I can't help but think that Team Chaos' victory defined what characters got focus in _Splatoon 3,_ as Callie, Octavio, and the Salmonids are all in focus, if only a little more than their counterparts. Callie follows you to the other areas of Alterna to cheer you on; Octavio gets to be the first boss AND the cavalry in the final battle; Little Buddy is at your service, and Salmon Run is now a 24/7 service.
fr bro there r sooooooooooo many details that the devs made sure to add that r SO clever like tomorrows nostalgia today hints at the theme of the grand festival and the festival it's self Tomorrow = future nostalgia = past today = present the devs r very weel organised and have great story building skills as well as creating the amazing and crazy lore behind all of the characters, and how splatton came to be (human exstintion, grizz, the cat dude, ect) love how the game looks in gerneral tho its such an amazing concept!!
i also think iso padre’s reasoning, especially in his quote, was because of his experience on the deep sea metro. he watched tartar trample over so many lives in his quest for the “perfect life form” to follow the human race without realizing that the little eccentricities and flaws of inklings were what made them so fun and unique. it’s almost like he’s speaking directly to tartar or in response to it.
watching this is so weird for me, I remember when these posts were coming out (even printed out some of the art as posters) and everyone was talking about them, now they are being talked about like they are niche lore no one has heard and have been lost to time. Crazy man
@@con_lol_4721 Yeah it’s one of those things where I’m sure most Splat 2 fans will remember these posts rolling out, but anyone who joined after 2019 might have no idea they exist, so I figure they’re worth mentioning again
I'd love to have something like for finalfest in S3 too! With three teams, there could even be more characters on each team and showcase some of the background characters we don't really see.
this'll probably never actually happen, but im hoping we'll see some of the splatband characters in said showcase you talk about here, three teams IS alot, so one can hope..
I read Spike and Murch being on different sides as both trying to take advantaof the system that way regardless of what side wins they can split the profits
is very interesting seeing pearl's view point in splatoon 2 final fest on the chaos team, about embracing change and the future and how that is both a strength and a flaw, and now seeing her on the side of the present, i think that reveals a whole lot about the progression of her character and how she views these things now, accepting change but also appreciating the things you have now and the people you have by your side, i think thats pretty neat!
0:54 holy shit LMAAAO that's so real...i started with S3 myself i shouldn't really talk but man some people tho, have you seen how many people genuinely think there's actually 8 agents in squidbeak, i've seen people say pearl and marina are agent 5 and agent 6 and there's an agent 7 we don't know abt splatoon tiktok especially is crazy 💀
@@CorviKid999 Not to blame all the misinformation on him, but I know there was a particular Nin10doland thumbnail that was largely responsible for the Agent 7 idea
@TheCosmiccloud Didn't he also once claimed that the flooders (and also the octoweapons??? I dont remember) could've been built by Glen fiddler lmao? Regardless yeah bro is NOT a reliable source on splatoon lore
"One of only three things that expands on Agent 4's character" I mean he jests, but aside from Agent 8, Agent 4 is the player character we know the most about despite how little Nintendo likes to do anything with them or show anything about them.
23:13 They did do this for the idol groups on the new website but it isn't properly translated to english yet. We juet have the bad google translate versions for now
From what I've seen the website just describes the groups without really commenting on their team choice. It's cool that the site exists, and it has been getting updates (like the info about the construction company for the Crater venue), but I'm really hoping we actually get some new insight into existing characters
For my own story I included similar themes for the Goddess of Order and God of Chaos being the gods of stagnation and progress respectively (was it subconscious, fate, or just kind of obvious imagery). Order is a peaceful sameness we need at times but can be limiting and stifling, chaos is drive and unpredictability that pushes things forward however it can be a bit much at times. Ultimately it's all about balance and going with the ebb & flow.
Tell me you didn't see the announcement cutscene without telling me you didn't see the announcement cutscene. Marina literally explicitly refers to "having a place everyone can feel safe and secure," which is like, the opposite of how people keep reading the teams. Also, Pearl said "no rules," like, she didn't want "chaos," she wanted no repurcussions for her actions.
