Great word. I used to think I needed a mentor even after being ordained. Needed to ask them to confirm what God was saying to me etc. God knocked them all off the pedestal I put them on.

I was with my young adults group last night and my pastor said i had the gift of exhortation

This was so good! I have the gift of exhortation and I can totally see how it can be confused with teaching. When I operate in my gift ppl always encourage me to start a Bible Study. I was also asked to be a Sunday school teacher. And I’ve also homeschooled my children. After years of hearing “start a Bible study” I finally did. And it was cool. But you’re right. Exhortation operates more relational one on one and I actually prefer that. Maybe I too have the gift of teaching but it’s def not as strong as exhortation. I LOVE to exhort. To encourage and to remind ppl of the truth. “Yes this is how you feel and this is your circumstance right now but this is the actual truth” and point them back to scripture. I really enjoyed this teaching. Thank you! Be blessed
