Thank you for this . I’ve a hemangioma on my T10 vertebrae found 2016 after years of pain still get pain (I’ve Bertolotti’s syndrome they put the pain nerve pains to that ) concerns me as I’ve 2 hemangioma’s on my liver they don’t grow and cause pain apparently, til last year another scan oh they have grown 🤦♀️.
This is my MRI report. I’m having terrible pain with burning, numbness & tingling. I go back to my neurosurgeon in 2 weeks at MUSC. I can only stand for about 5 minutes & I have to lean forward till I can sit down to ease the pain. There is normal alignment. Vertebral body heights are maintained. There are multilevel osseous hemangiomas measuring up to 8 mm at the L5 level. Otherwise marrow signal intensity is within normal limits. The visualized spinal cord is normal in signal intensity. The conus medullaris terminates at L1 level. The nerve roots of the cauda equina appear normal. The paraspinal soft tissues are normal. Evaluation of the individual levels demonstrates: L1-L2: No significant spinal canal or significant neural foraminal stenosis. L2-L3: No significant spinal canal or significant neural foraminal stenosis. L3-L4: No significant spinal canal or significant neural foraminal stenosis. Mild bilateral (left greater than right) facet arthropathy. L4-L5: No significant spinal canal or significant neural foraminal stenosis. Moderate right and mild left facet arthropathy. L5-S1: Small central zone protrusion without significant spinal canal or significant neural foraminal stenosis. Prominent right facet effusions with marrow and perifacet edema.
Is it reasonable for a spine surgeon to dismiss a T7 hemangioma on a 47yo woman's MRI as an incidental finding that has been there since infancy? I am having leg weakness, bladder problems and problems walking (getting progressively worse) and lower legs are hyperreflexive. I have never seen hemangioma mentioned on any CT scans I've had in the last 7 years. Is it reasonable to think a radiologist might think it wasn't worth mentioning hemangioma in a report?
I have one of these at T12. I've had ACDF, cervical facetectomy, laminectomy, spinal cord stimulator implanted, and having another ACDF at another level in 4 days. I'm having terrible mid back pain and wonder if it's from this hemangioma diagnosed 4 years ago. At the time I was told to not worry about it, and kind of forgot about it.
I have a large hemangioma on the T11 and several small on the L4 and L5 and on the bone At the base of the spine this was found after years of back pain and I was told that mine where not causing my pain but other that my back is in perfect shape and I'm 43 yrs old what do you think
I had a patient who went to the Dr with a lump she could feel on her thoracic spine..it hurt if she sat at her desk and all night , the patient was 58 yrs old she told me she came home and it took 2 or 3 hours for the pain to leave..she also had hip pain and at the end of the day couldn't pick her leg up to get in the car..she told me the heating pad was her best friend..but she couldn't walk for 2 hours after getting home...hx of Psoratic arthritis, stroke cerebellar, blood clotting disorder , and small hole in her heart , calcifed menigoma in right frontal lobe. She works in a office andoes well..she had a ct scan and it showed hematoma..i think she will have surgery in a few months..the lump on her thoracic spine was slowly getting bigger and bigger...i could feel the lump myself...it was painful on application...poor lady...
I am 36 years old with severe back pain goes down my left leg stops behind my knee. I was taken to the ER because my pain was too severe they did MRI and found L3 vertebral body hemangioma. I also have disc bulging T-12-L1/ L1-L2/ L2-L3/ L3-S1 Also have annual tear on T-12-L1 along with wedging. I am lost on what to do pain is intense and waiting on doctor to do a referral is taking such a long time. Please any advice.
Dr have you done SRS surgery on a hemangioma yet? If so what Has been the prognosis? On a benign hemagioma that is 36.5 mm and no one can do surgery the choice is only the cement, ethanol, or radiation therapy...... Causing extreme biological sciatica no one will remove it I guess this person will have to have the radiation therapy?
doctor i have a L4 L5 S1 i just got my new i had 3 MRI but this one says L5 S1 broad posterior disc hernation which is slightly more prominent than on the prior study deforms the ventral epidural space and there is left greater than the right foraminal extension with abutment of exiting left L5 root and narrowing of the foramina diminished disc space height ventral extension of the disc remains and discogenic changes and scmorl;s node in the end platates.mild facet hypertrophic changes remain L4L5 S1 ,,,,,doc my friend told me narrowing part of stenosis ,doctor

wish you were here in Ky. I have an hemangioma in the T9. It has filled the area. Does this cause cancer? Can an hemangioma cause my wbc's to increase?
