I love how the lyrics make if feel like this isn’t Marina singing it actually feels like Order is the one singing and is just using Marina’s voice.

Whoo, I love this song! _"Circuits ebb and flow"_ Eyyyyy- _"Let's see you try"_ could be taken as either Order getting irritated (which it often does) OR Marina subconsciously asking Eight to, in fact, fight back...

I love how well you managed to sneak in little references to other stuff like "Ebb and Flow," Golden Ratio, and "Anarchy Rainbow"

I just want to make a point about using the word “achromatic” real quick: (Music theory crash course for those that don’t know:) In music, each octave is divided into 12 pitches. A “key signature” uses a specific pattern of 8 of these pitches to build the notes of the key’s “scale,” a musical line that starts at the bottom note of the key and goes up in ascending order. A song normally uses these scales as a base to build the structure of the melody, but most songs use at least a few “accidentals” to move a note to a pitch that isn’t in the scale, often to add emphasis or variation. “Achromatic” is a term used to describe music that doesn’t use any accidentals, and stays entirely within the song’s key signature. It literally means music that follows perfect order. Unconsciousness is such a cool piece for music theory/game design fusion nerds like me to go crazy over, and these lyrics do it perfect justice.

I love how the upbeat parts of the song sound like Marina is momentarily freeing herself from the order. and her real personality tries to come out.

Am I the only one that had a Moment over the lyric about pearls ("Polished, refined to a pearl", 2:05)? Pearls are held to a standard of perfection (mainly seen as monochromatic and perfectly spherical), but there are so many types of pearls! Their shape (smooth, bumpy, or both), texture (hard, soft, in-between), and colors (the whole rainbow + some) vary depending on their environment. the fact they're organic makes these traits vary wildly, and it also makes natural pearls really rare! This is such a perfect fit for Marina’s voice (if there were like a Netflix series or something where they don’t speak squid and Octo languages, yk) Also, I love how both versions have this vibe where Marinas tone is quiet, implying more control and focus, but then gets louder and more aggressive, like the order had been disrupted by the fight. At least that’s my take on it 😅❤

I love these lyrics so muuuuch omggg so many cool interpretations of this song I’ve seen. I also just love this song in general because it’s like- the groundwork of establishing this ongoing parallel between Marina and order. Order is Marina’s creation which means at one point Marina had the same thoughts and values as order currently has. Though hers are more likely to be swayed and change because she’s a living being with complex thought while order is an unfeeling uncaring angry AI wanting to control everything and everyone. By the end of the game, Marina is seeing her own deepest darkest thoughts twisted up in tone disgusting being. I kinda wish they made marinas recovery after the first trip up the tower a little more gradual- but eh the dlc is still great. I just do miss the darker thought provoking elements that were in the concept art
