André de Lacerda Santos omg the part where he said "don't die" is so real I related to that on a personal level I've died so much now I'm so much better
Bruh I came here to get some tips to cus i wanted to get back into splatoon 2 cus i got hyped of 3. And i left with some great life advice and feeling inspired and honestly... hopeful. Thanks mate
the losing streaks is what gets me down in this game, losing a few in a row i start to get irate and i become scared to come back fear it will happen again.
Thank you for this video! How i currently train my movement and aim , is i play on broken controllers that shift my analog sticks , so i have to be more precise with the movement, so when i play on a goood controller i move and aim better, is this training tactic any good?
Sooo.. I watched this video a long time ago. I was a B rank in every mode by then?.. I don’t really remember. Anyways, I followed the tips and tried my best. Literally. EVERY DAY. So, as time passed... ahaha now I’m an X rank 96 gal main...
I was really good at this game before, but ever since Nintendo online came out I didn’t buy it, and couldn’t play splatoon, I lost most of my skill especially with my sniper.
Regarding "watch your gameplay": I really hope Nintendo will add a mode in the future where you can rewatch your recent matches (e.g. like MKTV). I can feel this video was tons of work, so I really hope as many as possible will see it!
A spectating option for friends (either whenever they want or while waiting to join your next match) would be really cool as well. Self reflection is already a big step towards success but theres always a chance you might miss something, therefore it would be great if anyone else could point those things out and hand out some constructive tips :) Not sure if Nintendo would do something like that tho, hopefully in future updates or in a possible third Splatoon game if it’s too much for now
You can use the Switch's screenshot button to record videos. They're only 30 seconds max, so it's best to record immediately after a key moment, like a team wipe or losing a 1v1 for example.
It's easier to find like minded people online than it is everywhere else! On the internet you can filter people with the exact same interest while in real life you have to stick to that small circle of people around you. So I highly recommend to seek for like minded people on the internet it's the easiest way to make friends.
Don’t complain... I think that is the most important point. People is so selfish that thinks the world spin around them. They find it hard to accept that there are other players who busted their asses of to become who they are...
This is the first guide I've seen that actually explains how to improve - most stop at "practice loads", whilst you've actually explained how to do this practicing. Thank you so much! ^^
Yeah, it's a great video. I used to do most of this stuff for Soul Calibur 2 back in the day and it works. Especially recommend that you find a way to record your matches and watch them with a small group of people.
Being persistent is good and all, however if you are salty or tilted at the moment, you will never improve. Take a break. Play turf war. Practice your skills. Do anything but the thing that got you angry
dankey kang honestly taking a breaks has help me rank up alot faster than just going at it like a mad man getting 10 losses in a session now if I loss more than twice in a row I chill out for a bit and try to come back.
This. I was S+9 in RM and I won 6-9 matches in a row. (I don’t remember exactly.) I was literally 1 game away from ranking up to X, but I lost one match. That was fine, since you can’t win every match you play. Another game passes, and my team got wiped within 20 seconds and got a loss by KO instantly. By then, I was a little mad at myself since I only needed one more win. I ended up losing until my meter cracked 4 times in one session. I put the game down for the rest of the week, and came back only to get rank X almost immediately. And proceeded to get demoted almost as fast. Oh well, at least I got there lol
a thing i like to do is whenever i lose/fail/die, i just make loud noises while i'm still having fun before i let the anger build up and i become genuinely angry. whenever i'm silent, i dont do as well as when i'm hyper and all over the place.