@SnoFitzroy Tell me you didn't watch the video without telling me you didn't watch the video, there are different interpretations of chaos and order for each character, these are my interpretations for the sake of a different story that I'm telling that happens to line up here. Even then my interpretation doesn't conflict with Pearl and Marina's.
This may be a spoiler but it was kinda mentioned on his weapon profile by Smolusk on Side order that Murch was considering a change after conducting sketchy business with Spyke so to me that might be why he was on Order when he was younger
I'm assuming we'll get insight into what each group thinks about Splat 3's final fest theme when the sneak peak drops and they report it on their respective news. I still remember the news that played when Chaos vs Order was announced in-game and they started playing The Plan from Octo Expansion, it made it seem way bigger than Callie vs Marie did back in Splatoon 1. My best guess as to what they'll do this time is cut between each idols' news segment as they all come to terms with what team they'd want to represent.
@@RadiantBlazeVA I’m sure we’ll at least get the idols’ reasoning, and I am looking forward to that! But I really like how splat 2 managed to get every single character involved. I hope we get to know minor characters’ team alignments at least, even if we don’t get the specifics
@TheCosmicCloud I'm assuming the reason why we might not get it this time is because they would have to divide everyone up into three specific teams instead of 2. There's no neutral option this time around like there was for Chaos vs Order and I don't think theme itself lends itself to being as open as Splat 2's did hence why it seems they're limiting it to the main idols. I'd love to be proven wrong tho!
My hope for the final splatfest is: Mind, Body and Spirit. You can get a lot of millage out of that for writing Splatoon 4's plot, if they plan to go that way.
I'm pretty sure Grand Fest IS the "Final Fest" of Splatoon 3. It might not literally be the last event in the game, but it's clearly set up to be the one that matters going forward
@@TheCosmicCloud yeah I'm pretty sure they didn't call it "Splatoon 3 final fest" because if you searched that up you'd definitely get way more chaos vs order stuff than you wanted. Also grand festival sounds like "grand finale" which could be a nod at the fact that splat 3 is the end of the squidbeak splatoon storyline
5:56 I've always interpreted Agent 4's position in the group photo *not* as the result of them being a gremlin child photobombing the picture, but rather as Agent 4 frantically trying to get into frame last-second after taking the picture. I mean the way I see it, there doesn't seem to be any position in the pictured group pose where Four could have been positioned, so what if they were the one taking the picture, and used a shutter delay to get in frame last-second?
@@Novastarsss Well, in terms of doing something *antagonistic*, he pretty much gave up on his original plan to take Judd’s position. If anything, running Grizzco might allow him to overcome his inferiority complex and become more docile
Something that could also be brought up with Pearl is that she actively got kicked out of her old band according to comments about Sashimori and how Paul ended up being the lead, another point towards how "chaos" could affect her life in a negative way.
Im so excited how Splatoon 4 is going to be, probably depending on which team wins in the final splatfest. Because Chaos won in Splatoon 2, we have a world full of (good) chaos and we have Anarchy Rainbow, which literally are Chaos themselves. How would Splatoon 4 look like, how would the story be, if either team Past, Present or Future won? I dont even know which team I should pick. Should I just pick the team I like, which would be past bc Squid Sisters and nostalgia or should I lose myself in lore and predict how the next game looks like depending on who I choose?
10:40 something about this, it's theorised that her goal wasn't actually to go to inkopolis at all and instead kill herself as the mountain she climbed up and het pearl on has the same name as a mountain that is very popular to commit suicide on
Cosmic you naughty boy I told you to not talk about the Callie and octavio conspiracy theories also the new amiibo gear just got revealed you’ll love it
I saw the amiibo gear! I really wanted the spacesuit over the default Neo 3 outfit, so im a little disappointed there, but the Captain 3 set and Off the Hook gear is very nice
19:07 Dangit! I was gonna mention that fun fact! Grr. Well I'm doing it anyway! Fun fact(!!!): Every single character that appears in Splatoon 2 stars in the Final Fest mural, which is to say every single (main) Splatoon character (at the time) with the sole exception of Jelonzo. Annie only baaaaarely makes the cut: she doesn't appear at all in-game but does run the Splatnet store (and is briefly mentioned in the Squid Sisters Stories).
