If you can: If you do include a bag that has capacity for a collapsed bobbin, please let it also hold @ minimum 1 bobbin uncollapsed. Its fair to assume people will take the wheel with them flat and bobbin too to someplace, but return home with fiber on the bobbin and no longer able to collapse it.

I have a 6, not looking to upgrade it as it is damn near perfect. A drum carder (small one), would be super neat! I love what you do for the spinning community! Making excellent machines at an affordable price! I used to have an Ashford espinner. But that wasn’t really portable. My 6 sits in a small knitting bag, fits everything and is so easy to travel with.

As someone who hauls their wheel everywhere, I love the fold flat and easy bobbin swap. And as someone spinning silk embroidery floss that needs a lot lot LOT of twist, the rpm display is fantastic. It will help produce more consistent yarns. I often dont realize that my twist was too low until I ply, and I think being able to monitor the RPM would make a big difference.

I have been looking at your product and like what I see . This new spinner looks like a really good idea, I think the bottom with room for a battery pack would be great. I will keep looking for when it comes out. Thanks

Someone mentioned as is model and add ons as optional. I like this idea. Don't need a bag or the folding foam thing. Those sliding hooks look cool, the hooks on my 6 work fine too. And the plastic foot pedal more intuitive looking to me (like sewing machine pedals) LOVE LOVE LOVE the rpm readout!!! and easy fold out for bobbin switching. This wheel is gonna be the best one yet!!!

I love, love, love this new design! I really like the back orifice folding down to change bobbins. I am not a fan of the current flyer supports, which is why I don’t have either the 6.1 or the nano. Really looking forward to this one!

I love the idea of this spinner. It looks great. I love the way that it will be so easy to change the bobbin by folding down the arm. This is sheer genius. I have just gotten my 6.1 and I love it. I do think I would prefer the thicker, plastic foot pedal with a click when you press it. With the 6.1 I lose track of the slim foot pedal or press it by mistake. I think this thicker plastic foot pedal looks great. Thanks so much for sharing this video with us!

Hey Maurice! Love this new ‘In-Between’ spinner idea. I already love & enjoy my Nanos & 6s. On this new spinner, I like the stiffer flyer arms, the folding with easier bobbin change & the display. I definitely want a battery base but I’m happy with the original metal foot pedal. I mostly spin on my lounge chair an use my hand to operate the foot pedal. I’ve rarely had an issue with it being over sensitive. I do like the idea of foam to protect the Flyer in transit. That being said, I often travel with the Flyer/bobbin in place, having already started a project. I usually use a padded ‘cooler’ bag to transport my EEWs so not sure the bag would be of any value to me. Haven’t yet formed an opinion on the hooks although I’d like a more consistent sliding mechanism. I have had issues with kooks on Nanos sliding too easily and with tight spots with the hooks on my 6.0. Thanks for your consideration and for all you do for us fiber workers 👍🥰🤗

I would love to see a price point lower than the EEW6 like you mentioned, with the extras like the hard foam flyer case, and the bag as add-ons. I’m a spinner on a budget and being able to purchase the machine first and then extra goodies over a period of time is more feasible for me.
@DreamingRobotsBlog
@DreamingRobotsBlog 2 месяца назад
I can understand that, but this would make the total cost significantly higher becuase I wouldn't know how many foam or bags to make. That said it is an option, but I generally like includcing everything the majority want. For example I suspect most people that are really budget contrained would just buy some other bag. Then instead of the foam I could make a 3D printable file. That said I will consider your suggestion. I just want to make sure you understand there are lots of things to consider and I will try to pick from the best from this matrix of options.

@DreamingRobotsBlog
@DreamingRobotsBlog 2 месяца назад
@@abstractfiber Yes. I sell the EEW 6 at $299 so I'm confident I can beat that price. I really don't understand why other eSpinners are so expensive. Even if I sold a lot less than I do I couldn't see my prices getting that high.
@eddavanleemputten9232

I think offering add-ons might be the best option. Offer the new model ‘as is’ with just a foam piece to safely store the flyer, or a ‘deluxe’ package with all the bells and whistles: battery storage unit, flyer case, storage bag. I wonder about bobbin size. Will it be between the Nano2 and the EEW6.1? Or will the bobbins be the same size as the 6.1? I absolutely love the idea of a magnetic battery cover! Easy mounting, easy removal, neat and tidy. 😍 Foot pedal: I remain in favour of the metal pedal. I’ve got plastic foot pedals for e-files I use to do my daughter’s and my manicures. Not a fan. They never last. Getting a piece of dental floss to remove some fluff is a small thing. I still absolutely love my Nano2 to bits. Not literally, fortunately. It gets to come out almost every day. I’ve decided to save up for the 6.1 now. Edit: A DRUM CARDER? Be still, my beating heart… you just made my day…
@DreamingRobotsBlog
@DreamingRobotsBlog 2 месяца назад
The video mentions the bobbins size (4 ounces which is between the EEW Nano and EEW 6). Add ons have lots of issues and I generally prefer giving away 3D printable files instead so others can support these needs. Dental floss often won't work for the fluff. It often includes lanolin and that requires a solvant. Didn't go into this detail in the video though. I mentioned a drum carder update at the end of the video. Thanks for the feedback.