Very true, but it's really hard not to get salty when both my cross hairs are on an enemy while I'm using the splash o matic and should get like 9 shots off but get 3
If you really work on this, Splatoon is such a great game for working on yourself. Particularly Splat Zones where every death is an opportunity to regain focus, control your anxiety, and mostly reflect on yourself how to come back "as a team" and contribute to a shared victory. I'm an average X player and even though I don't play competitively I always spend time in the training room before I play so I can be at my top game for that day and help my team. Out of respect to your random teammates is the best habit to have before jumping into any match or anything in your life that isn't Splatoon
I love Splatoon but every time I think about going competitive I get nervous cause I feel like I'm too old to do it. But after watching this video, maybe it wouldn't be so bad to attempt to get to Rank X and see what happens from there
Ok, since we're sharing tips and tricks... I've got a few things. 1. You can move/Swim with your map open. 2. Use it. (Your map) As in, watch the ink during the match while you travel. You can spot enemies by seeing the enemy ink the ground while they move forward. This makes it easier to spot enemies who want to flank you and/or want to get behind your team. 3. Learn all to ways to get around in every map. As in familiarize yourself with every possible way to get to a certain area. Also, start seeing the maps as if they were cut into sections. This will help more in turf war but it's helpful to know what section needs the most attention at the given time. For example: Art Academy The Art Academy has (Well, in my mind) has seven sections. 2 Spawn areas, 2 Shell areas before the spawn area, 2 lower areas, and the middle area. Wish I could show you but, I think you have a general idea of what I'm talking about. At least I hope so. 4. Be tactical. Start thinking ahead of the enemy and try to out think them. Put yourself in their position and think of a way for defeat yourself. Then come up with a counter attack. For example: Let's say we're in turf war. It's the Art Academy and your team is being spawn killed and my team is in the shell area. What do you do? Well, If I were you I'd go to the left hallway bit and try to out flank the enemy team and/or try to get behind them. With knowing that, I tell my team, position myself to where I get the advantage, and as soon as you drop... I spring my trap. 5. Choke points. Find areas in the map where you can stop an enemy team from advancing. For example: (Turf War Art Academy... again) In the Shell section, there's a ramp leading to the middle area. That there is a choke point. (with an e-liter) One could put a ink mine at the beginning of the ramp and the end of it and just stay in the shell area.(or the little tower bit)They could start picking off enemies and start inking the middle area. If any enemies try to use the ramp they'll be spotted and either snipped off or hunted down by the team. Thus preventing the enemy from advancing into the shell or spawn areas. Plus it's a safe spot for a sniper. or someone (With a splatling... Anything long range) could be guarding the choke point while turfing half of the middle are and one of the lower areas. Now, this is good because you have someone who's defending the spawn area and the shell area, but at the same time they can turf half of the middle area and one of the lower areas. They could theoretically be controlling half of the entire map. This gives the rest of the team more flexibility to go kill off the enemy or to get more turf control. Do keep in mind that an enemy could jump over and get in the shell area. So watch out for that. All of this may not work for everyone but this helped me and it might even help you. I've got more but this is starting to get pretty long...
Mr. Roboto I always put ink mines on the tower in tower control. There's always a sense of satisfaction where it goes "They Have the Tower" only for me to watch them get blown up by my ink mine
Here’s more tips for those who have the Octo Expansion: 1. Beat it. 2. Beat every stage without using Marina. 3. Try to beat all stages with every weapon. (Spoilers coming up) 4. Try to beat all stages (where you can take damage) without taking damage (or, in the case of one boss: without getting hit). 5. Repeatedly battle Inner Agent 3 until you can easily kill him/her on the first attempt. 6. Repeatedly battle Inner Agent 3 on your bad days. This will help you a lot more than if you repeatedly battled him/her on your good days. 7. Try to kill Inner Agent 3 WITHOUT taking damage.
Maybe, but the Octo-Shot wouldn’t be terrible as a second. (Also I kinda-sorta have like Blasters, Chargers, Splattershots, Dualies, Splatlings, Rollers, AND Brushes as my mains.) Also, you’d learn how to avoid enemy fire within range.
Nine Tailed Fury Actually YES, you CAN. All attacks are 100% dodge-able. (Yes, even the Inkjet, Autobomb Launcher, UFO Phase (Hardest phase in a No-Damage run), & Jump-Splashdown combo are ALL dodgeable with INSANE inking skillz (and also precise splat bomb throwing.) ...Just nobody has the skill to do so, (WITHOUT TAS,) since it’s about like tryna have an entire ship’s hit box dodge all the bullets in a bullet hell...
