Spinning Khaitu - Traditional Andean Weaving Yarn 

I have been learning Andean backstrap weaving through ‪@abbysyarns‬'s Franquemont University since February of this year. It has been such an amazing learning adventure and has profoundly affected a variety of aspects of my fiber arts creativity even parts not even related to Andean weaving.
The project depicted here is spinning I've done with natural color CVM wool that I've spun on traditional Andean spindles. I've tried my best to follow the traditional methods as closely as possible.
It inspires me greatly that all of the beautiful textiles of the Andes are all spindle spun/plied and woven on backstrap looms. The textiles are absolutely incredible in quality, technique, color, and patterns.
