Great video Elin. If this had been up already, I might have had the gumption to attempt it after all.🤪 I'm glad my transmission and your videos can be helpful for others in the future.
While checking your speed gears you also have to check the condition of the small synchronizer gear teeth. Make sure the teeth have good, pronounced pointed “roof tops”. If the small teeth tops are worn, chipped, and or rounded over it will delay the hub from pushing the baulk ring and slowing the gear and letting everything line up and slide freely. Even with new brass synchronizer baulk rings you could still have a shift issue if there are bad synchronizer teeth on your speed gear. It must not be overlooked. Correct gear oil is also a big issue. Some sulphur additives in GL5 will attack brass syncro’s and turn them black and possibly cause premature wear.
Hi Elin, I rebuilt my gearbox with help from your earlier videos… I replaced my syncro rings as they were close to .030 and checked all the end floats etc. however I still get a crunch from 3 to 4 if I am not careful and also from 4 - 3… what do you think can cause this ?
