Spin 159 - EEW Lazy Kate Update 

I've used those before and they work great, but they are kind of expensive which is why I didn't recommend them. But they are probably the easiest solution so maybe I'll suggest them since I know some people don't mind paying a little more to get an easy and good solution.

They kind of work, but not the best because they don't fit the cones very well. I do give away 3D printable files to hold a cone better. It would be possible to 3D print something that uses these lazy Kate bases, but I'm not sure they would be an advantage over the current 3D printed files (other than the heavier base, but I'm not sure cones benefit much from that).

I don't have an exact date yet, but maybe sometime around September.

It is many months away, and sometime before the end of this year. Beyond that I can't be very sure yet.

That's a good idea.

The EEW won't be affected by magnets like these. You'd need really much more powerful magnets than could be safely handled to cause issues with the EEW. Things that might disturb the motor for example, but I'm not even sure how the physics of that would work. In all practical terms magnets won't affect the EEW.

You could tape or glue weights to the underside of your current Lazy Kate and probably get it working better for you if you want to try that.

A clamp is something I considered, but based on feedback from the community and testing from my beta testers I decided not to do that. You could always use a clamp from the hardware store to hold them in place if that is a feature you would like.

Yes, once I have it shipping I will release the files. I will note that it doesn't 3D print that well because the rods are pretty thin and weak. Plus getting the correct magnets will be difficult. But I will release the files for those who might be able to use them.
