Thanks for the comment. What advice i would give you is to really work with both Midi CC 1 and 11 ( Mod and Expression) to animate the sound like live players. Also another thing to watch out for is to not play too many notes simultaneously on sustained sounds as these ensemble patches can get muddy. Good luck!

I think the CS longs and the Low Octave longs sound very good. I think this is a great pickup for students who are on a budget and writing in Logic using just the stock strings.

​@@PeteCalandra Oh definitely. If you've never owned any of the Spitfire strings Epic Strings is a serious upgrade from the Logic stock strings at an extremely low price. I actually went ahead and purchased Epic Strings. I have always been on the fence about purchasing Albion One so I'm glad to at least somewhat get just the strings for only $29 (I know that these strings are from the original Albion) and save a ton of money. Looking forward to the others (Brass, Drums, etc) in this collection.

Hi Ishtar. Unless you feel comfortable inputting notes by drawing them in with a pencil type tool, you will need some sort of device that transmits midi note data. For this type of music, a midi keyboard is the most often used. There are other kinds of controllers that can transmit midi note data but I don't make use of them as I am a keyboard player.

Hi. Pro Tools is not the program for generating scores. You can see notation but it is only basic. Avid has a deal where you can send your session to Sibelius to clean up. If you are more interested in composing music for live players, then a notation program would be something to look into rather than a DAW.

This plug in is AAX AU and VST so if the Muse uses any of those formats it, most likely would work. I would contact Spitfire support and ask them directly tho. I can see how these would be fabulous for live playing.

Filip Jonathan not at this time. It’s something I would hope they add in a future update. They have some other optimization scheme they have been refining with updates but no option to Purge Samples as of now.

Hi Thanks for watching and the very kind words. The only thing I did was to add an L3 Ultra on the Master channel. It's just a little bit to keep any peaks under control. I have a Focusrite Red 4Pre and the audio out went into a sound devices mix pre 6 before I put it back into pro tools with the voice over to mix. There is no EQ on the strings at all....

Hi. I haven't noticed that but some other people, since I have uploaded this video, have noticed a few oddities in the programming. That being said, it is still a useful piece.

Black Friday is coming up. My favorite and most used all around Spitfire string library is the Chamber Strings. In fact I used them on a short film I finished today for the Kennedy Center Honors and they sounded excellent if they go on sale that would be a recommendation . 8dio Adagietto is on sale thru Dec 1 2019 at 58 US dollars. I just played it a bit and, while it has a different sound, it has both ensembles and sections and more articulations. For me, some of the dynamic sustains of Adagietto are a bit limited for usage but the other sounds are pretty good there as well. Thanks for watching.

It depends on your work flow. i have to get things done quickly and this makes me use ensemble sounds for writing. The Epic strings has that, Discover does not. It's really up to your work flow. I usually only buy things when a job comes up that i can justify the purchase.

Pete Calandra Music makes sense. I think I’m going for OPW today. Only want to spend under $50. Lol. I have epic percussion and brass and woodwinds. Those are great!

Hi Sharath. Thanks for the comment. i have not heard the Aria sounds library. If you look thru my channel you will see many videos on creating music. After the fall semester ends, I will have a bit more time to put into creating educational content that is more than screencasts of my current classes.

I was watching to day the Film Scoring Classes, so far i was watching the 'Class 1 intro and creating spotting notes', .. these videos are helpful for on to know about the film scoring and thank you for uploading them :) . Thanks for watching. I just spent a few minutes with Sessions Strings Pro 2. Costs 5 times more. Has more articulations. Has a very close and detailed sound. The close string sound is more defined than the close mic on the Epic Strings. Does not have the tree mics or ambient mics that Epic Strings does and that sound can't really be captured with artificial reverb as well. I think they are two totally different products that will appeal to different end users. I could easily see recommending this to my students (for 30 US dollars) to get them out of using Logics EXS strings for my film scoring class.

Hi.. go to the Korg website and download the app for the NanoKontrol. It’s pretty easy to use. I set my sliders up in this order CC1, CC11, CC7, CC2, CC21 AND CC17.

Thanks for watching and the question. As far as I know, they do not transmit controller data. That being said, can always draw in the data after the fact. I did that for years. Also. perhaps you can pick up a controller like the korg I am using used for very little cash.

@@PeteCalandra I'm looking to buy this and can confirm that the LABS app does output the mod and expression values so they can be recorded - at least it does in Reaper and FL Studio. These values can then be refined / tweaked afterwards.

Bought Epic Strings, and Epic Brass yesterday and they both let you record automation data for the various parameters (checked in Reaper and FL Studio).

@@pw7752 thank you, just so everyone is clear: to record data is different than transmit data. You record the MIDI CC to control the expression and Mod into your DAW and your DAW tells those parameters in Epic Strings how to behave. My understanding of the question was that if you are recording a midi track and move one of the sliders in Epic Strings, does that get recorded. Does it transmit that CC data to your DAW? That is how i interpreted the question. Thanks again for all the answers, dialog is always good!!!!!

@@PeteCalandra I've recorded MIDI tracks using my Roland and Yamaha keyboards, and FL Studio will record the sliders (expression/reverb/tightness etc.) regardless of whether I move them with my mouse in the plugin itself, or if I use the faders on the keyboard (which send CC messages into the DAW and hence to the plugin). I haven't checked Reaper or Cubase as yet.(Also have to admit I'm not sure about when the question says 'transmit' the MIDI data - where to?).

Hi Kris. I would wait for Black Friday, around Thanksgiving and see what kinds of sales that sample library companies are offering. I don't know of a company that just sells legato violins.

Orchestral Tools offers separate instruments from the Berlin Inspire 1 collection and there is a nice violins legato patch there you can buy for 28 euros... except for the fact that they right now offer a voucher for holidays that can get you 25 euros off (OT-holidays-2020). Really great legato for 3 euros if you're still looking! x)

Have you installed the drivers from their website and the app that programs the unit? Also is there a place in Cubase where you select the input devices? In Pro Tools there is a page for that... That's all I can think of.

Hi.. These are all ensemble patches. You would need a different library and most likely spend more money for what you would like to do.

Hi. In that section the strings are broken out into high and low patches. Here they are all in one. There are 5 arts, 2 short 1 long, 1 long in octaves and long CS in octaves and then some fx patches. There is no straight CS patch. Hope that helps

They are the strings from the original Albion (which they are now calling Albion Legacy), not Albion One, repackaged in their own player.

It was a bit abrupt but the original library was two patches, upper strings and lower strings so the original material (recorded close to a decade ago) might not have been matched as properly...

Pete Calandra Music Thank You for very quick answer! As i really consider buying this vst, mainly for layering with my current kontakt libraries i have 2 more questions. Is it draining a lot of CPU power and RAM or is it realtively light? Secondly (thats not really required by me but im curious) is it possible to play it in a way to achieve legato patch (smooth transitions using single notes) while in live or in fact any mode? Thank You in advance.

@@krzakson8 Not too bad with Ram or CPU and no real legato with transition intervals with this one.
