Hope you guys enjoyed the video! Again Huge shoutout to DanFourts & Jub! I think this is where I’ll stop adding more now or never versions, I’ve pretty much added all of them (OCTO EXPANSION DOESN’T COUNT). If deep cut does another concert and they preform now or never I’ll add that. But for now thank you guys for watching
man wish i still had my copy of splatoon 1 , i played from the first testfire to the callie vs marie splatfest. i saw the heaven and hell of that game, i remember how broken ninja squid was at launch, the controversy of blasters , everyone complaining that rollers were broken, how you would play your reroll in your fav gear gives you at leats 2 the same skill. those really were the days.
Splatoon: still figuring out how to make the music, kinda muffled Splatoon 2: muffled harmonies Splatoon 3: *aggressive rock and/or pop* and clear voices 9:02 conveys the feeling of urgency but in a fun way because of the tone being an octave higher and a choir. I see what splatoon did…they like their *octaves*
The original Splatoon will be 10 years old in 2 years. It’s hard to believe back in 2015 I pre-ordered the game on the Wii U eShop without even knowing what it was and having buyer’s remorse. Then I played all of the Global Testfire events and really fell in love with the concept of the game. To this day I’m still a regular player in the series. Picked up the 3rd game on launch and have been playing it ever since.
@@alessandro6885never knew it'd turn 10 , who knew younger me would fall in love with splatoon's trailer and beg my mom to pick it up and then it'd basically stick with me for life , still an avid player to this day and picked up splatoon 3 on launch
@@docwulff907 I’m in my car at a stop light. It just turned red. And I just stepped out of my car and stood up. Now everyone thinks I’m crazy, but it was worth it. 🦑
I love all three of the Now or Nevers but for different reasons because all of them have a different interpretation of it. So, these are my interpretations of each of the fictional band's interpretations. (Yes, this is me just reading more into the silly squid music) Squid Squad: Of course, this is the original. All three use the lydian scale to up the sense of urgency and give it that "It's now or never!" feel, as well as the somewhat frantic drums. The things that I like that are unique to this version are the "Ska!"s and the way they handle the end of the bridge. The power cords kind of give it a simple but powerful feeling. At the end of a turf war, you know your goal, and you just have to make paint hit the floor, and not die. Speaking of not dying, the "Ska!"s. At the end of a turf war you're so focused on painting, that anything feels like a big deal, any ouch, any spotting of an enemy, it can get overwhelming trying to answer everything that's yelling at you all at once, but new things just continue to happen. Sometimes you die, or just get a little moment to get your bearings, but it's just for afew seconds. I love the descent and ascent here, it feels like watching mid swap back... and forth... and back... and forth... all in the last minute of the game. Then there's that last second decision you make, the last resolve on what you're going to spend these last 20 seconds doing. Right back to it, and then the panic of hearing the final seconds of the song, nothing to do but throw your last bomb and... who won? Wet Floor: Lots of the same vibes here, but more relaxed, with a funkier bassline. Feels a little more chill, as chill as focused desperation can be anyways. The two voices calling and repeating aren't at odds, they're working together. It's your team communicating and coordinating as you set up the final push. The bridge in this one just feels... harmonious. Your whole team focused together trying to achieve the same goal. The back and forth of the up and don has been replaced with more lydian ascents, ramping up even more, even as your team is working together. The end of the bridge again, is that little private moment with yourself. Outside of teamwork. Outside of what pressure the enemy is forcing. What will you do in these last 20 seconds? Right back to it, now that everyone has decided what they're doing, you all try and set up that last few moments. You take and give what information you have, push together and pray. How did *we* do? C Side: Chaos chaos! This version of Now or Never is showing that it's a desperate for for both sides. Everyone on both teams is frantic and having to make similar split second decisions. The bridge doesn't really calm down until part way through, things are still happening and you are able to get so much information now, which you need to use all of. This is the shortest/fastest of the final decisions, you know what you're gonna do now, and you know that you have to do it now. Both teams are coordinating and executing their last ditch efforts in these crucial final seconds. Splat that guy, spray and pray, time for one last bomb... and relax. There's nothing left but to see the results.
