Spinach Time-Lapse - 40 days | Soil cross section

Spinach time lapse with soil cross section. Revealing both - how spinach leaves and roots grow.
Root development is best visible at germination and 30 days in.
Those brighter dots in the soil, moving like there is no tomorrow, are saprotrophs - bugs and worms that feed on nonliving organic matter.
Play speed - 28800x (one shot every 12 minutes played at 40 FPS).
Nutrient deficiency wasn’t planed. Test set up grew fine, but with different soil, so at first I wasn’t sure if its nutrient deficiency or something else.
And in case you are wondering, I did tried some leaves. After finishing with photographing they tasted a bit like grass, slightly bitter. Week after that their taste had slight resemblance to sorrel. But no where near as sour. Guess that was leaves with different age.

Odds are the bigger plants who got an earlier advantage choked it out. When plants are competitive with each other, only the stronger survives, however the strong ones who do survive get pretty large. I often separate my plants and herbs when they sprout so none get choked out, but I'll typically put two or three in one pot for competition.

I am amazed by God's creation. Not sure why some only think there is just science. Neither can babies or living things just be created- there is force behind it all. There is a God. This is beautiful. These plants become food, they become those gorgeous flowers we plant that are proportionate in all ways. Thank You alot!

@Will Penman It's widely accepted by Group X that Y can be explained only by Z. You pick a group of "enlightened ones" ("scientists") and then declare them god, but you have no authority and labcoats have as little authority over the laws of nature as you. Science explains nothing. Science observes nature. It doesn't explain why nature is the way it is. You will stand before God one day and all you have to account for your rebellion is a "scientific consensus" that the entirety of nature came from nothing? Macro evolution is a silly story, completely self-contradictory if taken to its logical conclusion. The societal consensus about supposed evolution is based on years of indoctrination and the ridiculous evidence is unchallenged in the public eye, because the people who could question it don't get any research funds. God does not justify himself before his creation when without a creator there would be no creation. THAT is a scientific fact without a single example to the contrary. Your whole stance is self-defeating. All glory be to the most High, Jesus Christ. You would do well to trust less the obscure billionaire Luciferians funding much of modern """"""science"""""" who certainly do believe in a god (the devil) and more to trust the one who maintains the universe and gives you life, the Lord of Lords and King of Kings, Jesus.
@siegfriedk.6276
@siegfriedk.6276 4 года назад
@Will Penman I told you what science does. It observes nature doesn't explain it. Prove logic to me, prove to me that you have value. Prove to me that homosexuality is fine. Or should I have faith in all that? Your worldview is incomplete and easily deconstructed. God loves us, but he considers what we do an abomination. One of the lessons I currently learn is to love people more than what they do. It is BECAUSE God loves people that he wants them to stop sinning. What ever do you have against people who do not want to get vaccines? You condemn other people for supposedly hating homosexuals, but you yourself judge by an even more arbitrary and superficial standard? God have mercy on your soul.

Hi, I am also Keen on planting spinash seeds . I like spinash dish with cheese. I remember picking up some leaves then I washed them and put them in water and put them on fire . Last year , I collected some spinash seeds , their colours were brown . I planted them in a pot then I watered them until they grew and in summer they died , but next year they grew again but unfortunately I didn't take care of them. Thanks a lot for your nice video. Best wishes 🍀.

@drujjawalrathore
@drujjawalrathore 6 лет назад
『Roger James』 learn basic biology and the pain threshold of animals. Plants simply feel the changes happening. They don't have a well organised nervous system to feel "Pain".
@jeffbro1021
@jeffbro1021 6 лет назад
『Roger James』 you’d be a special kind of idiot to believe plants feel suffering and pain haha. And to the people saying vegans eat plants therefore they are causing harm you do realize that the animals themselves eat plants to so therefore by eating animal your doing double damage
@vivekd296
@vivekd296 6 лет назад
lol, I felt the same and am vegan, but think of it this way, plants are the main source of food for animals and its impossible to avoid plants in the food chain at least for humans, non-vegetarians eat plants as well, you cant make any non-veg dish without spices which are obtained from plants. And animals are locomotive and possess sense organs like us and can feel pain. As humans we are omnivores and we have the choice to feel empathy and choose the less cruel energy or food source. In the end, all living things need organic matter to obtain energy from and we humans have the choice to either go barbaric or benevolent.
@shirinf333
@shirinf333 6 лет назад
So we should eat nothing then? Even if you truly believe that plants feel pain like animals do, then why do you eat both? What kind of an argument is that against veganism? Yes plants are beautiful and amazing, but you can't really still be trying to troll vegans with that baseless argument. So just because you think plants feel pain means that animals should be slaughtered? You never eat any fruits or vegetables? How about you go vegan for the pain of the animals and then you can just drink water and breath air for the pain of the plants. Sounds like a good solution. If you're not willing to do that then you're just a big hypocrite.

very interesting video! I love the part where the cotyledons are "reabsorbed" to get nutrients for growth. I wonder if the same would happen in a smoil that is not nutrient-limited. it would also be nice to see a comparison with plants growing in a competition-free environment (not two seeds planted together)