Hi Maurice, this new eSpinner looks very slick, I love that it folds flat for storage and that you can see how fast its RPM is. I have both the Nano 1.1 and the eWheel 6 and I love them both. Xx

Maurice, I took my eew6 to SOAR in 2023 and it was great! But I do think this “Fold” would be even better for going to events where you are learning new techniques. I too a 2-day class in “fractal spinning” and it was in lot of small batches and lots of changing bobbins. This new espinner would have been just the perfect thing for classes like that…smaller bobbins, ease of changing out bobbin. Good luck on developing this new spinner. Looks like I may have to set aside some spending money for a purchase!

I like it. I have an EEW 6.0 and the base is a bit wobbly. So I like the magnetic base you have developed and would opt for the flat base in favour of saving space. I love the click free and sensitive simple 2 foot pedal. If you spin in company the clicking would soon become really annoying. Having to push through to the click also seems a bit less reactive than the metal contact action of the 2. I‘m not fussed about a solution to strap the flyer to the base. I would probably source my own bag or choice of them depending on how much in terms of accessories I would want to pack, so the flyer and base wouldn’t have to be a unit. I like the display for more consistency and I like the ease of changing the bobbin. As much as I like the large bobbins of the 6, I think I wouldn’t mind missing them in favour of this spinner.

I love the folding idea! I have a 6 that i spin both art yarn and silk. That would make the rpm display really handy. As I often switch between, and this would make it easy to replicate what I was working on. Could the flyer store in the battery case? As long as the hooks don't catch art yarn, I'm good with whatever material they are made of. I prefer a hard case to a bag, for protection. I use a vintage train case for my 6. A fold would give more room in my case for full bobbins, an issue that I see with you having when deciding on a bag size. Thanks for all you do! Both on equipment and keeping costs down.
@jenthulhu
@jenthulhu 2 месяца назад
Hi Maurice! I like the idea of the display because as the bobbin fills and drag builds up, you should be able to maintain your sweet spot at your preferred RPM by simply adjusting the speed knob until you get back to your preferred RPM. It's not always easy to intuit that and I think it will help folks make a more consistent yarn. I'm all for it! Higher speed is also great--I'd only use it for plying, but during plying it would be very welcome.
@DreamingRobotsBlog

I agree. People will still need to adjust tension as the bobbin fills, but this will help make one of the variable known.

I probably wouldn't need a total folding wheel. I have a nice, smallish bag that holds a couple bobbins, the 6.0 and some fiber. But I like the ease of taking the bobbin off. And love the magnetic battery box. It's a nice wheel!

I would love a flat bottomed bag just tall enough to fit the assembled wheel and a battery inside. Maybe you could provide an stl file so that people could print a box to fit inside the base of the bag to reinforce the sides and give structure to the bag?

The bottom would already have something hard (battery or bobbom cover) and I'm not sure hard sides would be needed, but making a 3d printed box (or sides out of anything else really) would be easy.

Metal hooks, please! Plastic doesn’t like friction. As far as the power supply is concerned, it would be so amazing if you could offer an option for one or the other at purchase, so us cobweb spinners can choose 15. How do I become a beta tester?? 😂
@DreamingRobotsBlog
@DreamingRobotsBlog Месяц назад
Thanks for the feedback. I'm leaning towards metal hooks based on feedback, but I do need to complete more testing. I am not going to offer an option on voltages. It would be better for me to just always include the 15V since having 2 voltage options will lead to confusion and inventory hassles. Part of the way I keep my prices affordable is by keeping these kinds of options low. I'll pick between 12 and 15V based on my testing and what I think is best, but if I do select 12V and I don't find any huge issues with 15V then I'll probably give links to some options that will work. It seems like there are several 15V power supplies on Amazon that would work fine. I select beta testers based on interations. I did select volutneers awhile ago based on a few messages they sent me and that went pretty bad. I am not looking for new volunteers at this time, but if I do it will probably be from a group of people that have been very active in the community for a long time as those people tend to be the best beta testers in my experience.

Hi Maurice, just a question - will you still be able to fold the arms under with a battery in the deeper bottom casement? I just know that in Australia the battery I was able to buy for the 6, was larger than the ones available in the US so it has to sit in on an angle. Thanks!

I have eg my Nano in an old camera bag, works fine. Please add the metal footswitch. I actually tap it with my fingers, using my EEW 6.0 on the sofa on a laptop pillow. Will this one also be delivered to Germany? Will Kickstarter also be available in Germany? I have a spinning friend who has been looking for that size as well.
