I think DJ Octavio’s memcake implies that Agent 8 had a good impression of Octavio. They state their reason for leaving is just wanting more. They give their “sincerest apology” to him. It’s more that Agent 8’s eyes are opened to what’s on the surface rather than feeling oppressed: they are sorry to be leaving. Singing seems to hold a lot of power in Splatoon. It’s important enough that Marie has to sing rather than fight Octavio directly. It’s probably a song to counter the influence of Octavio and Callie’s Bomb Rush Blush. She can’t sing the Calamari Inkantation alone, she has to get Callie free first.
The one thing I don't get is that Marina has the Octavio sticker on her laptop, and yet she says in one of the chat logs that she could no longer live under the "oppression of Octarian society" after hearing the Inkantation, which makes it sound like she grew to dislike life under Octavio. Is this an issue with the translation or something?
@@C_Arson I don't think that necessarily contradicts. Think having a boss/manager that you like but the higher ups are insufferable or the overall company culture is bunk.
@@C_Arson I’d love to see what the Japanese for that line is. But my current interpretation is that it IS oppressive to live in that society. Not so much because Octavio’s regime is particularly harsh from a “gotta keep in charge” perspective, but that they have to restrict so many resources to live. It kinda doesn’t matter what Octavio does. Except for one thing - he keeps stealing energy sources. Which is the one thing that might make their society more bearable. At least, if you want to read that line in a way that paints Octavio in the best light. (And he IS flawed. He’d rather steal an energy source rather than ask for help, it seems, which no matter how you slice it, is the wrong approach. Unless it is revealed that he tried that and Inklings said no, which is possible.)

Idk why, but that "Happy New Year" thing was...REALLY unsettling, dhvdgsvsvs. Anyway, this LP is already one of my new personal faves, it was such a blast. I learned a ton and gained better appreciation for a many weapons I glossed over before, so, I'd definitely say Chugga's missions statement was accomplished here! This is it. The final episode of Splatoon 2. It’s been one shell of ride, even longer for Chugga himself, and to see it out is as bittersweet as it gets in more ways then one. Both this series and Splatoon 2 as a whole is coming to an end with Splatoon 3 exactly 6 weeks away. I have a feeling this game’s fate will be that of Smash 4’s at least from a competitive standpoint with all the Missile and Armor spam, but as a whole, I’m gonna miss wandering the Octo Canyon and Deepsea Metro, taking down waves of Salmonoids, and fighting on the Reef, Sturgeon, and yes, even Triggerfish, even if it’s for the worst reasons

Agreed. Splatoon, Animal Crossing, and Kirby are firmly in the "looks cool, not for me" category for my personal tastes, but I thoroughly enjoyed the LP nonetheless. I respect Chuggaa for the time and dedication he puts into his projects.
@@jollama Do you watch the LP for the game, or do you watch the LP for the RU-vidr themselves? A person can watch someone's LPs, and not be into the game said RU-vidr's playing. I'm not into the Xenoblade Chronicles games, but I still watched and enjoyed both his LPs of Xenoblade 1 and Xenoblade 2, mostly because I love Chuggaaconroy's personality, the hard work, effort and time he put into those LPs, and his commentary. Those things made those two LPs enjoyable to watch.

One thing you missed about the unused octo gear is that Octo shades with the kelp, when worn the game forcibly disables the draw values of the kelp, rendering them invisible.

It's really funny to me, that Splatoon 2 is more of an expansion. Adding new modes and weapons, but not adding much to the story. And then on the other hand you have the Octo Expansion, which is more of a sequel than an expansion! The story of octo expansion adds so much more to the world and tests your skills further than anything previously presented.
I have to say that Octo Expansion completely changed my view of the game, lol. I saw Octo Canyon as just this upbeat rescue mission and countering the antics of Octavio again. Then Octo Expansion is this creepy look into 2 societies, completing trials to regain your lost memory of an oppressive society through poems, and then actually saving the world from certain doom!
It's interesting that the artwork of Cuttlefish and Octavio sitting together shows Octavio in a humanoid form, implying that he is an Octoling and not some other form of octopus creature like the tentacle-based Octarians or the Octoweapons. It's interesting that he generally chooses to remain in his octopus form. Or maybe his scars are indicative of an injury that removed his ability to change form?