Most excellent information. It's refreshing to hear these points spoken from a solid splatoon 2 player. Maybe could you do a followup video of which perks suit a weapon class better and/or what load outs are more effective in specific game play modes?
Everyone has the potential to improve. Sorry for replying to this after two fucking years but,, I went from stuck in A- and I practiced a lot, reaching S+ in all modes. I’m even X rank in some (clam blitz was the most treacherous), by watching this video. You got this :>
Are you the Wadsm from the World Champions Chip... omg. Your Gameplay was Godlike... 0.o Thx for this Tips. I play with the Clash Blaster because my aim is bad and i like the curling bombs. ^^" But jeah. I never seen good Splatoon Players with it... ^^" What do you think about the Clash Blaster?
Good at low Level but if you are planning to get into competitive you should drop it and Go for more Meta weapons and with enough practice your aim will get better👌
If you wish to play Clash competitive like my captain does, use it as a support weapon. Always be with someone and engage enemy squids 2v1. Clash is good for chip damage and places with a lot of hallways and closed spaces. It does suffer greatly from its bad damage output and range, so not a lot of people play it. But if you can use the weapons effectively and make it work in your gameplay style, then go for it!
I want to complete hero mode, use my Callie amiibo to get the items, then ima git gud and change my name to, “your inner agent 3,” from the octo expansion But I need to git gud. I remember like 2-3 years ago when it came out my dad and I played so much together
Always when i get bodied i always die everytime i only shoot a shot if ink but i don't care, it's good practice and sometimes i even get 1 or 2 kills. I have 1000+ splatoon 2 play hours most used to just normally play and get better at the game without watching any videos on how to get better. I basically just played and played and now in ranked i get 15 up to 20 kills per round! Thank you for this video, i will try to follow these tips even tho my online just expired, will train offline in octo expansion for example or trying out combos
I watched this video a long time ago, maybe even years ago. I recently started playing on a competitive tf2 team. I saw this video again, and I can’t believe how much of it has stuck with me through this time. My entire method getting better at tf2 is just exactly this, even if I had forgotten about the video itself. Truly an incredible video, for more than just splatoon 2.
In my case - I’ve decided to “Retire”, I only play Leisurely now - not only for bad match-ups/cold match-ups… everyone else has a Better Chance to get X Rank than I do and ever would. Not only that, Life’s Challenges getting in the way. Me working nights - I have to sacrifice my Road to Competitive Gaming just to make ends meet, and to maybe try to focus on something else. X Rank was only a Vision, but as an Action… it was not meant to be. Everyone else… Good Luck.
Ok, so basically for now, I'm gonna start playing a shit ton of splatoon and see if I like this. Splatoon is the only game I've come even close to wanting to play competitively. I've played other comp games like smash, cs:go and stuff but it never felt... fun enough? But I love playing splatoon and have since I got the original on day 1 and 2 a couple weeks or days after launch, but I gave neither a good amount of time. When playing both I always found the game fun even when I lose, I just care less about losses than in other games. I think it might be because of the short game length. Splatoon is also the only comp game series that I feel I was already naturally better at playing, I'm not really too sure of my skillset, but I usually get close to the top or first place, but I always want to play more when I see people that completely decide the result by being on the opposite team vs another team. I guess this is where watching your gameplay and improving on your habits and knowing your advantages and disadvantages comes to play. Anyways, I hope nobody had to read that. I'm very tired so I'm going to shower and go to sleep and so that another couple times until the weekend when I will get my splatoon 2 cart back from my friend who I lent it to. He also borrowed smash. He's kinda good at smash. I can't play against anything better than a level 6 cpu and I never want to. I don't know why I'm rambling so much especially considering nobody is gonna see this. I'm just tired.
I read it :) and i feel you. I played lots of comp games. Mostly cs go, league of legends and rocket league. I just got a switch and splatoon 2. I know this is fairly old at the moment but god this game is so much fun. I love the concept. But losing a match is not as bad as in most other games.
@@chromaticperception yeah, in CS:GO I have about 30 hours and most of that time I felt way less satisfied than when I play splatoon even when I was doing well and I would say a losing match in splat is more fun than a winning one in CS.
