Hi Colin! This is SO COOL! Thank you so much for the nicest shoutout ever! It is mind-blowing seeing the invaders on your board. I'm so touched that something I made is being used to share Spirit Island with others. I've been fortunate enough to rope in about a half-dozen of my friends into SI over the years, so I can imagine making a video like this is not easy and quite time consuming. Thank you for sharing!
Yes!! I totally get that but if you play with 5 pple that really know the game the combos can get insane!! It also takes a lot longer! Great to see you Franck!!
Really excited to see you play more of this! This is one of my favorite games, but I barely play it because it's so daunting! I haven't played it enough for it to "click" yet, but I almost see it as a personal challenge to get good at this game!
You can do it!! I recommend playing with no events and easy spirits just like I did here! Do you have these two spirits they play really well together!!
@@MeetMeAtTheTable I think I have everything, maybe missing some promo spirits, but yeah, I doi have Horizons. I'm trying to figure out how to teach this to my wife. It's such a great theme, and if you get into it, it really does feel like you're a powerful spirit messing with these settlers!
One of my favorite games, but I haven't got it to the table in almost two years! I need to downsize my collection and just stick to playing my favorites, lol.
22:34 need to target a land with invaders but it's a wash because you moved the dahan back later on. I have had so many of my great plans ruined by realizing too late that I can't target the land I wanted.
Fyi, I think victory and defeat are checked at the end of every action, meaning in your case you won as soon as that sand coastal land was cleared. it makes a difference with more complex effects, not in this game ofc
Thanks Colin and well played. Great stuff! Love Spirit Island but still not got past the basic gameplay. I need you to play with more complexity and kick me up the bum to get playing it again! lol I would have kept the card that transforms invaders into Dahan, but I don't play as well as you and will lose Dahan, and there can be few ways to get them back, which in turn makes the game a bit harder! lol Looking forward to the next encounter on Spirit Island!
Thanks so much Paul for watching! I knew with that Eyes spirit my defending ability would save most of the Dahan so that was why I wasn't concerned about converting them. .even though I should have haha!! The complexity is insane in this one for sure!
@@MeetMeAtTheTable Yeah you had the situation well under control, Colin, so it was the right decision. I tell myself it's all about getting the Dahan and powers in the right place at the right time, but never manage to do it! lol BTW The Eyes spirit made me think of the tree spirits in Princess Mononoke. lol
@@MeetMeAtTheTable If you mean the Beast using ones, you have small cards that go into the invader deck and rules in the Jagged earth expansion to move/fear/do damage with beasts. The disease just don't kill your Dahan for no reason anymore :) And, after just watching the entire video you did 1 minor thing wrong which nobody addressed (I think): In round 5 you earned a second Fear card. When resolving you should have flipped both of them so you could resolve them from oldest to newest (you resolved the top one first)
46:00 correct me if im wrong: the range on the card is not just 1 from any jungle space, but a jungle with your presence. And as far as i can see on my tiny mobile phone screen you had no presence in that jungle space at the time of executing that play.
Good question I actually don't know! I think it is more with no blighted/healthy island card. That is used in the main spirit island game. I think it may be 4 or 5 per player
@@MeetMeAtTheTable If you play without a healthy island card (Horizons or base game), it's 5 blight per player PLUS ONE. This plus one blight is the only major errata of the game. If you're playing with the healthy island card, it's two blight per player PLUS ONE, then when the blight card flips you do what the blight card says. :)