Hi, question. So I just found out I have a Large lipid rich hemangioma at C7. Along with buldge discs C5 & C6. I deal with major pain in my lower & upper back and my left shoulder. I can’t stand for longer than 30 minutes or sit for a long time either. Nothing helps with the pain and it’s bad during mornings & nights. How bad is this thing & is it a tumor? What treatments are there? The reason why I ask is because there’s not much information around it. Thank you
Hi Doctor, i have a question. What if white spot is vissible on T1 and T2 modes but is not vissible on fat supression images at all? Is it still hemangioma or can it be just a big fat spot?
@@spineconference Thanks for sharing the information. I have read that but am still confused and i also don`t have the axial images. Here is the link on the main images from the same location. i.postimg.cc/CFrXDmZW/hemangioma1.png I do not see any white spots on fat suppression image on TH1 and TH2 vertebrae. Is it really a hemangioma? I don`t expect a 100% answer as it is just for my curiosity. Thanks in advance.
@@spineconference Would a small Osseous Hemangioma in the T12 have any effect on the spinal canal? And, what is meant by Osseous if you stated that there are 2 types of hemangioma? Does it fall under one of those classifiers and should it be removed from the spine??? Thank you in advance for an answer.😊
Hi Dr. Antoniades, I have a puzzling case and wondering if you can give your input. grade 1 degenerative retrolithesis at multiple levels. L5-S1 is the most problematic level.
I have one on T6 more to the right but I hurt a lot right at T6 on the left only in that spot and it’s very annoying pain. I just had an MRI done two months ago. With atypical hemonagiona it looks the size of a quarter.
I guess youtube limits the comment section. Husband had osseous lesions worrisome for metastatic disease. Oncology discharged him. CT showed no focal lesion. Pet scan showed multiple avid lesions. what could these be?
YOU ARE A GOD SEND Dr ANTONIADES YOU ARE A CREDIT TOO WHAT YOU DO BEING A SPECIALIST { IT HAS ONLY BEEN YOUR VIDEOS THAT HAVE MADE ME ""OVER COME MY FEAR"" OF THE OPERATIONS I FACE SOON ON BOTH NECK C 3 to C 7 and L 4/5 S1 TAKE CARE
I have an Atypical L5 Hemangioma that is huge and possibly taken place of the bone and growing into the nerve. The surgeon wants to do a 5 hour open surgery. He cannot remove the whole tumor, but remove it from the nerve. Up until 2018, I was a runner and doing yoga, now I am too scared to do anything, but even more scared to have an open surgery. I am in pain, but way too scared to have a surgery. If anyone on this post has advice. I am open to it.
Thank you so so much doctor for this video because I have a 8. 7 center meter liver hemangioma and Iam having loss of weight and low spine pain and Iam to see the spine doctor in one week I feel so stiff and Iam in such pain I was a professional singer and drummer and pianist and now I can’t do much of anything right now I pray this doctor can figure this issue out for me sincerely, Carolann
Great video! Can a hemangioma cause back spasms with certain movements? Could they put pressure on nerves that would cause severe back muscle spasms? Thank you
I have this have been in severe pain for over a year now, t has taken up 3/4 of the vertebra. I live in Kansas City. MO and can't find a Doctor to take it seriously. They just say see nothing should not hurt. Do therapy making worse. Can you recommend a Doctor?? I can send you a picture of mine if needed. Please Thank You.
I'm the patient who scattered intraosseous hemangioma in the thoracic , and im in extremely bad back pain. I also had two strokes years ago. My appt is also scheduled for the orthopedic, I wonder what he is gonna to suggest. Thank you for the video, I have a better understanding now.
Hi don't know if you will see this but I am desperate for any nformation . I was diagnosed with an atypical hemangioma in 2016 at my lumber spine within the bone and has not changed my specialist told me that they can not remove it because of the position they would not get it all. They also said they can't give me a biopsy either ! But they are pretty sure it's safe. I have been having regular MRIs to check for changes and now they are not checking it till 2020 !! And they said if it's the same then no more MRIs ! Which I'm not happy about ! It's very painful all the time and I'm on very strong pain relief . I wonder if there is any advice you could tell me as I am in the UK and it's so hard to get any info about our conditions best wishes Elaine xx
@@ok4u2nv They usually don't grow, but a small subset can grow. I think the difference between upright and horizontal is minor. You need to seek a spinal expert in your area.
I have multiple hemangiomas (T12, L1 through L4.) Do these show up on CT scans as possible sclerotic lesions? I take it they are not cancerous? Thank you for your help.
