Thank you so much for making this video. It's the only one I've found of its kind. As an indeterminate Crohn's-Colitis patient who had their colon stolen, it's really helped me make my decision in hopefully replacing my completely debilitating failed J-Pouch to a K-Pouch or BCIR, as opposed to going back to the the dehumanizing ostomy bag. I of course knew how it worked on paper, but after getting tricked into getting an ileostomy, it is so helpful to actually visualize and better understand what daily life with a BCIR / K-Pouch is really like, as I'm now faced with another with another major life decision. Again, thank you.
I’m sorry you are having to make this big decision. Here’s some additional info from my experience. I also recommend that you join the Facebook group for BCIR and other continent ostomies. Good luck! jennysmithrollson.com/the-pros-and-cons-of-a-continent-ostomy-with-sci/
Hi Jenny I really want to say I appreciate you being so amazing to post this candid video. It is helping me understand how to fight for help and what can be assistive after spinal cord injury. I have multiple spinal areas of severe injury and my bowel program is very challenging. I appreciate this info very much pls keep posting vids!
Impressed with the practical ways that you've adapted your bathroom for your BCIR process. I'm even more impressed with your calm, clear explanation of the process. Thanks!!
You have an amazing positive attitude Jenny! I'm 20 years post injury and thought that was a long time. I had no idea that there were so many others that have been this way for quite a bit longer. It gives me more strength to see others like you with amazing fortitude. Take care Jenny, God bless!!! ❤🙏❤
Hat off to u.... amazing human being who dare to live lovely life and advicing people hw to live comfort life in this situation.... i m paraplegic and just started to advise people hw to come out...i m not good at camera nor my voice is as good as u.... but i also try to give society what i feel ... 👌👍
Hi. You just popped up in my feed. I've been a para going on almost 22 yrs from a car accident when i was 18 back in 97. Glad your doing well. Keep rocking in this life. ✌🏼
Hi Jenny, Bard makes a FlipFlo valve that might help you, I love mine. It helps to control my flow so I choose when to empty. I'm not sure what size cath you're using, yours looks larger than my urinary cath. But it's worth a shot. You can also extend your tubing into the toilet by using connectors and extension tubes. All of them are available from your medical supplier. I use medicalsupplydepot.com and most extension tubes come with a built in connector that will attach directly to your catheter. Hope this helps sweetie.
Hi Jenny, thank you so much for the video. My father had an accident over 11 years ago and he has been on bed since then, he was 65 yrs when accident happened and not sure if this BCIR is recommended taking his age into account. :(
I had multiple fístulas. After trying to repair the fístulas, the surgeon had to create a second pouch which used additional bowel tissue. This affects absorption of vitamins and nutrients.
Wow! Im impresive, a bowel program in 11 minutes! How ofthen you have to do it? What is the name of the procedure? Have you having leeks? I was looking for information for a posible ostomy for my husband and I found you! The way that you do it is awesome. I think is the most easiest way for somebody with Spinal Cord Injury. I wonder if a paraploegic T4 complete can have one. Im sorry but i have a lot of questions for you. lol and by the way, you are awesome!!!!
I empty the pouch 3 times a days. For the pros and cons of this procedure, read the article below. It’s a big decision. jennysmithrollson.com/the-pros-and-cons-of-a-continent-ostomy-with-sci/
