When there's a splash pot, you should treat it as if blinds were posted for the same amount. Basically it's dead money you're trying to win, and your raise sizes should be driven by that. Now, it makes things crazy, but for instance at 10:30 where there's a $75 splash. That's dead money equivalent to a $25/50 game. So your open should be on the order of $150. "That's silly - people are only $500-700 deep." Exactly. So this is like being in a tournament where everybody has 10-15 blinds. I.e. there should be a ton of preflop shoving. When you get AKs in that situation it's an *easy* shove preflop. If you take down the $75, great, and if you're called you're probably in fabulous shape. People truly suck at splash pots, so you can make big bucks by playing them correctly.

10:20 Something like that happened to me about 20 years ago at a Foxwoods tournament. UTG raised, UTG+1 thought about a call for a few seconds until UTG showed him his cards and UTG+1 mucks. Dealer immediately called the floor before any of us said a word. Result: Hand exposed for all to see (pocket kings) but not killed, one orbit penalty for UTG (UTG+1 successfully lobbied for no penalty as he didn't ask to see the cards), and both were severely warned about collusion.

Sounds like a horrible floor ruling if her hand was ruled dead, especially if the person she showed her cards to folded. After that action, there is no way her hand should be ruled dead or even exposed (at least until the end if you think there was collusion). Further, if you called the floor immediately, before the other player acted on his hand, perhaps something could be done. Once he folds, you don't get a free-roll against her (play the hand out and have it declared dead once you lose). Might she have cost you some action? Yes. But that happens all the time with out of turn calling. The punishment is not declaring a hand dead (which should be the last resort for any ruling). Regardless, you won the pot. No harm, no foul (unless those two were colluding and he folded pocket 77s or A8). Finally, it seems like she was new or a newer player. Remember to keep it fun for the fun players. They keep your bankrolls healthy and make the games enjoyable. Same goes for critiquing other loose players' (VIPs' or fun players') play. Good luck.
