Once again I just want to mention that I am experiencing a glitch where it makes me sound muffled and unfortunately I can't fix it at the moment. It seems to be hit and miss. Sometimes recordings are perfect, sometimes not. I will be upgrading my equipment next month so that this doesn't happen again. I really do think Pearl's concept art is very interesting and looks great, but at the same time I'm extremely glad she looks like what she does in the game. At first, I did think she was ugly but now I find her very cute and even pretty. Pearl really grew on me because of her amazing personality, which in turn made her beautiful on the outside. Also, I really like just how different Pearl and Marina's current designs are from each other. They feel much more unique. I also feel that they better express their contrasting personalities rather than if Pearl's octoling design was used, who's outfit would heavily match Marina's. They would basically give off the same vibe as the Squid Sisters who were always so coordinated with each other.. On the other hand, I love the uniqueness of Off the Hook, and how Pearl and Marina really do express themselves. They're personalities shine through. If Pearl's octoling design was used in the final game, I feel like what really makes Off the Hook special would be mostly gone.. It's just that how different Pearl and Marina are, both physically and personality-wise is what really makes their group shine for me.

Pearl looks good both ways but squid pearl is better because she can show that inklings and octolings can be friends and remember inklings and octolings don't get along so pearl being a squid can make people more accepting of marina
I like Octoling Pearl better in terms of appearance. But in terms of personality, Pearl has grown on me. In context of the Splatoon lore, I think having 2 Octolings would have been way more bizarre, so I’m glad Off the Hook consists of at least 1 Inkling. Though, since no one in the game makes a big deal out of Marina, I’m assuming Inklings are okay with anyone as long as they’re Fresh.
They didn't know marina was an octoling prior to the octo expansion (including pearl) it wasn't until after then that marina came clean to everyone that she's an octoling. But I agree, having two octoling hosts would've messed with the lore a tad
Granted she does look better as an Octoling but I'm glad they went with the Inkling design. Mostly due to the fact that the deep contrast in design showed MOST people's true colors and immediately divided the fanbase on these two. The people who only care for looks flocked to Marina instantly, but the people who care for personality stayed neutral and eventually flocked towards Pearl. It was however different for Callie and Marie because they both had striking similarities but in the end Marie's personality won it out. So the deep contrast between Pearl and Marina is an interesting experiment in which I'd love to see how the chaos unfolds and reveals peoples true personalities.

I didn't go for Marina for her looks...I liked her for her personality and the fact that she was a Octoling and you normally don't get Octolings who are nice
Sonicmaster54 I'd rather have the other octoling pearl. It's better when theirs a fair split, not a landslide. Also, your acting like the only good thing about marina is her looks, when I like her for personality (she acts a lot more grown up than pearl) and I like her singing, and I'm sure many others do too
I like Pearl regardless. I think she compliment Marina well. THe squid sister worked because they complemented eachothers effectively and their relationship was established from the get-go. For Pearl and Marina however we don't know much about their backstory, how they came and the lores behind them. All we know is that they seems to have a friendship similar to the squidsister in front of cameras.
I love final game pearl, she's an adorable little gremlin with a lot of spunk! Yet again I've always loved things that look odd like hairles cats for example! People hate them because they are ugly, but I think they are adorable, plus you can put a coat on them to keep them warm :33
Biscuits the final splatfest for splatoon 2 won’t be fair at all. But I’d like to see pearl with a new design. So she can stop getting hate it’s kind of tiring seeing stuff like that on every splatoon video.
Top Left Pearl would've been nice more Fresh, but I like what we got still yet, she's just a complete Meme at this point, and nothing can save her from that now xD
I love the idea of Pearl once being a Octoling but at the same time I'm happy that they changed it because if they stayed as both octolings, players would just see them as Squid Sisters clones. The way pearl and marina are now makes more diverse and they not at all look like copies.
Guys think about this the hints are there the salmonoids may become and take the lead role as the villains of splatoon 3 b/c the salmon run book states how the rush of salmon run where they have destroyed a city because of the rush they will become a serious threat with the inkling world waters becoming more polluted over time the will eventually rise to the point grizzco may have to team up for the squidbeak splatoon and the octarians may have to put aside their differences with the inkling to join together to save their world Nintendo can be creative and introduce new salmonoid kinds that have just started to surface they will become a threat lead by either the salmonoid king, queen, duke, duchess or even baron you name it the squid sisters and off the hook will do need together and that could lead to multiplayer story mode kinda how grizzco works and grizzco is still a regular thing for fun purposes and the multiplayer can work kinda like the new super Mario bros series then Agent 4 may be needed for story along with Agents 1, 2 and 3 (depending on what gender you want Agent 3 to be or by default and you go through the story with them octavio possibly lending you hints with captain cuttlefish and sheldon requests about that's what I want for SPLATOON 3 THANKS FOR READING LIKE IF YOU AGREE AND STAY FRESH DUDE AND OTHERS WHO READ!!!!
Mind if I summarize this: In Splatoon 3, the Salmonids become a much bigger threat to both Inklings and Octarians and this forces both of them to create another peace treaty with each other so they can help each other fight against the rising threat of the Salmonids taking over their homelands. This allows Inklings and Octarians/Octolings to freely enter each other’s cities and towns and interact with one another. Off the Hook becomes more popular to the public because of their interracial friendship and support towards the fight against the Salmonids; thus turning them into public representatives for both Inklings and Octarians.

