That is soooo cool! A couple of weeks ago, I had to make a 5 metre for my antique spinning wheel and I made it with a large spindle. It was such a pain... Next time, I will make sure to print the cord maker and use it to make a better cord.

Very nice design, Maurice - so elegant! - thank you for sharing this with us. My husband has a friend at work with a 3D printer who's happy to print parts for us, and I probably have all the hardware already. Can't wait to make one for myself! 😊

The hook shafts could be printed longer with a cross hole to receive a paperclip or bent wire hook that would never strip or unscrew. Instead of printing the hole that a drill would create, it could be printed with a circular interior that would better fit a bent wire.

Wouldn't it also pigtail if too much ply twist is added?

Nice design. My wife is keeping me busy printing several of your designs. Did you print all the components in PLA? Did you use supports in any of the components?
@DreamingRobotsBlog

I did print everything from PLA, but as I mentioned in the video if running at higher speeds you'll want to add a little lubricant or the pla might melt. No supports needed.

@@DreamingRobotsBlog I just read the transcript and saw where you mentioned no support needed. Sorry for that miss. Instead of using lubricant I assume I could also use PETG? Thanks again for the reply and the great design.

@@tjoneyoutub99 I am not sure about PETG. It would probably work, but I always just print in PLA so I can't say for certain.

@@tjoneyoutub99for those of us with spinning wheels, tri-flow I think is plastic-safe, and I know superlube (any viscosity) is usually safe. Many modern gun lubes are plastic safe, it should say on the manufacturer website.

Would this work for just a 2 ply as well?
@DreamingRobotsBlog
@DreamingRobotsBlog 3 месяца назад
Yes, but realize it's not as flexible as a spinning wheel since it's doing two things in one pass.

@@DreamingRobotsBlog thank you. It would be for making cord out of plastic bags. Do you think it would still work?
@DreamingRobotsBlog
@DreamingRobotsBlog 3 месяца назад
@@thisisme4050 Try it by spinning two cords individually. Then twist them the other way. Try doing it with a drill. If you are happy with those results then this can accomplish that faster by doing it in a single pass.
