Spirit Tracks Link and Zelda being the best couple in the Zelda series for over 10 minutes

This couple is just pure fluff and I love it.
So I know this video is VERY different than my usual content but I've seen zero compilation videos of Link and Zelda in Spirit Tracks so this was a "fine I'll do it myself" video from the start.
Also this video took longer than expected to make, but I like how it turned out. I was originally gonna release it on the day TOTK came out but it was during finals week so that didn't happen. Oh well.

Spirit Tracks really dropped one of the most overt ZeLink romances, a Zelda that's active in the plot from start to finish, some of the best dungeons and bosses in the series, arguably best overworld theme in the series, and one of the coolest transportation mechanics in the series history and people barely talk about it.

I have probably delved too deep into why within myself, but for so many reasons outside of entertaining the idea that he may be a lil’ fruity (that may also just be me making fun of him), he is a neat character. His psychology is cool and relatable. I think we need more of Spirit Tracks in the Zeldaverse. The whole game to me is unhinged just enough, it’s perfect.

Most underrated Zelda game ever. Also, most people seem to think that "Skyward Sword" was the first game in the series to play up a possible romance between Link and Zelda. Well, they are wrong. That train (no pun intended) started with "Spirit Tracks".

Yes! Spirit Tracks had great music and puzzles for a Zelda game. Also this is random, but I read in the encyclopedia that the developers of the game wanted to make Zelda to feel more like a normal young girl than a royal princess, so they gave her a really fun personality and character arc.

It started with Zelda 2 lmao. They kiss at the end. OoT got Zelda screaming whenever Link is hit by Ganon and Link putting up his arm to protect Zelda AND Link going nuts when Ganondorf jails her. WW had Beedle taunting Link for having a crush on Tetra and then PH when Link can't take his eyes off Tetra and wants to hold her hand

She’s extra unhinged since she will straight up murder Link if you hit her too many times while she’s in her Phantom form. The amount of times I died because I kept accidentally hitting her with the boomerang is too much to count.

WHY ARE WE GUARDING IT" And for Zelda oh boy, third temple, refuse to go and wanted to ride the train she just went and casually said "this is your third temple you better get to manage your time better" man the whole game is just so unhinged that it felt more comedic than adventure and honestly its kinda relieving because i play Majora's mask before this and MJ scares me

***Spoilers for Tears of the Kingdom BotW/TotK Zelda: Turns back from being a dragon for literally thousands of years, gets saved by Link in mid-air in the most romantic, Disney/Studio Ghibli esque manner possible with a god-tier rendition of both their themes playing, doesn't hug him. Spirit Tracks Zelda: Gets her body back, falls ungracefully on top of Link as a silly version of his theme plays, immediately gives him the biggest hug while giggling in excitement, gratitude and affection. ST Zelda is a real one, full stop.

Thing I love about Zelda is, you can see her emotions, in the Phantom, the eyes colours change, and if you look closely at the ghost form, the hue is slightly different depending on her mood. Like, look at 4:58, her eyes turn red in either defiance, determination, or anger

I think SS is just as lighthearted as WW to be honest. Which I kind of appreciate, as I dislike games that try to look realistic and prefer the vibrant colors. That said though…it seems to allow the darker bits of those games (cough cough Ancient Cistern’s and private cabana’s basements) to somehow be that much more unnerving.

This was the first time I could really see a Link and Zelda ship being legitimate. All previous ones never had more than a couple of lines connecting them. I would argue that this game altogether has the best Link and Zelda moments because Zelda is with us the whole time instead of being kidnapped or sent to the past (weird that that’s happened twice, think I have two nickels now). It’s reasons like this that put Spirit Tracks in my top three. This game just doesn’t get the love it deserves the entire ds era doesn’t get enough credit. The Temple of the Ocean King is among my favorite dungeons (despite its obvious flaws) for having puzzles with multiple solutions something that would be perfect for modern zelda

The problem with Totk is that we barely know anything about their relationship; Nintendo really made an effort to show little or nothing about them, separating them so abruptly. All we see of them are moments where they must remain professional, and even then, there are very few. There are only about four scenes of them together in the entire game. The only thing we know for certain is that they both care deeply for each other and that Link never leaves her side.

tbf the Link in smash bros is Wind Waker Link (we know this because he's got the triforce and Master sword) so it makes sense why Smash bros Link doesn't have any moves from Spirit Tracks. At least we got the stage

Hear me out. Amazing idea for the switch. Wind Waker, Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks all as a trilogy pack like Mario 3D All Stars, WITH controller support for all games, still having optional touch screen support for PH and ST. With revamped and improved textures!

