I assume their reasoning behind not bringing back specials was to not muddy the balance, but rather to evolve the existing specials into new specials that operate on a similar basis, but are more interesting to use.

I know Nintendo said that they are not using Miiverse on the Switch but I would still think it would be cool if they gave us the option to share drawn images to other players.

I'm glad they changed the roller jump splat to vertical. The Dynamo Roller has crazy stupid range when used while jumping. This is good to give players at least a chance to avoid the oncoming destruction since the range is narrowed. But I'm not liking that stingray special for the sniper. Going through walls seems cheap but at least it's really stiff in turning and you get a warning signal ahead of time. I just hope at least some of the specials come back, mainly the Ink Strike and the Killer Wail. Those 2 specials are just so much fun to use.

I still don't understand how anyone thought that Splatoon would just get a port based on that footage from the Switch reveal. A port would be vastly unchanged from the original, such as Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. In Splatoon's case, the reveal trailer showed of brand new animations, clothing, and Inkling designs that were never featured in Splatoon 1. I'm not trying to offend anyone, I just don't understand the logic in that since the reveal of the Switch.

I wonder what'll happen if you use gyro controls while you have the Joy-Cons in your hands, not connecting to anything. If you move just one Joy-Con away from the other or twist it, what'll happen? I'm legitimately curious. If I pick up this game, that's gonna be the first thing I try out.

It is weird to differenciate Splatoon and Splat2n. They both are pronounced splatoon. :P

Something that you guys are missing about the map rotations though is that, yes there were three during splatfest, but it was three of a single mode, not two rotations of three. So it was technically less maps in rotation than normal. I don't know whether or not Wii U and the servers could have handled 6 maps. It might have, or it might not have, but Splatfest is not a viable reasoning of it being able to have three map rotations because it would be six rotations.

It feels kind of weird to hear all this a year later. But I still enjoy it.

I hope this game has all the old stages as well

What if after you reach a certain level (or beat story mode) you could access inkopolis plaza through the train? Once you get there you could possibly unlock a new mode through inkopolis tower, and check out the old shops.

I'm pretty sure the ink rails are in Moray Towers to bridge the gap between the two sides. The most annoying part of that stage was trying to hit an e-liter on the other side. If they're any good, you'll be hit before you're close. The ink rails could help crossing the gap.

I am in the camo that bought the switch for Splatoon 2 and I wouldn't have gotten (or even wanted) it if not for Chugga's let's play of the first game showing me what an amazing game I missed.

Another idea for a possible special weapon could be a defensive spray players could cover their existing ink with, which could act as a protective coating for a set period of time, preventing the other team from inking over it.

While I would like it if we had Splatfests return, I'd also love it if we have maps reflect the time of day (Some maps look more beautiful at Night than in the day time).

In splatoon 1 we've always known what weapons our team had and when each went down on the gamepad. Its just easier to see now in splatoon 2 and we can tell when someone has a special ready now

I like how a Splatoon-discussion gets people what know the specific stats and abilities of individual pieces of clothing and weapons. But when we get a fighting game discussion, we get Ash "EHMEGERD SUPA FIGHTIN ROBOT MEGA MAN" Poulson.

As someone who has played Splatoon 2, the new way to super jump IS NOT GOOD. It's simply not as intuitive, it's not as fast, it blocks your view in the middle of a match to bring it up... Even using the D-Pad to select a team mate to jump to requires you tap the A button to confirm the launch still (tapping the D pad just aligns the marker to a team mate as opposed to gyro mouse and point controls). I can guarantee you people will not be bringing it up in the middle of a fire fight as a means to escape. For better or worse. I will personally be happy about that aspect of the change... you won't see the cheap scaredy cat tactic of launching as a means to escape. Mind you I know a lot of people who will be miffed cause it means people won't be using it so much for neat tactics like launching to splat people on platforms, or use the point markers to hop and skip across a map fast. That said overall it makes me miss the information the screen provided. Even checking to see how well your team is inking turf is more of a hassle. You basically have to use your instinct and check your surroundings and just know easily missed spots on a map.

What I did to land safely, I used inkstriked then go to where I striked

if being splatted on the jump in bothers you that much, then wear shoes with "ninja squid". it gets rid of the circle that shows up when you jump

It should Launch with 5 New Stages and 3 Classic Stages. Then when more content comes down the line inlcuding new maps it'd probably be smart to bring back maybe 2 or 3 more Classic Maps.. At least that's how I would do it

I think I'm one of the oddballs that picked up the charger from the start not because i was a sniper in other shooters (which I'm not), but because I saw it as a safe-range inking tool. I found it really satisfying to find areas that I could fire a full charge and cover the entire area with just a few full charges from a safe distance. Though, that did end up with me focusing on the Squiffer because of its mobility as a nice blend for my style of play.

Splatoon 2 is the reason I'm buying the switch, but I'm still gonna get BotW on launch

I probably wouldn't want to get a switch if Splatoon 2 weren't on it. Not to say there aren't more games I will enjoy, but Splatoon 2 makes it worth it in my opinion.