In my opinion, Chugga’s Splatoon 2’s Let’s Play is one of the best series I have seen from the channel in a long time. It showed how much detail and effort was put into describing every aspect of this game, especially with the weapons bios, and has converted me into a big Splatoon fan who is excited to play Splatoon 3 at launch. Here’s hoping for the Splatoon 3 Let’s Play that will surely bring the same charm that Splatoon 2 did, and I am waiting to see what adventures await in the next series.
This video feels like the perfect way to end splatoon 2. Almost like a final episode in a season or series. With a little over a month u til splatoon 3 releases it makes the feeling all the more present. I’m glad we all got to experience this forever and I will see you all in splatoon 3. I’ve been watching you since 08 when I was just looking for what Earthbound was like while trying to find a reasonably priced copy and since then you’re the only RU-vidr/Let’s Player that I still watch because unlike the rest of them you just focus on the games and the videos and I respect the hell out of that. Really cool to see that some old concepts made it into splatoon 3, like the donketsu at 2:53. While they dont function exactly the same, you can cause the missile enemies to launch forwards now, and there are large variants of them.
I'm impressed that this came out so quickly. While I only watched the Octo Expansion segments, it is clear how much time and effort was put into this series to make it the best it could be. Thank you for all your time and effort, Chugga

This has been such a great series, thanks for doing it! With the whole Splatoon community getting ready for Splatoon 3 and its release getting closer and closer every day, this is a great sendoff for Splatoon 2. Highlighting all the single player, showing off each weapon completely, and kinda just making a complete archive for this whole game. Splatoon 2 is my favorite multiplayer game of all time (at least until Splatoon 3 inevitably overtakes it) with one of the best DLCs in any game, and I'm so glad you could do it the justice it deserves. Here's to Splatoon 3 and whatever the next let's play is!
I'm way behind on this and wasn't able to make a note of it on an earlier episode so that chugga might see it, but there's actually one tiny last detail! When riding the tower in the octo expansion tower control stages, the little jingle isn't the same as multiplayer: instead, the jingle is based on "completion", the song that plays when the telephone is constructing the blender!
As someone who played a lot of Splatoon and Splatoon 2 (before the change in internet services) I really loved getting to remember a game I completely fell in love with by watching these videos. I even picked up the octo expansion right when you started releasing these videos (though that was independent of this), and was really happy I had some Splatoon content to watch while I bashed my head against some of those walls. Seriously great work on these videos, and I’m happy this whole series got to be my send off to this game as well as probably yours.

I've known you for almost as long as I've been on RU-vid and I'd finally like to thank you for the amazing bunch of videos to watch over the years. It's been a big pleasure watching every single video and letting me know about unknown gems like the Okami and Xenoblade Chronicles series, I even bought XC3 because of it (and completely forgot to watch your videos for the past few days). Your videos have been one out of few creators I can consistently watch without getting bored. Thank you for being a part of my childhood. Thank you for making such excellent videos despite the push from RU-vid to change. And IMO your Mother 3 episode intros are still one of the best starts to any video I've seen. I just want to say, this series was a great pleasure to watch. You alone got me into the series with your Let's Play of Splatoon 1, and I've gone on to make countless friends through Splatoon 2. A lot of the friends I had made through the game had also got into the series through your 2016 Splatoon LP, and some of us even watched this LP together. While this series was going on, I even met up with some of them in-person for the first time after almost 5 years of knowing each other! Moreover, Splatoon 2 is my most-played game of all time and is still the only game I've invested more than 1000 hours into. None of this would have happened if it wasn't for you. Thank you, Chugga!
This game grew up with me. I made so much friends and got to have so much fun with them during its glory days. I remember every moment to this day. Grouping with friends at splatfests, playing hide and seek in private battles, screaming at times during salmon run, going wild that march direct when octo expansion was first announced, this game really did raise me in a way. Thank you again for your series. I wish I could've watched every episode and get to this but with a life as busy as mine it gets hard unfortunately to keep up. Here's hoping splat 3 does the same ^-^

Thank you so much for both the LPs. I never played Splatoon until the test fire for 3, and I actually got into it because of listening to the awesome music. After beating 3's campaign I wanted to learn more about 1 and 2, and these taught me and entertained me so much. I know you probably want a break, but I can't wait to watch your Splatoon 3 LP someday.
Fun fact: if you beat Octo Expansion with every weapon on every level, the CQ-80 interface will have the Kamabo Logo tiled over the background. It's faint and hard to see, but it IS there.
I originally got into Splatoon years ago after watching your Splatoon 1 lets play and this let's play was a perfect follow up. Since then I've played Splatoon for a couple hundred hours and like to think I've gotten pretty good at it. So thank you for introducing me to one of my favorite video game franchises and continuing to make these great let's plays.

