In Episode 24 Bugsy takes us down to a ledge fishing in Sydney NSW Australia for some land based lure fishing targeting bonito at sunrise. Bugsy uses a range of lures including poppers, bibbed minnows, and soft plastics. Techniques used include spinning lures and popping. Sydney has a number of premier rock fishing locations. Fishing off the rocks is a dangerous activity and safety should always come first. If you are going rock fishing check the swell conditions, wear a lifejacket, wear rock cleats or spikes, wear light clothing that you could confidently swim in, and fish with a friend to keep an eye out for each other. Remember to do your part to look after our fish stocks too. If you are going to keep fish, look after them and only take what you will eat. Take your rubbish home with you or throw it in the bin. Respect and preserve our natural wonders. Thank you

Again I must commend you for looking after the fish so well in an ice slurry. If we as humans are going to take fish to eat we need to treat them with as much respect and care as possible.

Cheers Abdul. It's in Sydney on the ocean ledges. I don't get more specific than that to respect the regular crew who fish it. All those ocean ledges fish pretty similarly

my first striped bonito was about 60cm i didnt realise that wouldve been classified as a big bonito
@bugsyfishing
@bugsyfishing Год назад
60cm is a solid bonito for sure. Apparently they can reach up to 100cm in length

Hi Brandon, from a diving perspective pretty much every headland in Sydney holds fish. Each have their own unique features. Lots of coastline to explore. If you are interested in pelagics, look for the edge of drop offs to 20m+. I don't name spots to respect the crew who fish them regularly. Cheers

Loving the channel mate. How do you like the 83-150? Can’t decide on that or the 84-100….
@bugsyfishing
@bugsyfishing Год назад
Cheers mate. It's a great rod and I've been surprised at how well it casts, even with a 60g Hydra (fairly light for that rod). I bought the 83-150 because I could only afford one and wanted to be able to use it at home targeting big kingfish (yes, rare) and also be able to use it for dogtooth tuna and GTs when I travel (rare too). The 84-100 paired with a 14000 size reel is probably a lot more sensible for Sydney. In saying that, my next Zenaq purchase will be the Defi Muthos Accura 100HH paired with a 14000 size reel for spinning and shore jigging. 100% I will use it a lot more than the 83-150, the extra length and ability to use it for jigging are appealing
@xXDEFYETXx
@xXDEFYETXx Год назад
@@bugsyfishing Thanks mate!! I'm Melbourne based and think the 84-100 is more suited to the type of fishing I'll do down here both from shore and boat based. I have a 9'3 PE8 shore casting rod and a Muthos Sonio 93m. Looking to bridge the gap.

My biggest question is how do you pull out your lure from the water when you don't catch anything? For me either I get it stuck on the ledge or I skyrocket it in the air just trying not to do option 1.
@bugsyfishing
@bugsyfishing Год назад
Hi Davide, good question! I had a friend hook himself in the leg attempting this recently. I usually wait for a wave and bring it up onto the ledge with the surge of the wave with the lure on the top of the water so it doesn't snag. Then lift it straight up carefully when the lure is directly (or close enough) under the rod tip. That way you get less of the pendulum effect. Hope that makes sense. Cheers
@Davide608
@Davide608 Год назад
@@bugsyfishing 🤔 gonna learn to time with the waves then. For this reason I practically stopped using metals from the ledges, when I don't lose them they get beaten so bad! Thank you btw 🙏☺️
@bugsyfishing
@bugsyfishing Год назад
@@Davide608 it's not perfect. It still happens to me every now and again where I scratch a lure. Depends on the ledge too. A longer rod helps