This is way I main carbon roller. I like a challenge. I'm getting better. I'm learned its ok to back off. I have to get better on my fling aim. I'm still playing around the sensitivity options. I do get mad when I drop from S+ to A+ because I don't go up against better people. And I feel guilty for splating them. A+ was really hard for me before. As a carbon roller I can't afford to play aimlessly. I do send friend requests to people that kick my butt. So I can get better. And I do hang longer in a lobby if a lot of good player are in it. But I can see carbon roller would suck in a competitive environment. I like using the carbon roller because some people really dislike being splated by one.
I play at rank X and carbon roller is my secondary main. Inkbrush is my #1 main wepaon and carbon roller is next. Don't underestimate the power of carbon! It's hard to master but it works once you do.
Hey thanks so much for this video! I hear all of these tips from top players all the time, but never all within one place. The persistence and time dedication really spoke to me, especially from someone who I look up to a lot 😅 Probably the best competitive video I’ve ever seen!
Ive played splatoon 2 for "865 hours or more" according to my profile. Im just getting up to rank s, and im im atleast rank A in all modes. A+ in all but clam blitz, and in clam blitz im A-. I use a different weapon and gearset for each mode, this includes turf. Turf: Kensa Octobrush Splat zones: Ballpoint splatling nouveau (im very good at it) Rainmaker: Octoshot replica Clam blitz: Tri slosher Tower control: Hero dualies :)
What should I do if I am put on teams who don't do the objective, don't paint, and don't kill? I get cracks everytime I lose in Splat Zones, and my rank went from S to A because I got 20+ kills and 1500p+. I have been on teams, watched gameplay, etc. My ranks are all over the place from A- to S+. Also, nice tips.
Drew D. Well you just gotta stick to the game you're meant to play with your weapon. If you're a slayer stick to killing opponents and hope others do their job. If you play backliners it's of course your job to push the objective, but then it's up to others to kill stuff. Get me one thing straight: you're not losing because of your teammates. There might be matches where it seems that way but in the end it evens out.
Great video, wadsm! Many valid points, and I agree with everything you said. 👍🏻 One can tell you put a lot of effort into this video. I will make sure to remember what you said, especially about practicing e.g. sub strafing in the dummy room... C: (I keep throwing random bombs!)
Still to this day, this guide remains one of the bests out there and is fully applicable to Splatoon 3. For the longest time I never had a RU-vid channel so I never got the opportunity to thank you for everything you did for the community as well as myself. So thank you, thank you so much for everything and we hope to see you around in the future :) Take care of yourself Wadsm ❤️
Does anyone realize that the thumbnail has a female inkling with a muscular body without anything covering it? I may be looking to much into this but isn't that kinda I L L E G A L?
I need help on this "You learn more from losing" thing. I HATE failure, and one of my biggest fears is failing at something important and people hating me for it. So, as a result of my fear, I get angry. Call me salty, but I get so angry sometimes that I learn NOTHING from dying or losing. I just see it as another dumbass thing I fucked up. Please, I need help!
Personally, I wanna become good, but just for fun. I don’t care about being beat or anything, I just wanna play and not lose as quickly as I do. That’s my only goal, I need dedication but I’m just not that dedicated. If I’m good enough that people think of me as a pro when I’m not, then I feel good about that! So, yeah ^^ ty
Alright, I tried to follow these rules. I overcame the most annoying weapons (clash blaster, *BOUNCY* squiffer, carbon roller, etc.) I've started to main the splat roller, because it's set is perfect for me, for I like to jump into action with a splashdown and get a squid-load of kills. Also, curling bombs are great because they make a path, and they can deal enough chip damage to get a distance kill with a vertical flick. I also tried to find good enemies, so i play at 4 : 12 A.M. so I can get the most advanced Japanese players. Yes, I get destroyed, but I learn from that. EQUIP NINJA SQUID IF GOING AGAINST プレーヤー AT NINETY-NINE STAR, WITH AN E-LITER. Other than that, I think that these tips are extremely helpful and I recommend them. I have now played for 500+ hours. Send help
The problem with me is that I main roller, so sudden splashdowns and long range stuff are instant kill...so I’m preeeety weak but if there are lots of people with mid range I’m gonna get 20 kills.