Knowing who Grizz really is, I wouldn't be surprised if the whole "accepting change" spiel as he was dying was another lie (considering that remark about severance pay in spite of what is essentially a him-exclusive Two Minutes Notice)
@@TheCosmicCloud honestly feels about right length of time wise, but man is it wild to me lol. Back then, I was an M Zap 89 main, one of those Tenta Missiles spammers (sorry), nowadays I'm using the N Zap 85 and the Octo Shot
kinda unrelated but i really wonder what the news broadcast for splatoon 3's grand fest will look like because all the idols are involved. like are off the hook and the squid sisters gonna barge into the studio or intercept the broadcast or something?? It actually might top the splatoon 2 chaos v order news segment in that case lol
@@Fennix404 I’ve actually thought about this a ton lol I really feel like the other idols have to show up somehow to represent their teams, but I’m not sure how they’ll pull it off. I hope they go all out with it though
What do you think about the construction company & their president? It seems a little weird they'd put much focus on the company making it themselves, though not unreasonable, i guess. What's most interesting is them even highlighting the president whatsoever. Could he be an important character?
@@Eliza-rg4vw I think it’s fun to get random obscure lore like that! I especially like that they are shown to be the people who built Starfish Mainstage. It’s a neat way to tie together seemingly unrelated parts of Splatoon’s world. Do I think he’s important? Nope. It’s a Glen Fiddler type deal. He’s just there
I've been thinking... What if lil judd and Mr. Grizz were in cahoots with each other and the original plan was when the world became a fuzzball, that when lil jud would stab judd in the the back. But since that plan failed and grizz can no longer be in action ( due to floating in orbit), lil judd will now take over grizz co. and he will be the next main antagonist. Just a thought I had.
So are we finally gonna acknowledge that Lil' Judd definitely rigged the FinalFest? Like...he's one of the judges and was biased... 16:03 WHAT????????? You just described the most chaotic thing I've ever heard, followed up by "yup that sounds like order to me"???
@@CommanderTaryClick the first link in the description for the official Splatoon tumblr, scroll down to July 2019, and the posts should be there. They’re also on Twitter, but like I mentioned in the video I had trouble finding them there
I'm a little sad that Pearl isn't on team Future, but whatever. Yeah that's right teams past and present. I'm against you, and with me around, it can be guaranteed that the future doesn't belong to you.
I really dislike some of these character choices ngl. I think that most them are fine and bring more characterization to existing characters but others just feel forced to be included in the splatfest. Mainly Agent 4, Agent 8, and Tar Tar. Agent 4 and 8 being stand-ins for the player character who are customizable rubs me the wrong way that the devs get to decide which team they are on. Especially when you could’ve chosen either of these teams as Agent 8 in Splatoon 2. And don’t even get me started on why Tar Tar being in a spatfest makes no sense and is incredibly forced. Firstly Tar Tar hates Splatfest’s and Turf War’s because they are indicative of Inkling and Octoling’s major flaw according to Tar Tar being the lust for war. So much so Tar Tar would commit genocide to rid the world of them and replace them. Which is another thing that is dumb is that why would these characters ever want to be on the same team as someone as unforgivable as Tar Tar, maybe you could say he was reprogrammed or something but his existence within the splatfest as a whole is also very questionable, did he somehow survive? Is this a copy of his AI? It’s just very poorly thought out for some of these characters imo.
Mr. Grizz I can kinda defend because this seems to be not the same Grizz who was killed at the end of the campaign and rather the one who is currently still operating Grizz Co.
@@drier_cola Tartar being on the poster doesn’t mean it’s actually participating in the splatfest. Final Fest canonically takes place after Octo Expansion, so Tartar isn’t even alive. It’s just a way to show the differing views between characters across Splatoon 2’s world and story. As far as the Agents, Agent 8 has an established personality and backstory. They’re a silent protag, but not really a blank slate in the way the other Agents are. Agent 4 doesn’t have as much of a role in their own story, so there’s less of a reason for them to have a team, but I personally don’t think there’s anything wrong with it
@@deanthe_ He very explicitly brainwashed Callie during the final boss fight of Splatoon 2. He says he “remixed Callie’s brain” with the “hypnoshades.” How is that not brainwashing
