any time he’s brought up. He was Darby Allin (minus the emo bitchness) when Darby was in diapers

@@CallingALLmarks what I'm saying is that I never once even for a second thought you was lying. What I was saying was nobody cares that an ex-wrestler lives in your town. It's like me saying Robbie Brookside was born in my city. Literally nobody cares. You call me a mark but saying Spike lives in your town is the most mark thing ever. Don't you get It? 😂

In a way, the best. Cutting edge til the end. Paul E. Never seemed to burn out creatively...guess why...cos he let the wrestlers have loads of input and would never be petty enough to cut off his nose to spite his face due to ego. It was a catch lightening situation. Right time, right place. Perfect counter-culture product for us jaded fans who wanted an adults only show that didn't insult our intelligence. Despite sounding like hyperbole, there's no doubt that ECW inspired the attitude era and basically provided the freedom for Steve Austin to begin the origins of his Stone Cold character by Paul E. Allowing him to do promos despite not being fit to wrestle (don't think he had one ECW match did he?) I love ECW, along with Jackass and King of the Hill and X-Files and all the other cool stuff from the late mid to late nineties
@fehner27
@fehner27 5 месяцев назад
@@hottakehylas Paul knew Austin wasn't staying that long. Austin had alot of connections, and just him being in ECW was awesome. He did have one of the most classic promos. People always mention his Austin 3:16 promos, but I'll take his Superstar Steve Austin promos first. It started the transformation to Stone Cold.