I had a thought over the last few days… based on my struggles in A Ranks. Should I actually “Reset”? The idea is that the next I’m on… should I DROP my Ranks? And go all the back to C-, and just Start Over from scratch?
When my and my friends play league, I am always the leader, I seem bossy but every time we decide a plan they want me to make it but the problem with playing with them is, they aren’t that good, and I’ve been training with 1 friend and he got pretty good at decision making. I am the one person that is good with everything but not amazing with 1 weapon because I have to accommodate to them, it is fun though because I am challenged to play different play styles. It is way more fun to play with them and I am too young and don’t want to play competitive.
This is the best Splattoon Video i have seen. All of your tips are on point. I record for our teams and you so right about viewing play! Like and Subscribed!
The only thing i really get mad about/complain about, are when my teammates do really dumb things, like run head first into the oppising team with just the rain maker, and no teammates to back them up, or bringing an arrowspray into any modes other than splat zones and turf war
Thanks, I am pretty good at this game, but the lack of being able to train offline and me not having much access to internet is really holding me back and I feel like this video really helps me to be even better at the game.
I just watched the Nintendo splatoon world final for 2018 with your team from Germany and I was amazed by how you wiped out the entire team with your bucket and then I found your channel, crazy! Huge fan, I hope to be kick ass like you one day :)
I play and practice my aim and skills really hard whenever I feel like it. Now I think I've gotten really good at the game thanks to all that practicing, and me playing through Octo Expansion 100%. My aim is really good most of the time. When I play online and I get salty/mad because of losing too much, I take a nice break, before I come back and try again.
It’s so disappointing playing rank battle and getting so many wins in a row, then stop playing for a day and all of a sudden I lose 2 ranks. I just got to S+ and now back to S rank. Thanks for the tips, this really helped a lot.
Being good at Splatoon 2? Please, the game rips you off, it's all a fantasy. HOWEVER, if you were to channel your Inner Woomy/Ngyes/Veemo/Ngweh and call upon our lord and saviors Splat Tim, Splat Tina, and Boomy the Woomy, you'd become a Splat GOD.
I developed a growth mindset about Splatoon after watching this, you gave me determination to get better, I've also found the weapon I'm best with, the Tri Slosher! Thank you so much!
I love this video! I always find myself telling myself that I’ll never be good at this game, mostly because I don’t learn from my mistakes; I just get pissed off. Now, after watching this video, I’m inspired to play Splatoon 2 more, and I’m going to kick butt
Splatoon 2 is probably one of the best multiplayer game I've played in a long time. Unlike hardcore games like CSGO and Dota, which I can never get into because of the massive difficulty curve, Splatoon 2 is very easy to get into and very fun to just play the game without pressure. The game is really deep the better you get and unlike CSGO and Dota, the community is awesome! Splatoon 2 community is one of the nicest I've seen. Whatever shortcomings Splatoon 2 like bad voice chat or connection issues, are solely due to Nintendo being Nintendo.
You name it! I also highly appreciate it how easy it is to get inot but yet goes very deep on a high level. And the community I must agree is awesome as well!
Can I just say... "If you die, give up the match" is a horrible way to train. I'm not sure if you actually meant "start throwing and take your loss as punishment", but that's practically the only way it can be interpreted. If I end up in a lobby with someone who dies once and then starts throwing the match, I will report that person. I'm not the only one. Sure, challenge yourself to not-die as long as possible - but if you do die, keep playing. Move on to some other challenge for that match if need be.
Yep I don't stand by that anymore. What I mostly did was setting myself goals to not die a certian amount in matches which helped me a lot to see how far you can go and still play it safe.
Who is this guy at 7.00 Edit: Aaaach des musst doch du sein von Gucci gang Und ich dachte mir schon des hört sich doch ziemlich deutsch an dieses English Ich hab dich schon ewig auf yt gesucht
