Man, oh MAN, do I love this ride. Now I like The Princess and the Frog, and I'm sure the new attraction will be cool, but part of me still hopes against all hope that they will NOT proceed with the plans for re-theming. I just LOVE the design of this ride, and seeing all the critters and the antics of Brers Rabbit, Fox and Bear always puts a smile on my face. I also think "Song of the South" is a worthy film, but I guess that's a discussion for another time. Once again, an AMAZING quality video!

If “Song of the South” was made without the live-action portions, it would probably continue to be there for many years to come. It’s rumoured to close for re-theming in January 2022, which is when the ride normally closes for maintenance.

Ah yes! Let's turn this classic and amazing ride into a princess and the frog ride and take out all the amazing animatronics and just fill the ride with screens! AMAZING

Oh man I can't WAIT for all those unique and lively animatronics to be replaced with generic screens and CGI. All jokes aside, I get it. I just hope the Imagineers understand that this Princess and the Frog ride has to blow us away.

@@IzzoCello I'm not happy with this bunch of "imagineers" they now have! Not sure if they are being stifled by Chapek or that they've lost their way. You, on the other hand, have a very compelling idea. Cajun food/singing -- it's what they do on the cruises...so why not on dry land. Crystal Palace is a nice neutral location...hmmmmm

@@Liz.R my ideas are conglomeration of what I’ve heard others say. I can’t take full credit. I’d like to give them the benefit of the doubt and say they’re being stifled. The overlay sounds like management saying “okay we don’t want this ride put PATF here” instead of “we need more inclusion and get rid of some insensitivity, give us ideas”. Hopefully we’ll get a good overlay from Imagineers without too much budget hacking from management.

It's a shame that so many effects and animatronics have hardly been operational in years, especially as it's nearing closure it'd be nice to see everything working as it should one last time.

A fun ride for sure but can't wait to see how the retheme turns out. Hopefully the majority of the animatronics stay and we don't end up with a mostly screen based ride.

I completely agree. Disney needs to seriously keep the animatronics. We can’t have a Great Movie Ride - Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway situation again where we lost all the animatronics and replaced them with screens

@@4KWDW Sadly, the re-theme is being led by the same Imagineer that led the Runaway Railway project. So it may be inevitable. Although of course, there are still quite a few animatronics in Runaway Railway.

Update: Kevin Rafferty was *supposed* to lead the re-theme, but then he retired in January. They're also referencing Splash Mountain in 50th Anniversary videos, so we'll likely have at least another year and a half to continue enjoying Spash Mountain as it is today.

thanks 4K - best overall ride in all of Disney, nothing compares for duration, fun and theming. Hope when it gets updated, they are as creative as the folks who originally themed it - time will tell.

Yes, it really is a perfect blend of fun, thrill, and great storytelling as well. I think the lead Imagineer who worked on Splash Mountain is also in charge of the retheme to Princess and the Frog, so that gives me some hope.

Can’t beat ride times after a Florida rain shower. Thank you for sharing. This is probably my all time favorite ride. Well, one of them. I will miss it. I’m sure Princess and the Frog will be wonderful. I love that movie and music. I just wish we could have it without losing Splash Mountain and the Zip A Dee Doo Da day.

i feel splash mountain has had its time (along with country bear jamboree) animatronics are totally outdated and definitely need a refurb. (also pirates of the caribbean needs a refurb. can’t wait to see the new princess and the frog.

@@foggy2825 ah yes a fellow Goji fan. But yeah I agree. There needs to be some nostalgic rides left for the older audience. One of those happens to be splash mountain. However they’re getting rid of an already super popular ride. Why try to fix it if it ain’t broke?

BTW-did u or someone u know get stuck on the monorail? If u had the camera, you'd probably have filmed it, so this might be a stupid question then."Monorail stuck" doesn't seem as bad as "gondola stuck".🚡🚡

Thank you Liz! It was great to ride Splash Mountain again. It has been too long since the last time I rode it! None of us got stuck on the monorail yesterday, but I did hear about that. One of us definitely would have filmed it if we were on it! I got stuck on the monorail back in June 2017 for about 45 minutes and it was so horrible. But definitely better than getting stuck in the Skyliner lol

3pm and such a short line. A rare event for this ride. I got to go on it in June and enjoyed seeing the current theme one last time. By the next time I get the chance it will be rethemed, which will be a great new experience.

They just need to give her a bit more love and care and Splash mountain will be back on her feet and to her original glory, no need for princess and the frog. Going to WDW in December 2022 and that will be the last time I get to ride the real splash mountain.

Thnx for such a wonderful video. One of my fave childhood tales. Pity is been removed. What would Walt Disney had to say if he were alive. This movie just captures/illustrates a problematic issue of that time in my opinion it does not promote it. But well thanks again for uploading such a great video.

Such a fun ride on a hot day. I'm sad this ride is leaving, but they always replace it with a better ride, such as Princess and the Frog coming soon in 2022.

I miss this ride a lot. Disney actually hasn’t said when the new version will open. They haven’t even said when Splash Mountain is closing, which is strange. They are also currently refurbishing the exterior of the ride for the 50th anniversary so it will probably still be open for awhile longer

Disney hasn’t said when it will close. They are currently refurbishing the exterior of the ride for the 50th anniversary celebration of Magic Kingdom(which lasts 18 months) so it sounds like it will be around for a little while longer

Hi I never done splash mountain 2018 it we had thunder storms so back emerald gardens were we stayed.

Oh I’m sorry about that Barb. Yes, this ride has to shut down when there is a storm in the area and it usually takes awhile for it to reopen

The maintenance is starting to get seriously bad, which is a shame. When I rode on November 2nd and 3rd, at least 5 animatronics were malfunctioning, two were turned off, and (despite the previous statement) at least two in the finale were removed for repairs. Based on the camera direction at 8:03 as well as the audio, it looks like one of them was turned off even then. If you don't know which one I'm talking about, it is the hopping Br'er Rabbit (also known as the Million Dollar Bunny).

Yea, it was actually an interesting situation. Not only was the ride down for awhile due to storms, but the park closed early that day because of a private event at Magic Kingdom. So the park was pretty empty all day since it closed at 6pm and I’m assuming many guests felt it wasn’t worth it to go

I like this ride but i hate hate the drop..i always ask for the back. My heart beats fast throughout this ride. Once at the drop section n hearing that scary song and they saying no turning back now or something to that degree. But i always bury my head in my seat low has i can get it lol.

Is there anyone else who thinks the Princess and the Frog theme doesn't fit this ride well? I mean, New Orleans is literally below sea level...in a swamp...and we're talking about putting it inside a mountain? How do we convince Disney to make this a Moana ride? Not only is there a mountain in that movie, but the mountain is the most important character!! Plus, she finds the answer to her heritage in a cave. With a waterfall. And boats (!) It's perfect! This ride could be so great themed as Moana! And is Moana's story not the epitome of "adventure"(adventureland!)? Let's replace a different (dated) ride with Tiana...Winnie the Pooh perhaps? The ride could be right next to the princess meet and greet! I mean, love Pooh bear...but out with the old, in with the new...right? 🤔 I'm curious on opinions on this...

I can’t see how this even comes close to the old ride “Space Mountain” in The Anaheim Park (Disneyland). The old Space Mountain went faster and the ride had more ups and downs and good splashes.

Sadly, with society problems (bc ofc there is) they called splash mountain “racist” and are making them change it to tiana. We all always remember this classic ride! :(