I find it interesting that people believe DJ Octavio mind controls the entire Octoling society due to the "souls freed by the Calamari Inkantaion" line. For me, it seemed clear that it was more of a metaphor for those who grow up in bad environments; you don't REALIZE it's a bad environment until you see something from outside that counteracts your perception of "normal." And considering growing up underground without any ability to access the surface is... Not Great, I feel like that experience would be par for the course.

Oh, we don't have the "Next Series" endcard yet! But this was an awesome trip, I'm so pumped for a Splatoon 3 LP... ...which is a trip to think about. One day we're gonna hear you talk about how the Sloshing Machine _used_ to be incredibly dominant, and the Tenta Brella's weird hitboxy stuff and flying away when it would hit Salmonids is just gonna be a funny footnote in one episode.
Agreed. This is the second time I've watched this lp to completion with the exception of the vid that has all of the weapon bios in them as I've done it once in the span of a week.
This LP truly taught me how to appreciate this game and not to unfairly criticize it because I was very close minded. a big thing to trigger this a friend outright calling me trash and then calling up a friend of his, that I never met or knew, to mock me for being bad at the game. I put the game down for about 6 months and didn't pick it up until this LP told me otherwise. this game is fun and a good time, you just gotta try it's variety of modes and weapons to see that, and I hope Splatoon 3 is the same story. Thank you Chugga for allowing me to see this game in a new light.

Callie (from under the floating island): It’s DJ ASSISTANT CALLIE! *Both she and DJ Octavio rise up from behind the cliff on Octavio’s war/DJ machine and Callie wearing the shades in her evil outfit once more* Octavio: Muhahahahahahah!!! Oh how silly it was of her to try those shades on she loves most again, only to end up helping me escape my imprisonment! Hahahahahaaa! Marie: You! How dare you! Octavio: What? I’m just trying to bring things back to the way they were. With Mack resigned from the Octarian armies, I’m finally King and leader of the Octarians once more! All Grizzco Weapons in the armies have been disposed of, and Operation CO2 is ceased and desisted! Twintacle (next to Octavio. The same one Beax tortured, with a laptop in front): Good timing too, Boss. The Octarian audience is awaiting us, and Agent 4, at the stage set right now! Octavio: Don’t be late, you two love squids! Marie: I accept your apology, and I love it, but I just need to relief myself of something that’s been bothering me since we were enemies. *tosses a portable respawner, the Sisters gave her, to Mack* Mack: *Catches the respawner, activating it on contact with his ink color* Marie: In case you do get killed. But this will be fast, so don’t worry. *pulls out a Sand-Vich from her kimono* Mack: *realizing where this was heading* Oh no….. "ShinOcta" with that slow splashdown and huge size leads me to believe it was a prototype of the king salmonoid Cohozuna we see in Splatoon 3, just significantly more overpowered.
Well another chuggaconroy lp in the books and honestly it's bittersweet for me as well. Your LP convinced me to get Splatoon 2. I soon fell in love with the game, and now I'm so excited for Splatoon 3. I have money saved up for it and will be getting it when it releases. Thank you for making content as always. This LP along with every LP you make, are some of the reasons why I'm able to smile most days. Idk you probably won't read this or respond. The existence of the enemy called Tako Tank makes me think of a very specific Transformers toy that would probably fit hilariously well in Splatoon as a design. Those of you familiar with Beast Wars II will probably know what I mean...
I'm surprised you didn't mention this after talking about the Japan-exclusive gear but: Splatoon 3 is confirmed to be INTERNATIONAL! Which means no more exclusive gear or Splatfests in the next game!
