Join me as I embark on an early morning adventure in Nako. I woke up at 5:15 AM and headed to the terrace of my homestay to absorb the breathtaking view of Nako Valley. The clouds beautifully covered the mountains, and although it was chilly, it was less cold than the night before.
From this vantage point, I could see helipads and almost every village, as this area is close to the Indo-China border with unpredictable weather conditions necessitating emergency services. After enjoying the mountain views, I took a morning stroll towards the famous Nako Lake, just 900 meters from our homestay. Remember to always carry a water bottle when trekking, unlike me-I got breathless many times but my curiosity and enthusiasm kept me going.
After Nako Lake, we visited Nako Hill Point, which features a shrine and offers a panoramic view of the entire Nako Valley. It was truly an amazing experience. After returning, I had breakfast, freshened up, and checked out to start our journey to Gue Monastery in Spiti Valley.
As we entered Spiti Valley, we touched snow for the first time on this trip and captured some amazing photos. At Gue Monastery, we visited the 500-year-old mummy of Sanga Tenzin, a Buddhist monk believed to have started his mummification process while still alive. Reading through the history of the Gue Mummy was exhilarating.