My take: the upbeatness of the final Now or Never really helps offset some of the stressfulness of the song itself and the last minute of gameplay where pretty much everything is determined (since the song is for turf war after all). The E3 version doesn't have that; it just sounds stressful. The final version kinda scrubs some of the salt subconsciously with its chipperness, which is something that's very much needed for that game and something that the E3 version doesn't provide
it doesnt feel like a good last minute transition into the end of the match. it feels more like a low health jingle, kind of like the low health theme in unova
I could see that working for ranked with how insane that mode can be (especially since it could only be for the last minute and can loop if overtime occurs)
It's still the most energizing and adrenaline rush feeling than the other 2 Splatoons. However, 3 brings back that chaotic Now or Never but still I choose 1. It's just cooler :)
@@Chopscrewyyyngl half yes, it was my first now or never to hear but also it just sounds more frantic and panicky and actually makes my heart race when playing turf war and trying to win last second lol
i have no clue how they'll one-up splat 3's in the next game. maybe i'm biased because i wasn't playing until 3, but that punk vibe man!!! it's just so perfect
I really wish they kept the E3 2014 Now or Never for Ranked Battles. This version sounds a lot more stressful and serious than the final version, which perfectly describes ranked.
Thanks for this! DanFourt's channel got taken down, and so has his beta recreation of Now or Never! Spent an hour trying to find it and thankfully this video has it! :)
Ah yes, my favorites. Anxiety Booster Classic Squid Sisters Not The Sequel The Sequel Forehead and the Octoling Squid Sisters, Forehead, and the Octoling Punk Blue, Fivehead, and Chad Cards... i guess The Sisters, LIVE! @@lemonbreadd4427 I find the Now or Never theme in particular to be kinda... no. Some are genuinly really good though, see Vs. Marx, Bomb Rush Blush, and Meta Knight's Revenge.
@@maxw.4366 i'm mainly thinking the smash splatoon remixes. a lot of smash remixes are actually really cool, but the splatoon ones.... well, like you said, we at least have bomb rush blush
(Comment from older version) This will now forever be my "nintendo direct is going to start in 20 minutes, get hyped" music I will now put thoughts and opinions on directs here 10/6/22: mario movie direct It looks very well animated and I can deal with the voice the characters have. so far it looks cool and I am hyped for it to release. Crossing my fingers for a wario and waluigi appearance... 2/8/23: general direct Very excited for the booster course pass 4, new track AND NEW CHARACTERS?! Tears of the kingdom looks sick as always (reminded me of Banjo kazooie nuts and bolts in a way). gb and gba is very poggers. Pikmin 4 looks fantastic I never really got into Pikmin but I might with this entry. Metroid prime remastered... cool but where's prime 4. Splatoon 3 DLC, please be as good as octo expansion. 3/9/23: Mario movie direct Banger... it looks wonderful... I can't wait... Rainbow road looks gorgeous...
20:39 is exactly what I was going for. I think something like 18:50 would be super fitting in the middle part. It’s probably the only good part of the whole song.
@@callie-flower3177 theres not very much punk gear though. like only the punk nights shoes and the leather jackets from annaki, i wish there was more because i only have like 2 punk outfits that are very basic
Smash bro's sounds so fucking horrible. Like why is it so jolly u don't have the urge to turn the tides of battle💀 Like this ain't now or never this later and always😭💀
Tbh if they make a special now or never for the final fest in splatoon 3 I hope all 7 idols sing even though that would be chaotic but then again splatoon 3 is meant to be chaos
Splatoon 1 :7/10 I like it Fest version:20/10 soo good Splatoon 2 : 1/10 It seems like the most boring version to me, I don't feel a sense of danger :/ Fest version: 6/10 not bad Finalfest: 7/10 Better Splatoon 3 : 333/10 The best version Fest version: 10/10 Fun
