I think the thing that hits me even harder is that you can genuinely see the guilt Rebecca has about this toy. Like during the interview, she has small moments where it legitimately seems like she's about to start crying all over again about it, and it's such a sad but sweet thing that she uses that memory to dedicate it to something as beautiful as everything stays.

I'd say that Drift Away is my favourite song in the movie because when I first saw Spinels back story, honestly, it kinda made me cry a little and I really sympathized with her and that made me realize: She is my favourite villain of all time and I really love how she got redeemed at the end. Her motives are so understandable and just everything about her made me fall in love with this character immediately

Drift away was probably one of my favorite songs. Always worrying and wondering if this was how it worked, or if I was doing it right were questions I became far to familiar with in my childhood. Always smiling and acting goofy to keep people from seeing I was in a dark place. All because I'd unfortunately been exposed go abandonment and neglect since infancy.

I like who Spinel is now a lot better. I’m sorry she had to go through what she did, but she’s grown so much because of it, and I don’t think everything she’s gained should be traded for anything. Just because everything that happened wasn’t okay doesn’t mean it didn’t turn out okay, or even better than it ever could’ve if nothing had changed.

The diamonds were supposed to be invincible so yes they mourned her but for their empire it wouldnt make sense to say one of the leaders just got killed and by a quartz soldier who's supposed to be the lowest grunt in terms of an army let's say you have four generals and one gets killed that's a blow to moral but on the other side it was a old channel so if it was used as a boost to kill the Krystal gems it would be on a newer more up to date channel

Drift away means so much to me. I hear it and I can't help but feel connected to it. I've been bullied throughout my life, and when depression set in when I was 13, I lost this part of myself that I still miss. Before it didn't matter that people didn't like me, I was still friendly and smiled all the time. I was alone but never lonely. Now I'm someone who can have periods when I never smile. I'm not friendly anymore, I've become quite tired of dealing with other people. It's hard to go into detail but when I hear the song drift away I think about my life. Thanks, Rebecca sugar for giving me a song that relates so much to me.

I had the same realization with a pink plastic bucket when i was little. I loved that thing because i could make sandcastles with it, but i left it half buried in rhe sandbox (foundation where the barn used to be) over winter and i found it next spring. I remember being shocked that it changed without me. It made me realize that i could do the same to others too. Everything changes around everyone else and nobody is there to see it. Ever since then ive been obsessed with the idea of a life changing pilgrimage, and returning to an equally changed home.

There's these comics called Lumberjanes, and every time they're gonna go "Oh my gosh!" or "Holy cow!" or "What the heck?!" instead of saying gosh, cow, or heck, they say the name of a cool woman. Don't forget the flower on Pink's side in the garden/game scene. Those flowers (the name of which eludes me at the moment) represent final goodbyes. So on Pink's side of things, she was saying goodbye forever, but on Spinel's side, she truly loved Pink and didn't want to be forgotten...

Wouldn't Spinel have gotten the message of Pink Diamond being shattered? Most likely the diamonds would have definitely put out a mass message to their colonies informing them of the loss of one of the leaders.

See with the "underside is lighter when you turn it around" I took that in a more metaphorical sense than literal. When they reset her she was perfectly sweet and happy again and even when they helped her out and offered to be her friends and fix things she had a "light side" all they had to do was turn her negative emotions around like with any of the villains

While we're thinking about the garden, there's a real flower talk deep cut hiding in plain sight. Those flowers in the foreground with the spiky curved stamens are probably red spider lilies, a variety native to Asia. Not only are they associated with final goodbyes, but legend says they bloom only where people part ways forever. As if that wasn't enough symbolism, the Culture Trip website adds: "In old Buddhist writings, the red spider lily is said to guide the dead through samsara, the cycle of rebirth." Holy schlamoley, as the poets say.

oh, and i just wanted to mention something. the shot where spinel is following behind pink in the garden, they walk past the fallen hibiscus flower. like you said, it symbolizes pink. but its been cut from the stem... dying. similar how to pink was soon to be "shattered." the flower is alive for now, but soon itll die.

When I first heard "Drift Away" my thoughts immediately went to "When She Loved Me" from Toy Story 2. "And so the years went by I stayed the same, But she began to drift away. Still I waited for the day When she'd say ' I will always love you!'" Also...Sort of related...Blue refers to Spinel as "One of Pink's lost treasures!" Did Blue not know about the garden? If she did, you'd think she'd want to preserve it/keep it up like she did with The Human Zoo. After all, "They were HERS!".

Cassandra Wladyslava her and yellow both knew about the garden cause you see them on call with Pink. However, Pink stopped going to the garden after she gained her colony, showing she didn’t care much about it. Along with that, the human zoo was created as a way to try and persuade her to continue to work on her colony. Pink didn’t want the zoo, but Blue used it as a way to think she was keeping Pink close to her. Well, at least that’s how it comes across to me I guess

The point I'm trying to make is that sometime, in all those thousands of years, Blue should have visited the place and found Spinel. She refers to her as "One of Pink's lost treasures!". Also, it's obvious the other Diamonds didn't exactly "get" Pink and what she really wanted/needed. True, The Garden didn't matter to Pink anymore, but you'd think it would still have had sentimental value to Blue(who seems to have trouble letting go of things that remind her of Pink/belonged to Pink.) or at LEAST be worth a "Imma check Pink's old Garden out!"

Cassandra Wladyslava yeah I understand your point, tbh it makes me wonder why she didn’t but at the same time I see it the things she kept like the Rose Quartz’ and the human zoo as things Pink would’ve wanted to keep. Pink’s garden was more like a playground they created to keep her occupied while they were working when she wasn’t misbehaving. Dont get me wrong, I get what you mean tho. I’m just curious as to wonder, would Blue have taken care of spinel if she found her earlier? Cause usually gems that don’t uphold their purpose are destroyed. And Spinel’s whole purpose was to entertain and keep Pink happy. Future blue is only this open to being affectionate because Steven has taught them how. I feel like they waited to show Spinel now cause she would’ve probably been shattered otherwise, particularly from Blue who seems to shatter the most. Idk, just a theory maybe

another flower worth noting are the red spider lily's that are in the bottom left when it shows both spinel and pink diamond. They represent loss, abandonment, lost memories, and it was a popular belief that they would sprout if you were to meet someone you would never see again.