I'm glad someone else is pointing out the lack of chemistry in BOTW. This game is definitely one of the best romantic interpretations of these two. Edit: I definitely think that comes from the two of them spending time together organically. It's definitely the main reason why people enjoy the Link and Midna ship as well, I think.

I love this game so much!! I’ve loved trains since I was little and when I discovered the Legend of Zelda I’ve always wondered if they could put trains in it, then I discovered this game, loved it, and then promptly forgot about it as all the other games got more popular, now I realize how stupid I was to do that! For the prompt at 7:48, if you pick warrior, then during the ending cutscene when Zelda looks outside her window from doing paperwork you hear Link training outside in the courtyard as opposed to hearing him drive by on his train. Not sure what happens when you pick "Dunno." tho

I agree. My first play through I chose “dunno” and got to that cutscene I expected him to at least knock on the door like he decided to stick around but nope. Not even that. I was filled with a mix of disappointment and sadness.

I think, to answer your question about why people go hard on BOTW/TOTK being the "best" or "canon" Link/Zelda couple is that they either didn't play through Spirit Tracks, couldn't because when it released they didn't have a DS, or didn't know it existed (more-so forgot it existed). Obviously, that's no longer an excuse with the timeline that's existed since Skyward Sword and with emulation. I would say that Spirit Tracks Link and Zelda had the best chemistry as you see them interact through the whole game as opposed to just a few cutscenes and text logs.

Pick "Warrior", and in the ending you can hear Link fighting. Zelda looks at the window, waves at him... And turns her head away when he gets hit because he got distracted. She waves again seconds later and the both go back to their occupations.

No idea if anyone mentioned it but a cute detail, that choice of what you'll do after either be an engineer or warrior changes that ending scene slightly. If you choose warrior you hear swords clashing outside and she rushes to the window, you also hear Link yell presumably having gotten his butt kicked in training and I believe she even winces. Its adorable how both endings in some way they stay in touch

4:09 you're 100% right and you shouldn't let anyone tell you otherwise In BOTW and TOTK you have to find find stuff and go to Zelda's house to see the implication that they are in a relationship, meanwhile ST has the relationship develop (BOTW kind of had it too but you have to look for the memories) and clearly shows in dialogue and cutscenes that they blush and hold hands (they don't need to kiss, they are kids, lets let them hold hands for now)

Also, I prefer Link and Mipha over Zelda and Link in BOTW because it's stated multiple times that She was in love in him AND she basically made him an engagement ring. Also Sidon states that he wished they got married so him and Link could be brother-in-laws

Imo BOTW and TOTK should have done what Ocarina of Time did and give us a decent enough time to know the characters BEFORE Link falls asleep for years on end. Like: BOTW: Revali's spirit is trapped in a mechanical beast? Why should I care he's dead. OOT: SARIA'S TRAPPED IN THE LOST WOODS?! 😱 HOLD ON BESTIE I'M COMING!!

@@Lady_ETHNE I think their romantic relationship has improved drastically in TotK, especially considering they lived in the same house at some point after the calamity. However, all we get is just text and tidbits in the game about their relationship. No cutscene where they hug or do anything romantic like in spirit tracks. Although, Zelda does simp for link in one of the cutscenes where she talks about him to Rauru, I thought it was cute lol.

Spirit Tracks has always been one of my favorite Zelda games. I don't know what it is about it that makes me prefer it over even Phantom Hourglass. But the story, the music, having Zelda be our companion character, the fun interactions between her and Link as their friendship develops and grows throughout the game, all of it. I just can't help but love it. It also helps that the game has one of my favorite final boss themes in the series. The way the song transitions from the Final Duet, swelling triumphantly as the light symbol appears on Maladus's back, with him roaring defiantly gives me chills every time.

There is a reason why I love Spirit Tracks and Skyward Sword more than other Zelda games, and it's because of THIS. I'm no lying when I say I ADORED how they portrayed not only Zelda's personality, also how they made Link and Zelda's interractions feel so cute and fitting. There is just so much moments where both care for each other and have fun despite the situation, like both are the strenght and support for the other. I swear it was so adorable to see them developing such a strong bond during all the journey and how they still are in contact after the end. That's love, pure and beautiful!

I wouldn't say it's the ONLY game with ZeLink in it per say (I mean when it comes to shipping, you can ship whoever you want despite lack of evidence from canon) but it's the game that pushes ZeLink the hardest and they have have the best chemistry here. Skyward Sword came pretty darn close, but Zelda gets kidnapped for most of it unlike Spirit Tracks where she's always by Link's side.