I like both , but I'm kinda leaning on final pearl. The Squid Sisters looked similar while Off The Hook had contrast. I like how instead of being the same species , they were different. And to be honest , I think people would even have a even bigger flame war if Nintendo stuck with Octopus Pearl.
I like pearls final version better than the concept art because it shows that inklings and octolings can get along very well and live peacefully side by side

I like how Nintendo is making inklings and Octolings become closer and if they make a third Splatoon it might get to the point where they're both on each other's side and they have to fight against the salmonids together
I think I'm the only one who absolutely loves the way pearl looks in the game. Even though she's an inkling she looks evil which is smart because octolings are the bad ones ( not always bad but u get it ) and marina looks like a sweetheart even tho she is an octoling. I find her art design in the game so clever because of that and it just gives her so much character always looking mad or evil that's why I like her look so much. Also same thing with marina the overflowing character vibes u get just from look at them.
Imagine custom campaigns where you could play as pearl or marina and face off against concept art versions of themselves as the final boss. Aka like concept art pearl would have a squadron of inklings for normal pearl to fight, same deal with marina except octarians or octolings.
Pearl really does look so much better than in game. I hoped the new squid sisters would be both Octolings before the game even released a trailer. But one squid and one octarian works too.
I love the concept art, I do really and I wish Pearl was really an octoling that would be awesome, but Pearl is already how they are so we can't really change anything about it
It seems that a little bit of Octoling stayed with the final version of Pearl, pay close attention to her mouth, she has the same teeth as Marina rather than the teeth of the Inklings/Squid Sisters.
For me personally, I think they made the right move by changing Pearl to be an Inkling. Her design is unique for an Inkling (especially in her Octo Expansion outfit) and her personality is just stellar. I've always liked Pearl, but after Octo Expansion my love for her only grew bigger. I think if they made her be an Octoling, she wouldn't be very different from Marina. I think them making Pearl an Inkling was a good choice because it also helped Marina in the end fully convert into Inkling culture and she even learned the Inkling language from Pearl! If Pearl and Marina had both been Octolings who escaped the Octarian army then they both would of had a harder time fitting in to the Inkling Society. It was the right move to make Pearl an Inkling and I am glad they decided to do it. They look completely different to each other, but compliment each other so well especially personality wise.
well is really wonderful to see pearl like a octoling, it think she was perfect like it was there, but the in-game pearl is pretty decent, but i kind of love it like it is :v
I personally prefer Pearl's final design. I really don't think Pearl looked ugly in the first place. Octoling Pearl reminds me too much of Marie by design. I think they made her an Inkling to balance the two out and so that there wouldn't be too much conflict having two OCTOLINGS as hosts for Splatfests which are primarily for Inklings. I mean, if they kept Pearl's Octoling design, she and Marina would have made great mini bosses. I don't know if the Squid world would be ready for two Octolings disrupting the society of Inkopolis.
I like pearl's official design. She have this childish and gremlin look that gives her an original character design and personality oposite to marina, A sassy, sexy, mature looking lady
I hope Nintendo reconsiders re-designing Pearl for the next game or either another game update. I feel it could balance the love for both her and Marina. I say concept art Pearl looks and fits better her personality. SOMEBODY START MAKING A PETITION TO REDESING PEARL LIKE ONE OF THE CONCEPT ARTS!
To be honest, I wish they went with the design on the left (shown at 0:37) but I like the way Pearl looks now. Just wish they made Pearl look like she does in the official art.
Concept. Though I would prefer if pearl had look like the octoling instead but still be a inkling. Since it would be a good idea to pair with a octoling with a inkling since it shows that they have a close bond and don’t care about what they are but who they are.
I would like pearl more if she had her hair style from when she was a kid as her hair looked like the Splatoon 1 inkling girl hair but a bit shorter (you see this is the first sunken scroll)
I personally love Pearl's design and personality. Yes, she would have matched Marina's design better if she looked like her concept art, but I think that that is why Nintendo made her this way. I find them much more interesting when they both look completely diferent from one another. Also, this game is supposed to be revealing more about octolings, and their story. So I think having an octoling being friends with an inkling makes a lot of sense.
